Cucina Enoteca - Del Mar Ratings and Reviews

We met a co-worker who happened to be in town for vacation. The front desk staff leaves much to be desired. There were three people up front, one young man with glasses who never did acknowledge our presence, a young women who was obviously new and a more senior young woman who was on the phone. We were the only people waiting to speak to the staff up front. The more senior young woman was on the phone and the other two did not acknowledge our presence. We had a reservation, so we waited patiently as they do have a pretty good wine selection at the entry point to glance through. Once the phone was hung up, the young lady smiled and assisted us. We were seated at a nice table. Our waitress was outstanding! She was attentive and answered questions, took our order and let us visit. She even joked with us when one of the folks at our table spilled a glass of wine. The food was outstanding. We ordered two pizza's, two salads and rigatoni! The restaurant itself is really well decorated, modern and warm at the same time. Our waitress was awesome, the wine was good and the food was great! It's a little loud and the front desk staff leaves some to be desired...but the wait service and the food far out weights any negative. Eat here! You will not regret it!

It has been better - we had to wait a long time for our reserved table and no where to sit down to wait - we were a small group but the plates/food came out very far apart so was awkward and getting cold ...very loud and tough to have a conversation - food was not up to par ... we go to Cucina A LOT ...but i was disappointed in front of my friends .

Every time we eat at Cucina Enoteca, the experience is less than wonderful. The ambience is awful and the noise level is through the roof! After each time we say NEVER AGAIN! Well, we tried it again yesterday... Not sure why. The noise was only 3/4 as bad as usual, but of course it was only the lunch crowd. And the food was delicious. We each had a pizza and they were both yummy. Guess that's why we keep going back. But don't expect a relaxing experience. Hurry up, eat and get the heck out of there!

My daughter came for a visit and I wanted to treat her to s lovely lunch. My daughter had been there before and loved the decor. She ordered the beet and avocado salad and practically licked her plate. It contained all her favorites. It's become our venue whenever she visits.

Nice place and we used to like it a lot. Food just wasn't that great and portions are small. Had a beet salad that had very hard soybeans (I think). Felt like you could chip a tooth on then. Ruined the salad. Cost nearly $90 for 2 very small buttered pastas and 2 beet salad with a side of protein. The restaurant was slow, and the service was even slower. I think the server we had was half out the door, she just wasn't into it.

I love Cucina Encota and have never had a bad meal there. Our waiter was a little overbearing at times with his constant appearance at our table which made it difficult for us to converse, but other than that, will go back for the food ...

Delicious. The Rigatoni Bolognese is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Cucina Enoteca is spectacular every time. From the extensive wine list, to the crafted cocktails and scrumptious menu, there is something for everyone. Every day is a good day to eat at Cucina Enoteca.

Great food, on par with the flagship cucina urbana, though a little weak on the desserts. Classic cucina dishes are present on the menu and pasta is superb. Restaurant week offerings start at $30 for three courses but that includes only pizzas as the main. Additional options are available at higher price points. Service was attentive, though diffusion of responsibility among all the servers slowed things down a bit. Modern decor with original touches. Don't know about shoe inserts hanging over tables and people's food though...

This venue is feels so much more open than the original Cucina Urbana. That combined with the excellent food and a very good wine list at quite reasonable prices (2013 Hall Napa cebernet for $40!) makes Cucina Enoteca an easy strong recommendation!

Food very good, but we really miss the kale salad. Cocktails quite overpriced. We have been to Cucina Urbana and Cucina Enoteca countless times. the servers are always friendly and professional. However this evening our server was just awful. He (long sandy hair, 40ish) looked bored, distracted, and very uninterested in his job. There were 2 couples and one 7 mo. old infant in our party. The baby was very quiet during the entire dinner so she did not disrupt anything, but maybe he did did not like a baby there?? Not sure, just guessing. A server can make or break a good meal. We were treating out of town guests to our highly touted dining choice and he caused a damper on the evening with his bored, dour attitude. More cheerful servers please!

Our server must have been distracted. They "forgot" to put in a portion of our order (one dish plus one beverage). Additionally the water refills were few and far between. We've dined here before and enjoy eating here, the food is always good but service was disappointing on this night.

The service was top notch and being that I was there for my anniversary the staff were fantastic in making our night feel special. End to end great service and food was amazing, my wife is still talking about it.

Awesome food, great service! We had the grilled octopus for an appetizer... What a great choice that was, is was so tender and delicious that my pant became tight and awkward for me to stand up, but it was totally worth the wet mark on my dockers and the O face I gave to the server.

Place seem really busy, yet the food didn't take long to get to our table, dishes where not really memorable or exellent, rest of the menu seemed pretty bland.
Desert was overpriced to be 4 dougnut holes with smeared Nutella, and they where out of the wine I was drinking so I couldn't buy a bottle.
The check took forever to get to our table, there is nothing that I would come back for.

Great suggestions from our waiter Christian. We gave Cucina Enoteca another chance from not so good dinners a few years back and glad we did. Overall experience was very pleasing. As new residents of Solana Beach we will be going back again.

Food is always reliable and good. Waiter was new and he was dufus. It was not busy. he was poorly trained. Very disappointing after the wonderful servers we have experienced previously. He had attitude, tossed the check on the table, forgot things, and was generally moe in to himself than serving us

The food was very good Italian and comforting. The ambiance was very relaxed and what a pleasant surprise to find that they sell goodies for the home! My only regret was having ordered the rissotto, which had calamari on top. The rissotto itself was very good, but unfortunately the calamari was only boiled and had a fishy flavor to it. I would have preferred grilled. The pasta was soooo good. The selection of the kids' menu was also very good and I was glad to see it had various options. We had to keep requesting water, which was the only bad thing about the service because they were busy and water serving was not a big priority.

After getting engaged, our parents were finally meeting for the first time. The food was amazing and fresh; everyone loved their dishes. Only problem was the waiter. My parents were driving in from LA, and they were hopelessly stuck in traffic. The waiter kept asking if we wanted to go ahead and order, even though we repeatedly said we were fine and that we will wait for two more guests. He seemed annoyed. For the most part, he was great - filled the water cups, made sure my future mother-in-law had refills of her iced tea ready, etc. Then toward the end of our meal, he kept trying to remove the french fries even though we were actively reaching for it and still eating it. Twice we've had to say, "Wait, we are still eating it." It seemed kind of ridiculous. I've never had a waiter that was so persistent about trying to clear the table. If we are reaching for the fries, why are you trying to take it away? That was really odd and off-putting.
