Collage Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Our experience at Collage was disappointing. Our server seemed to me to be an inexperienced young college aged woman not a seasoned restaurant staffer one might expect at a fine dinning restaurant charging what collage does for their offerings.
I ordered escargot and Grouper. I was served small "pieces" of escargot rather than the usual whole in the shell or compartmented serving dish. The size of the piece of fish was substantial and very tasty but was served with a meager portion of vegetables (mostly carrots) and a few tablespoons of rice. My wife ordered lamb, which I tasted, and felt it was mediocre at best.
The tables were situated so closely together it was extremely difficult to be seated initially or get up to use the restroom. This also made it impossible to have a private conversation or not hear the conversations of those around us. The heat was turned up to an uncomfortable temperature.
We ordered cake in a box to go and asked for a check which I had to repeat several times before our server understood my request. The tiny portion of cake was not much better than what you might find in the frozen section of the grocery.
Overall poor marks for this overpriced and over rated restaurant. Poor value for the price.
It takes us about an hour to reach Collage so it is definitely a special occasion restaurant. We paired it with a visit to the Lightner Museum and their special Downton Abbey exhibit and the St. Augustine Christmas lights. What a wonderful December Sunday! At Collage, we shared a wonderful burrata and the short rib agnolotti. We followed up with a special beef fillet with lobster tail and foie grass and a veal dish in a flavorful cream sauce. Dessert was chocolate cake with small cinnamon donuts and 2-3 sauces. Everything was as special as we hoped and worth the trip.
Lovely restaurant, good food, excellent service. The service was good but not overly fussy which we like. Unfortunately it was a cold wet night and our table was in a draughty spot (which is why we have marked lower) we will definitely go again when we are I St Augustine.
My husband and I were celebrating his 70th birthday and our 43th anniversary. I requested a quiet romantic table. We were not disappointed. Not only was our dinner absolutely delicious but beautifully presented. The staff was professional, accommodating and warmly friendly. The owner extended his congratulations and surprised my husband with delectable cake topped with a birthday candle. Our experience was a pure delight. Far exceeded our expectations. Will definitely be back.
We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary here on December 4th. As always, the food is top notch, as well as the service. I did realize this is beer and wine only, which limits those who can’t enjoy wine and beer due dietary restrictions, but this was a minor issue only. They have one of the best menus and the chef is always above and beyond. The seating could be better structured, as we were very near the other couples, which can take away from the romantic setting. Overall, highly recommended.
We called ahead and they graciously were able to seat us a bit earlier then reservation.
We started with escargot. They do not serve them ensconced in the puff pastry but along side in sauce. Sauce a bit overwhelming and would have preferred in the pastry
The truly southern dish pork shoulder was excellent the collards were not to my husbands liking. He is a true southern guy.
The seafood medley was very good but once again sauce overwhelming. Scallops seemed a little small for diver’s. Great service good wine list not to pricey.
All said, we would return when visiting this beautiful city.
This is one of the best restaurants that we have visited. The food, service and ambience were all excellent. This restaurant serves only wine and beer. The wine list is ample and the prices are extremely reasonable. Expect a visit at your table by the owner, Mike.
A definite gem.
I am not exaggerating.Collage is quite simply the best restaurant in town and my dinner several days ago strongly reaffirmed that belief. The food, service and ambiance were outstanding!
My wife had the house salad while I had the mushroom bisque. Both were exceptionally good. We both had the Fresh Black Grouper ~Lightly Coated In A Parmesan, Pecan & Brown Sugar Crust Then Baked & Finished With A Beurre Blanc. We easily agreed that it was the best fish dish we have ever had - anywhere. We finished our meal with some regular coffee which was rich and very flavorful.
If you are celebrating a special occasion, I can't think of a finer restaurant. They do everything right.
I was impressed with the food, atmosphere and service. I read previous reviews and was expecting a good experience. I was not disappointed. The lobster ravioli was superb. As one of my favorite dishes, previously ordered at fine restaurants in LA and NY, this dish was the best of them all. I would definitely recommend going to this restaurant. We also had a late reservation (9:30) and stayed late, and the staff treated us like we were the only ones there. Five stars! Well Done!!
Just came back from a return trip to St Augustine and the dining highlight of the trip was Saturday dinner at Collage. The gnocchi appetizer was the perfect share item. The Lamb duo entrée consisted of Lollipop Lamb Chops and Lamb Sausage and both were done to perfection.
Our servers name was Scott and he did an excellent job with service and menu recommendations
Loved this place! The food and atmosphere were a perfect setting for a romantic last meal after a long weekend trip. The pork shoulder meal and beef tenderloin looked appealing and tasted even better. Collage restaurant was perfect for a quiet and romantic setting in a cozy downtown location. I can’t wait to return and try something new.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Collage based on an enthusiastic recommendation from a family member. They were not wrong. We loved it! The food and service were outstanding. Fresh bread was brought to the table with basil infused oil for dipping. Roasted garlic also appeared and my wife could not stop raving as she spread it on the bread. We shared the escargot in puff pastry as an appetizer and it was delicious. The entrees consisted of beef tenderloin in truffle butter and black grouper with a parmesan, pecan and brown sugar crust. While the beef was excellent, it was the grouper that stole the show. It was fantastic! Neither one of us had room for dessert, but we will make sure we do next time. This has become our new go to place. Just terrific!
