Food was very subpar. Eggs over cooked. Crab cakes 90% filler. Potatoes cold. Croissants cold, hard and tasted day-old.
Wait staff was nice, but took eons even though we were among first in at opening and restaurant largely empty. Had to get up and go find the waitress twice.

Long time fan
Brunch was disappointing: biscuits & gravy - barely warm & gravy almost flavorless
Dessert: love the key lime pie but this time the consistency was unpleasant - gelatanous- not what it usually is!
Will certainly revisit & expect a return to previous wonderful food experience

An Austin staple, brunch is excellent. Drop the mic great for brunch! Excellent desserts, friendly waitstaff, good coffee, tons of GF choices and non GF choices, and a fun atmosphere while having an accommodating noise level for intimate conversation.

This was my last time at Chez Zee since I am relocating from Austin. I love this restaurant!
The food is consistently great. My complaint on this visit was the wait staff. Our waiter was all hovering over us in the beginning of the evening, then not responding as the evening went on.
I had a selzer wth a splash of cranberry - he charged me $3.50 for the cranberry and $2.50 for the water! Once I complained, he did have management revise the bill to $3.50.
Mistakes on the bill have happened at 2 previous meals. I suggest that everyone carefully read their dining tab. I am sure it is just the wait staff not being careful since management has always been responsive to the mistakes.

I was celebrating my birthday with lifelong girlfriends and Chez Zee was the perfect setting. Our waiter was nice without being obsequious and a wonderful mind reader! He helped the flow of the meal beautifully . As far as noise levels...my table might have gotten a little loud, but very late in the lunch hour! Thanks, Chez Zee!

Have been dining here since it opened as Chez Fred. Outstanding, updated menu, fun décor with original art, romantic setting, soft light, unobtrusive service. Always excellent presentation and food. A favorite since 1980.Best dessert menu in Austin, all on display. patio can be loud with a large group, but this is rare and you just have to ask and they will seat you away from it. Reservations are always ready when you arrive-even if you are a few minutes early. If I operated a restaurant, I would want it to be like Chez Zee.

We are regulars at Chez Zee but I have to say this was a disappointing dining experience. The quiche was overcooked, the omelette was swimming in some sort of sauce that did not live up to the description on the menu and my biscuits and gravy were on the verge of being cold. The only thing that we were not disappointed in was the Creme Brule French Toast. I had asked for a table in the atrium away from the piano player but, unfortunately, we were seated almost right next to the piano which made it difficult to hear at times. We are not giving up on Chez Zee, just disappointed that we didn't have a better experience.

The ambiance was Awesomest! It really was. Everyone was very hospitable. I was entertaining a Community Partnering Colleague and he absolutely loved it. The piano has to be one of my absolute fave pianos in all of Austin, Texas!
The cuisine was absolutely decadent! The evening was absolutely perrrrrrfecto!!!

Great location and they accept reservations which for a lunch meeting is a definite plus. The staff was very polite and customer service oriented. The food is good but it's not great. Portion size is good but the food just seemed middle of the road. In the past we have gone to Che Zee for brunch which was much better. I would still recommend and go again but with adjusted expectations.

This place has been recommended to me many times and we were not disappointed in the least. Fantastic atmosphere with a piano player and AMAZING food. Don't take my word for it, make a reservation and see for yourself.

Great place for dessert and late night dining. Also nice to get together with friends for lunch or snacks. Live music some nights. Well-renowned for brunch, especially creme brulee French toast. Try the lemon rosemary cake - it's delicious with a divine buttercream frosting. You can even share the flourless chocolate torte with your gluten free friends. The Aztec corn and shrimp bisque is a long-lived favorite. Enjoy it with the fresh baked bread that comes complimentary with your order.

Booked a reservation for our daughter's 21st birthday. They gave us a quiet, corner spot with a Happy 21st Birthday table sign greeting her. The meal was delicious and, of course, we couldn't leave without enjoying a couple of their delicious desserts. Another wonderful special occasion at Chez Zee!

We went to Chez Zee for a birthday celebration and Chez Zee went out of their way to make it a memorable experience! There was a Happy Birthday sign on the table when we arrived. Everyone loved the food and dessert was awesome! Chez Zee even provided a special birthday dessert with 'Happy Birthday' written on the plate in chocolate. Thanks Chez Zee for an amazing evening!

I picked Chez Zee for celebrating a friends birthday. This is our go to restaurant for our group. Great food , experienced service, the food comes out in a timely manner, hot, and looking great. The staff knows the dishes, so if you order something you haven't had before staff can

The menu is relatively diverse, and all dishes were well prepared and well presented. Wait staff was attentive, but not intrusive. I've visited Chez Zee multiple times and their consistency in quality of food and service is quite high, such that I need to remind myself to frequent Chez Zee more often.

The food is always fabulous. Today we had the Baked Polenta Eggs Benedict and Chez Zee's legendary coconut cream pie. The food was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Chez Zee's is a destination for us whenever we come to Austin. We'd almost drive down from Fort Worth just to have brunch here.
