Carmine's - Las Vegas Ratings and Reviews
We first discovered Carmine's on Amsterdam Ave in NYC many years ago, then visited Carmine's in Times Square several times,k then when we discovered Las Vegas had one, we have made it a point to have supper there whenever we visit. Excellent food and service as well as value. We love the energy of Carmine's.
We love it. Aside from the horrible service which we have never had before, we love it. We visit the vegas location at least 2 times a year as well as the AC and NYC locations.
The server took our order and we didn't see him after. Literally, we saw other servers and a manager served our food. Management went above and beyond to make us feel appreciated and compensated.
I've been to Carmine's NYC location many times. The Las Vegas location was exactly what I'd expect in NYC, as I hoped. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. I often recommend Carmine's to friends, whether they are headed to NYC or LV, and they always love it. It's tough to pull off family-style dining with just the two of us, but we planned for it. We ordered a little heavy, but the wait staff packaged all of the leftovers well and we carted them home, where we enjoyed them for a couple more days. Good thing our flight wasn't long. The aroma of the food was wafting through the plane, and more than one passenger commented on how good it smelled. We were lucky to get out with our leftovers intact!
I'm on an Atkins diet. I keep my carbs to about 30 grams per day. For me to eat a big bowl of pasta is a tremendous sacrifice. I forgo my Atkins diet for Carmine's. It's that good. No regrets after. No guilt felt. I even mop up the gravy with bread. I am proud to say the plates always go back to the dishwasher completely clean.
We had dinner with a large group - first time here. Menus are on the wall but not very easily visible from our table. We finally got a print menu - just one, for a party of 11. The menu is completely not descriptive so you have to ask about everything to understand what you are ordering. But don't bother because you can't even hear your own questions let alone the server's answers. The staff try hard. But the food is just plain unpalatable: Mostly over cooked seafood, bland meat and pasta. It can be a bargain but it's really not worth it. The food quality is on par with an Italian style food court eatery. There are much better places to eat in Vegas.
Food was good but serves large family style plates only. Unless you sit at the bar. I was disappointed I didn't know this before hand. I feel you are taking a family or large group is perfect but if just two of you recommend another place. Service was excellent, but is weird you have to look up at this huge menu on the wall...it was right above us and felt people were stairing at us all the time and it takes away from the ambiance of the restaurant. My opinion at that.
Carmines never disappoints! I've eaten at both New York locations numerous times and always loved it. This was my first time at the Las Vegas location and I was very happy with the food and service! We were on vacation as a party of six and everyone was satisfied! Huge portions that were delicious and a great value as well! It is located in the Forum shops at Caesars Palace and makes for a great place to stop and relax while shopping, gambling, or sightseeing!
We were celebrating my husband's birthday with a party of 11. The table was ready upon arrival. The host was prompt and helpful. We were seated even though a few of our friends were a little late. Our server was very helpful in assisting us with our order. The Cesar salad was served almost immediately which was nice because we were all very hungry. We also ordered a few pasta dishes. Our favorite was the linguini and clams with white sauce. They don't have cake so we ordered the Titanic. It's a huge ice cream dessert with fruit and brownie. It was perfect for our party of 11. I would recommend this restaurant for parties of 4 or more. We had a great time with great service and delicious food.
Well it was a disappointment. We were really looking forward to it. We couldn't get half size orders unless you ate in the bar. There was only two of us for our anniversary. Which was crowded and cramped. The Carmine salad was terrible actually made us a bit sick. Definitely not fresh and it was obvious.
But the Veal saltimucca was fantastic.
The menu was on the walls. Well if we were closer we could have read it. Had to walk up to one to read it. No menus to hold.
But the comments we got back on anything was thats how we do it.
Food portions are HUGE family style. Great for a group, way too much food for two. Great ambiance. Vibrant, ton of food, everyone digging in type of feel. Fun.
Big lighted menus on walls are too difficult to see from a lot of places. The decor is amazing, rich Nee York feel, but the menu thing is annoying.
Admittedly we knew nothing about Carmine's except that it seemed busy, the menu seemed enjoyable. When we arrived they asked us if we were going to eat small portions or large ones...?? We had to ask what that meant and then found out that if you were a party of two (as we were) and wanted regular individual portions you had to sit at the bar or at high tables near the bar. To eat in the main dining room you have to order family size sharing dishes. So that was what we did. There are two different menus for these choices and the one with individual dishes is very limited - so...
The lettuce on the salad was not fresh but rather had brown discoloration on it. The pasta dish was only so-so. Oh, and the menu is on the wall so once you sit down you have to stand back up again to look at it.
The service was very good, but we would not go here again. Was reminiscent of a cafeteria and not something we would knowingly choose to do.
I made a reservation for 2 and when the restaurant called to confirm they never mentioned it was family style. Upon arrival we noticed the large portions and the hostess told us we could order smaller portions in the bar area but we would have to wait for a seat. The manager then approached us because she saw that we didn't understand why we would have to wait for a seat. The manager was not accommodating at all. In fact, she said most people know that it is a family style restaurant and they don't usually make reservations for two. After expressing my disappointment for several minutes she finally said we could order an appetizer for the inconvenience. It should have never gotten to that point. The manager was unprofessional and did not make us feel welcome at all. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Vegas.
