the special of the day was excellent. it was pork tenderloin on pasta salad
I had the ribeye steak with couscous. The couscous was crunchy and difficult to eat with my cracked tooth. I ordered it, because I assumed couscous would be soft. Not sure if it was undercooked or suppose to be that way. The favor was good, I just couldn't eat it. The steak knives were not very sharp. I had a hard time cutting the steak. I used my butter knife to show my husband how dull the knives were, as the butter knife cut similarly. The steak was cooked perfect, tasted wonderful. They simply need to sharpen their knives. I asked for a second knife, but it wasn't better. We ordered the shrimp and brussel sprout app and it was fabulous. My husband had the salmon and he said it was great.
Excellent fried oysters n rice!!’
Cappy’s is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is consistently good, the ambiance is great and it’s priced well. I highly recommend it.
Great food and always address my wife’s food allergies.
Sticky toffee pudding the best.
Really enjoyed our first visit here, I wish we had tried it sooner! Everything was fantastic. We will definitely be back.
Everything is good whether you want fish, steak, or a hamburger. There is a good variety of choices that are all fresh and very well prepared.
My wife and I have dined here before and it never disappoints. We got the appetizer crab cakes and halibut for dinner and both were amazing. The best anywhere!
Wonderful meal, excellent wait staff and the entire team was so accommodating. We grew from a party of 6 to 8 people and they were most helpful in making sure we had a good experience. They even lent me a shawl when I discovered I had left mine at home.
Food wise they cooked my lamb chops perfectly and my husband’s ribeye as well. He lived the bone marrow butter. If we return to San Antonio we will definitely go back!
Cappy's is always a go to spot before or after a visit to the McNay or Witte. Good food, good service, quite and they make a great Pisco Sour, which you don't find everywhere
I have been coming to Cappy's since 1999, but I never feel like I regular here like I do at places I dine at just as frequently (examples of places we frequent: Chauma Gaucha, The Palm, Maggiano's, Whiskey Cake, La Fonda on Main, Perry's, Ruth Chris). I guess it must be because we sit outside and do appreciate that we can bring out well mannered service dog. We generally always sit outside on the patio. I would like to bring to your attention that without fail, the restaurant nearly always falls out on crediting open table reservations and it is a thorn in the side having to respond to reservation fall outs secondary to a deficiency of the check in process nearly every single time we dine here.
Cappy's is a long-time favorite; it never disappoints. It doesn't identify itself as a seafood restaurant, but I think it has some of the best seafood in town!
This was our first trip to Cappy's as out-of-towners who visited on the recommendation of family members who live near by. The food was absolutely exceptional and nicely plated. The portions were just right and left us both feeling satisfied with room to share a delicious dessert. Equally important and impressively well done was the attentive service. From the moment we arrived our hostess, wait staff and restaurant management ALL made us feel welcome and important. We left feeling certain to return in the future.
Great as always
My dad’s meal was great. My fish was uncooked, even after sending it back. They comped my meal which was appropriate. We’ve been to cappys many times and will go back. They seemed overwhelmed by the Mother’s Day crowd.
Always pleased with the service and the food when we dine at Cappy's. Will continue to return.
Always wonderful! Consistently great food and service in a charming atmosphere.
My husband took me to Cappy's for Mother's Day brunch. The food and service were excellent. We sat on their outdoor patio, which was nice. You would never know you were near the parking area, though I feel metal bistro style furniture would be suitable for this style restaurant over plastic.
Food was good as usual. We will go back but I hope that some changes are made to the brunch menu. It could use some updating. Most of the items including the special are poached eggs so those should be good. Mine was OK. Gumbo was good. Cobbler was good. This is a favorite brunch spot but I’m less and less excited about the menu.
Beautiful brunch outside on a beautiful day!
Everything was great, from the food to the service. And even though my wife got sick later that night, we will be back again! (She thinks it was the mussels)
Wonderfully crafted selections from heaven!
The food is always fabulous and service impeccable !
Super amazing food and service
Truly one of San Antonio's restaurant gems for many years. Food is always spot on.
Our group of 5 enjoyed our meal, which was the Sunday brunch.
Food was great as usual. But I have to say that I was very disappointed that you did not recognize our 40th Anniversary. Did you not receive that information with my reservation?
Their food never disappoints! Our server was wonderful and friendly and we had a great time with great food. Highly recommend the truffle eggs with crab and lobster for brunch!!
My go-to place for out of town friends and special occasions. My wife and I have enjoyed Cappy's for over 20 years. Saturday was the first time I have ever been disappointed........everything ordered by our group was excellent (as expected) with the exception of the grilled oyster appetizer......the oysters were microscopic! However, this one bad experience with a single dish does not change my overall opinion.......still love Cappy's!
Everything was excellent and Elizabeth our wait person was knowledgeable and excellent .
We were very disappointed. We have been coming to Cappy's for a while now and it is generally very good. We took my sister who was out of town, my son, who never goes out to eat with us. I have the scallops, they were wonderful, my sister had the halibut, it smelled fishy, but she said that it was good. My son had the rib eye, it was awful, tasted like charcoal starter, and it was over cooked, and tough. My husband had the filet, it was over cooked. When we arrived my sister asked what was good and my husband replied "I have never had anything bad here." Well, can't say that anymore. We didn't say anything at the time because we didn't want to make a scene. The waitress was non attentive as well. Hope this was just a fluke.
Lunch was great. We were celebrating our union and knew cappy wouldn't fail. Lunch was great. Wait wasn't long at all. The only disappointment to my husband was no prime rib during lunch. Otherwise, good as always!!
Great service and great atmosphere
Dining at Cappy's is always such a pleasure. Outstanding hospitable customer service from the front house team, delicious and creative cuisine from the chef prepared with fresh, quality ingredients and a refined yet relaxed atmosphere with the feel of having a meal at a close friend or family member's home all make for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I had a delicious weeknight dinner of a pepita encrusted softshell crab (the appetizer special of the night), PEI mussels and my favorite "must order" side dish, brussel sprouts (the best in the city, in my opinion!). Cappy's warm, slightly sweet, multi grain house bread is splurge worthy as are their decadent scratch made desserts. Cappy's is the perfect destination for a relaxing, everyday meal or for a special occasion celebration.
Another great dinner and evening at Cappy’s. They never fail to disappoint. Alex, our server, was excellent and on target with his recommendations.
We were there for a business dinner with a potential new-hire. The server was knowledgeable, made wonderful recommendations, and perfectly balanced attentive with giving us plenty of time for conversation. The food and beverages were perfect. Excellent evening.
I love Cappy’s! Your gumbo is the best! Our attendant (Jami?) was really good.
As always, it was a pleasure to celebrate my belated birthday at Cappy's. I was a bit disappointed not to sit upstairs, but Monday nights are apparently not the nights for "higher-level" dining. Our waitperson, Jami, was attentive, pleasant, and well-informed and moved effortlessly among several tables, providing good service to all of us. Only negative besides not being able to be seated upstairs was the table of VERY noisy people, who were seated beside us. That, of course, is not the restaurant's fault. It can get a bit noisy at Cappy's, but the food and the service win out every time.
Wonderful experience, fantastic food in a great atmosphere. Wait staff went out of their way to celebrate our Anniversary.
