I moved to Charlotte about 18 months ago and found Cafe Monte and my son and I love it-We go there about once a month -I have had many things on the menu and whether it's Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner the food is always great! My favorite is the chicken and mushroom crepes. Service is attentive and friendly too!

We had a reservation for 7:30 on a Saturday night. Our table was not ready for at least thirty minutes so the restaurant does not have it together in this regard. It's very annoying having a lot of people jammed up in the entrance area waiting for their tables.

The food was good not great like so many of the reviews. The service was okay. We made a reservation in advance but we were seated in the bar area at a very small table with uncomfortable small chairs. The dining room has more comfortable chairs and larger tables. I was only given one glass of water and had to request another glass at the end of the meal when server was ready to give us our bill. The server had no back up and he was hustling to keep up with his tables. Most fine dining restaurants have back up for their servers who make sure customers have water or if they need a refill on drinks. I left a generous tip because I did not fault the server because he had no help. I enjoyed the meal enough to give it another try. Hopefully, the server will have help or less table to serve on next visit.

Wonderful meal. We all had the short rib beef bourguignon. My wife had a well made cocktail, and I had a delicious Malbec with mine. We also had desserts, which I highly recommend. Service was professional. Conversation noise was present but not bothersome, easy to understand family at the table. I personally prefer that to silence. The cocktails are martini themed. The wine not overpriced by restaurant standards, and well selected by the glass options.

Sorry to say but our recent reservation at Café Monte was not all that pleasant .My wife & I had a reservation on Saturday October 1st . The hostess seated us as soon as we arrived on time. We sat for 15 minutes before our waiter Richie approached our table. He was sweaty and in a hurry mode. He took our order after we had to repeat it twice. I received my soup on time but we had to wait a considerable amount of time for our entrees. All the food & drink was excellent. When we presented a coupon with our check we were told to make sure that we tip off the original amount and not the discounted amount ? Seems like Café Monte was understaffed or couldn't handle the crowd on Saturday night ? We'll probably be back but not for awhile. Thank you. Bill S.

The food was pretty average but the service was not good. We never got bread until I asked for it when our entrees were served instead of before our meals arrived. Our waitress was not very observant and had too many tables to take care. They seated a large table by our table and that was all she was interested in serving.

Excellent French restaurant! There is a mixture of French and alternate food (its not all escargot) and the dishes are very well-prepared. Warm bread and real butter come to the table first, and you should go ahead and request an extra loaf. Each item is a la carte, so the price can add up if you like soup and salad before every meal. However, we did not have a single bad item of the 6 that we shared. The desserts are rich and delicious. They have beignets! They are simple, with confectioners sugar, but they are perfect for an after-meal coffee.

Cafe Monte is one of my favourite restaurants. My guests and/or companions are never disappointed in the food and we all always find it a special experience and an out-of-the-ordinary place to meet and enjoy a meal together. It is a bit of a drive for all of us or we would probably go more often. Whether I am inviting a young person (I am not young), someone in my circle, or an older loved/respected friend; a new-comer to the area or a long-time resident, they all seem to feel like they have been "treated." Cafe Monte doesn't disappoint or let me down.

We have eaten here a number of times and have always enjoyed CM.
Very nice meal and "good" service.
One recommendation, when customers want left over food to go "very good" service would be to take the plates to the back and box it for them there rather than having them box it themselves at the table (as you would expect at Dennys for example).

Cafe Monte is unique in Charlotte, in terms of the kinds of food available (French and French-influenced food served in a nice but casual and non-fussy environment. Because it is so good, it can also be busy during peak dining times. Use Open Table to reserve your table.

I had not seen the new decor and I loved it! I remember the former restaurant location and the vibe of the old was captured in the current. My husband ordered the wrong thing, no one's fault, so he did not enjoy the food as much as I did. The trout was really good. The 5 star however goes to the mussels I ordered. They were fantastic.
I plan to go again for a special dinner.
