Menu selections were amazing. So many to choose from. Loved the ambience, it was cozy and personable. Food was excellent I had the Ropa Vieja sandwich and we had a Pastele. Wow. Plus croquetas. Sauce was too spicy for my liking because I'm a light weight.
Nice Valentine Dinner
First time at Café Latino and it won't be my last. The food was tasty and plentiful. I really enjoyed listening to the music and our conversation with the owner. We live an hour away from this restaurant but whenever we are in Chicago, we will make a stop at Café Latino.
I expected flavorful food that would whisk my palate away on a temporary trip to San Juan. Well, not so much. The food was not very flavorful and a tad bit greasy. I ordered the roast pork and it was dry. Every thing that we tried from appetizers to entrees left a lot to be desired, with one exception, they served a drink called a Rumgria (self-explanatory), which was pretty good. However, I was deeply disappointed that I had hoped to have found "my new spot", but rather found myself wanting to go somewhere else and get my PR food fix. It is sad though because it is an adorable place, conveniently located, and the young lady who served us was very pleasant. I hope they get better, but in the meanwhile, I do not think I will be going back.
