Lovely atmosphere and almost no noise. This restaurant brings the memory of the good old times. I was there on many occasions before - for the lovely outdoor lunch or the business group outing for the accomplishment celebration. This is why people like it - it's the value and and - you can afford it, because you worked hard.

In my view, Brennan’s is the best restaurant in Houston, though often taken for granted and over looked. The food, wine, style and professionalism is consistent and never leaves me lacking for a better dining experience.

Brennan's is a long-time favorite. We were celebrating the birthday of one of our friends and asked for a quiet room and table. Brennan's acknowedged our request and seated us at a relatively quiet table. Our guests ordered steak and crabcakes and both exclaimed about how good they were. In fact, the steak passed around the table so we all could get an idea of "how a good steak should taste." Quote from our guest. I had the crabcakes as well. It was all crab with definitely zero breadcrumbs. My kind of crabcake. My only complaint was that I did have multiple pieces of shell in the crabcake. My husband ordered snapper on the half shell and thought it was marginal -- really the only one who thought their meal was not up to par. He wished he had ordered the steak. I asked if they had the chocolate souffle and as soon as the meal was over, the souffle arrived for us to sample. We loved the souffle and were glad that it came. But note to staff that we didn't actually place the dessert order, nor were the other guests asked if they wanted dessert before the souffle arrived. It was an assumption that we would all share. I felt a bit uncomfortable with the casualness of this presumption. But, our guests did not seem to mind. As always, still one of the best dining experiences in Houston. We will continue to go back... and often.

Watch out for sharp objects in our food! I waited to write this review since because I gave the restaurant the opportunity to respond after I wrote them a private email. They never responded.
My husband and I were visiting our son in Houston and decided to eat at Brennan's. There were 4 of us and 3 decided to have steak. I have to say the wait staff was very attentive. The management not so much. My son was chewing his steak and found a piece of metal in it. Who knows what kind of damage that could have caused if he hadn't spit it out! We gave the object to the waiter who gave it to the manager who brought one of the young chefs to our table. The chef stated he thought it was a metal piece from a grill brush and asked my son what dessert he liked. He said he didn't want dessert and they said OK and left. Seriously! A high end expensive restaurant that prides themselves on their quality of food does nothing. We weren't looking for a hand out, but you would think with a $444.00 bill they would have at least comped his steak. Poor management. If you order steak at this restaurant make sure you check it thoroughly or it might harm you.

Brennan's in Houston is one of my all time favorite restaurants. The service is 5 star as is the food. I have spent many special date nights, birthdays, anniversaries and Sunday brunches at this wonderful restaurant. It is the flagship restaurant of the Houston food scene and Houston would not be the same without it. I highly recommend a meal at Brennan's if you are in Houston.

First class gastronomy with absolutely perfect service. I love the ambiance of all parts of the restaurant, but ..... Management should try to fill one room completely before scattering dinners around to various rooms that are less occupied. It would make for a better dining experience for everyone. Minor point but a very critical one in my opinion.

This restaurant is absolutely superb! The food was exquisite with service to match. It was our anniversary and they seated us at a very beautiful and quiet table. The bananas foster was a dessert to remember and the featured wine was everything promised. The seafood was very fresh and cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion!

My husband an I celebrated my birthday here. We were seated by a hostess with no menus and no wine list and after 5 minutes a waitress came to our table to take our drink order with no menus and no wine list. Right when I began to think we had made a huge mistake by choosing Brennan's , a different waiter showed up with a smile and menus and a wine list. We ordered oysters on the half shell, turtle soup, filet Oscar, and for dessert we had Bananas Foster prepared table side, all of which were delicious. The wine list was extensive. It was a good experience once we were past the initial seating faux pas . We will be back.

I took my cousin from the West Coast to Brennan's to try Louisiana cuisine and he enjoyed it much. The reception and room decors are inviting, including the bar area which I may try in the future. Although there were many tables, the room was not noisy at all; in fact, I wish there were some background music, like soft jazz to add to the atmosphere (I went on a Wednesday night).
The service was excellent; the food was good but seemed to need a touch of more salt (not a problem if you are trying to keep your blood pressure under control, but the food needed a little bit more of salt). My wife loved the cocktails and I had a nice cold beer.
This is a nice place to be when you want a formal setting and full service.

Brennan's was the perfect place to celebrate our friend's 40th wedding anniversary!! They placed a gold ribbon on our table, as they always do for celebrations. Our favorite waiter Thomas served us, as well as his assistants. We never feel rushed or "over attended" at Brennan's. We had a delightful evening!!

I have eaten at many fine restaurants in Houston but I always return to Brennans for awesome food and excellent service in a atmosphere that is so classic and elegant-southern hospitality!
How can an establishment stay in business for so long and maintain a great reputation such as Brennans!
This is truly a Houston institution!

We are originally from New Orleans and moved here after Katrina, we have been coming to Brennan's of Houston every year to celebrate special occasions. We love everything about it. My husband's birthday is in September and we love the Wine and Dine for $99. We also went for our anniversary and our waiter was Valentin. We requested him again for my husband's birthday. What a gentleman!!!!! The service was impeccable.

My husband and I went there for our 6-year anniversary and it was fantastic! The service was amazing, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was romantic! The waiters (yes - multiple!) were very helpful in helping us decide what we wanted and even gave us a free dessert for our special occasion. Overall, if you want a romantic, upscale, restaurant with great food, great ambiance, and great service... this is the spot for you!

We went for a family birthday celebration. We had a great meal! I wish they had a few simple items on the menu suitable for our ten-year-old though: she loved the beignets but there really wasn't anything on the menu that she could eat--for example, a fruit salad orfrench toast ...
Three of us had eggs Benedict and sardou, one had soft shell crab, and one had shrimp and grits. Yum.

Well, I had sent a request on my electronic reservation, and Brennan's never got back to me on the request. I had a vegan diner with me, and they were not able to accommodate. It was a lost opportunity. We like Brennans, but they need to respond to requests to let us know if they can handle them. It would also be a good idea to have a vegan option, however slight. Houston is a good food town, but as far as vegan options go, it's non-existent.

Always a special treat as food and service are consistently excellent and presented beautifully. The 3-course dine & wine is great value with salad, small filet & crab cake plus dessert. I had bananas foster prepared table dude, my husband, bread pudding. We applied the allowed cost of wine to an upgrade. A truly memorable meal!

We enjoyed a lovely meal with superior service for our belated anniversary dinner. The turtle soup, bananas foster, and pralines were as delicious as we'd heard. They definitely live up to the hype! The filet mignon and gulf snapper pontchartrain were both superb, as well. The ambiance was cozy and romantic.

My husband and I enjoyed dinner during restaraunt week and had an amazing 3 course meal! We were introduced to a lovely Italian bottle of Pinot noir. The service, ambience and quality of food were all exceptional! We look forward to our next meal at Brennan's.

We ordered the $99 special meal for two. Menu said wine was included but we were charged extra $48. Menu and waiter said you could combine two entrees at no extra charge. I ordered filet and shrimp and grits. When my plate came, there were 3 grilled shrimp with my steak on the plate. No grits. I was charged $8 extra for the 3 shrimp. Another person at our table ordered ceviche. Waiter said it would come in an 8 oz. dish. Wrong! It came in a small dish, 3 oz. possibly, with no shrimp. When we asked waiter about it, he took it back and brought another bigger dish with ceviche that had shrimp in it. Our waiter was very polite but his broken English made it hard to explain the issues. A manager came each time, trying to correct the problem. Too many mistakes in one night! Our experience was enough to turn us off this establishment for a while.

I was very disappointed in the food, taste, quality and especially temperature. I despise lukewarm meals and that was the case for my soup as well as my entree. My fish was very bland. The same was true for my husbands meal. Thank goodness for dessert, we both enjoyed the bananas foster. We came here for Houston Restaurant Weeks which gives us an opportunity to sample new restaurants & contribute to the cause. I have no interest to return to Brennan's!

We always enjoy our special dates at Brennan's and our daughter is planning to have her wedding reception there in November. The food is always good and the wait staff some of the best in the city. I want them to bring back duck on the menus. Yum.

Brennan's seems to have slipped a bit. We ordered from the HRW menu, which in past years has been delicious: turtle soup, gazpacho and salad, followed by catfish court bouillon, beef grillades and eggs Benedict. (No dessert offered on HRW menu this year). The only really excellent dishes were the turtle soup and the grits accompanying the beef. We'll probably return to Brennan's, but not for Restaurant Week.

I dine at Brennan's fairly often and have loved it . This time the service was slower than usual although the dining room was not that busy. I realize it was restaurant week's, but again it wasn't that busy and I have dined during restaurant week's before and had excellent service. Seemed like the staff was phoning it in that day. Normally as soon as I leave Brennan's I am looking forward to my next visit. This time not so much.
Food wasn't as awesome either. Just seemed below par for a normally great place.
