This is a fairly typical upscale steakhouse. Service was great, though, and drinks were generous. One if the best steaks I've ever had. Portions were enormous, and our waiter was kind enough to triple wrap our leftovers so we could fly home with them the next day

First time there and can't wait to go back...
Only thing I don't like is having to pay for valet parking but that may be the norm in the area being that I am from down south.
Go if you haven't been!!

Good food, good service right up until the waiter came back to inform me that my credit card was rejected. Paid cash, then called my credit card company who informed me that my charges from earlier in the day and after I had had lunch at Bobby Vans had gone thru - fault was the machine at the restaurant. Not acceptable, given the embarrassment etc. that comes from being told your card was "rejected." Better get the restaurant in to the 21st century sooner rather than later - -no more embarrassed customers because of your technology issues.

I ordered a filet and the waitstaff brought out a ribeye. It then took another 10 minutes or so to cook and bring out corrected. I watched my wife eat...and then my wife watched me eat. Didn't even offer to comp our drinks or dessert for the mix-up and lousy dining experience.

We went to Bobby Van's on 15th street. Seafood at a Steak restaurant was much better (crab Shrimp). The service very very good. Thanks Rod. We generally prefer a booth. The booth is worn out springs going you know where.
The steak was very salty and to be frank I think the quality cuts are not as advertised. I don't expect alot of waste on a $50+ steak. The chef apparently wants the steaks blackened and very rare regardless how you ask it cooked.

Great place to dine for ladies night out. Service was excellent, our server, Carlos was helpful with the menu and very attentive. We had a leisurely dinner and enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, dinner, and dessert. I recommend the shrimp and grits appetizer, the French Martini, and cheesecake. For my entrée, I asked the chef to prepare something that wasn't on the menu and he did. Can't get that anywhere nowadays. Portions were good, no one in our party ordered steaks but they seemed to be favs of some of the other diners, they are head turners for sure. Overall we had a great time.

Restaurant is ok, food quality is quite good but very unremarkable. Dining environment is nice, comfortable seating with good spacing. Not noisy - another plus. But for the kind of price you pay ($50 entrees) you'd better be on a generous expense account, otherwise, there are plenty of comparable or better options that cost a lot less.

A great steak house for lunch. Minutes from all tourist activities in the mall. Eat outside on the sidewalk for a view of the Washington Monument. Huge portions, my wife and I split the filet mignon and a side of veg and I could not finish my portion. They bring out as much fresh baked bread as you would like. One of the USA's best steak houses.

The food was excellent! My only wish is that we sat in the main dining area instead of the side dining spot where there was two large groups while we (party of two) were a bit out of place to sit there. We sat in a both but still it wasn't a good spot to dine. But again, the food was great!

The crab cake appetizer was fantastic (first time having it). I went for seafood this visit (since I've always gotten beef in the past), and my one complaint is that the shrimp scampi entrée had zero salt in it and tasted really bland until I added a dash of salt. I'm all for healthier meals, but most things need a dash of salt to bring out the proper flavor.

NY strip size was generous, served hot and done exactly as ordered. Side portion of mashed potatoes was generous too. They were tasty and not dried out. Shrimp bisque was my starter and it was flavorful and shrimp bites were plentiful. Waiter was great, nice balance between making sure we had what we needed and hovering. Did not feel the least bit rushed.

We were looking for somewhere to have a late dinner close to our hotel, and chose Bobby Van's Steakhouse, initially planning on having a steak. Instead, I had oysters and my wife had shrimp and grits, both of which we enjoyed. Her main was the crabcake, while I had the fish of the day, which was salmon, grilled on a bed of pilau rice. Again, very enjoyable. Hardly the sort of fare expected in a steak house, but was really good.

Salad was prepared waaay before being served as it was stone cold. Tomatoes should not be cold. Steak was close to rare when asked for medium- and it was cold. Very disappointed as I was hoping for a delicious experience. I'd only go back and hang in the bar as we've done before.

The people who work there are fantastic. I happen to hear the table behind us...two young women who both lied ans said the waiter told them they could both use Groupons. They were clearly lying. The manager was so kind he talked to the women and ok'd both of them using Groupons even though it was quite clear they weren't supposed to. He treated them quite well even though everyone could hear/tell they were not telling the truth.
Everyone is treated royally there. Thanks BVs!

What a delicious meal! I took my husband for his birthday and have nothing but excellent comments. We shared the Harries Salad, filet mignon, and the shrimp scampi. The portions are perfect for 2 people. The food is extraordinarily delicious. Our waiter, Rod, was courteous and very attentive. It is totally worth it!! Thank you Bobby Van's for making our evening very special!

I took my mom out to bobby v's and she has had ruth chris but i read reviews about it but i always judge by attending myself. My mom loved this place over her go to ruth chris decision for her bday. She said thanks to me and my brother for showing her a good time. She loved the selection from apps to the steak. She got the steak a perfect temperature and also had more than enough steak to be full. My brother and i had some steak and the tuna and oyster dish. Needless to say we felt pleased paying for excellent food and service for the price. Will visit again as i live and work in dc. It was a great find.
