Good American cuisine. Good value. Fast and very friendly service. Highly recommended.
Our waiter David was very friendly. My sirloin was very tender and juicy. This visit exceeded my expectations for it being my first visit. I will definitely be going back in the near future.
My husband and I came here for Father's Day. We both ordered a medium rare top sirloin with jalapeño butter for our Camp Fire Feast for two. My sides were roasted brussel sprouts and green beans. He had the au gratin and green beans. For our starter, we chose the spinach-artichoke dip. Dessert was a shared white chocolate bread pudding. The food was decent (mostly the steak).
The starter bread was dry and nothing special. Accompaniments were overcooked, veggies seemed like they had been boiled beforehand so no crisp green beans. The au gratin seemed like a basic baked potato with some cheese stirred in. The white chocolate bread pudding was too sweet and came completely smothered in caramel sauce. All of it was underwhelming.
The place is huge and has dated decor. Booth seats have old food stains on them and the overhead table lighting is so bright and harsh. We came in for lunch and the servers kept saying "enjoy your dinner" and referring to the time of day as "evening" probably because of the dark and dreary lighting. I felt depressed eating here.
Our server was good. Orders came out quickly and were correct. Drinks were topped off. Nothing negative in this area.
They have coupons and offer deals frequently. I can see why they have stayed open but this place isn't for us.
I would not come back.
Great food at fair prices.
Celebrating early Father’s Day
We were a party of 7 and have been here before. We come on a Monday so wait staff is not stressed and facility is not so loud. As waitress greeted us I asked if we could have separate bills. She was very nice--said yes. So I explained who were couples and who was a single. When we got to our coupons it became very confusing to us as to what she was explaining. Needless to say, several in our group were upset. We may return but it will be a while. Also, the menu is very helter- skelter and difficult to read. I am sure some sharp mind had fun putting it together but why wouldn't you put first things first??? Appetizers at the beginning and deserts at the end. I feel like the menu is a test and if I don't pass, I may miss out on something. I guess you never heard of the KISS method of life.
I was very disappointed with the food quality and the service was bad. We were the first customers in the restaurant and the food was served cold.. a steak served cold is NOT good. I'm overall very disappointed with Black Angus.
Steaks were great!!...main reason for going here is the booths are tall and allow for real conversation. Most restaurants are SO noisy it is almost impossible to really get to know a new person or couple. Black Angus allows that to happen.
It was great. My B’day was wonderful.
Our favorite restaurant in Fresno. Always have the BEST service. Love the appetizers and the prime rib. Love the Bread! OMG! I'm low carb and always am able to eat a great meal and still stay on my diet! Although I always cheat and have one bite of the bread because it's SO good. Salad is always ice cold which is how it should be! I can't eat the desserts but my husband LOVES them.
Great food friendly staff and great deal on the campfire feast
Service was slow, my ribeye was just a joke, over cooked and thin like. 1 $ ribeye . Bread came after we asked about it 2 x. Place really needs a facelift. Old
Carpets. Not happy at all.
Seated fast but waited an hour and a half for dinner which never came. The water came by with menu so we could order something different since they were out of prime rib and lobster!! An hour and s half passed before they knew they were out?? REALLY!!!
Always enjoy my visits here. Sean is excellent server. Very funny and attentive. Food wasn’t really warm enough but I didn’t complain.
I have been wanting to have dinner at the Black Angus and decided
Friday was a good time to do it. My wife loved it as didn't have to
cook dinner. The food was great but with the prawns most of the
steaks went home with us. Plenty of food and it was really good.
Wanted to have dessert BUT didn't have the room for it!
Recommend for dinner. Steaks cooked just right.
Just never have a bad experience, here no matter how busy or not. The staff is unfailingly friendly and helpful. The happy hour is outstanding and so is the value of beverages and food.
Went to the Fresno Black Angus for a birthday celebration. When we arrived on a Saturday afternoon, there was a party of 3 waiting in front of us. No one at the hostess station and the party said they didn't know where the hostess was. This was about an hour after the restaurant had already been open. We could see a bartender, a busser and virtually no one else. There was a party of two that had already been seated but the restaurant was pretty empty otherwise. A hostess showed up about 10 minutes later to seat the party in front of us and we waited another 10 minutes before we were seated. So now there are three parties seated including the four of us. We waited another 10 minutes before we were greeted at our table. There was one waiter working and his name was Dave. He was hustling around as there didn't seem to be anyone else. We had elderly parents with us and they were looking at the menu so it took about another 10 minutes before they could decide what they wanted. In the meantime another party of 3 was seated which Dave greeted. After we ordered, another party of 4 came . Again, Dave greeted them while serving beverages to some tables, bringing out appetizers to others, salad/soups to others, etc. Again, he was the only person waiting on the tables as well as delivering all the orders whether it was drinks and/or food. To shorten an already long story, we were there for 2 hours for a relatively simple meal because by the time we left, Dave was waiting on 6 tables with about 20+ diners in total. The positives, the food was good and plentiful, the service awful, not because of Dave who was as attentive as he could be but because they were completely understaffed on a Saturday.
Only second visiting Black Angus and the first time in Fresno. It was delicious and the carrot cake was moist and flavorful. We will be back soon!
Always pleased with the cuts off steak. Campfire for two is such a great deal. Dessert is amazing and I like that waitstaff is attentive and friendly.
One of the worst meals I have eaten this year....
Meat was tough
Potato was very small
Salad dressing was nothing but mayonnaise
The only bright spot was the server, Rebeccah....who was very professional and pleasant.
Taking Black Angus off my list!!!!!!
First off, they got my drinks wrong; second, they forgot the lobster; third, the actual lobster was massacred. Lastly, the prime rib was medium well not rare like I asked. What a nightmare.
Mother day,,,,is just bad overall... service is slow and food was cold and raw.
We were at Black Angus to enjoy Mother's Day and the lamb dinner we saw advertised.
We wondered if 6pm was going to be a good time and it was. The rush and hectic energy
was over, plenty of empty tables, and the noise level was low. Very enjoyable and delicious dinner and a very pleasant and personable waiter by the name of Eric. We liked his service and attention very much. We have friends who also enjoy B.A. and we plan to have dinner with them soon. We all love your Ceasar Salad.
We had poor experience on Mother’s day 5/13/18. We made reservations for 4 at 6pm and were seated at 6:30pm. Food took over an hour to be served. Our whole experience for simple dinner took 3hrs 30min. Food was cold and waitress said they were short in cooks etc... she was very overwhelmed. I also gave up my table for elderly couple as they were going to be seated at bar, totally not okay they should have sat them in regular table to begin with. I will think twice about going there again for a special occasion.
mothers day busy. first steak was almost burned, second was good, but wife had already finished her dinner. not the best experience we have had . Shaun, our server was great with helping with the whole thing.
Food and service was awlful . Food was raw and cold
It was Mother’s Day. Even so, the restaurant was not hugely busy. However, I think both the dining rooms and kitchen must have been understaffed because we waited well over 1 hour after ordering to get our food. The appetizers were cold, and the beef was over cooked. Even so, the food was “good,” and our server was attentive and charming.
Food was good....once we got it. It took over an hour from the time of order until we got our food, which was very disappointing. The manager did apologize for the kitchen getting backed up, but there weren't really that many people there at the time.
Our waitress was great however we waited an hour for our food! On Mother’s Day! Our whole section did not get their food for 45 minutes to an hour. Some people walked out. On Mother’s Day! Definitely disappointed.
I’ve been there a handful of times and not once have I had a bad experience until mother’s day I understand busy day but the food they brought us looked delicious until u bit into it cold cold cold and waited forever I expected delay but not for bad food to be brought out to us. Would I eat there again? Yes but never on a holiday or special occasion day just on a weekday and early so I don’t experience this again.
Way busier than normal but service and food very good.
Made reservations well in advance for Mother's Day. The waitress was snotty when I asked about the Mother's Day Special. However, that was the least of the problem. After nearly 2 hours, the waitress came passed and told us there were 4 tables ahead of us, then our food would be out--like this was a good thing. I asked to speak with the manager, who just shrugged his shoulders at me and said he'd heard it already. We walked out, and had to find someplace else to eat.
The service was great. The food was excellent. We will definitely come back again.
It seems the Chef was overwhelmed. My nephew’s hamburger and the steaks were charred on the outside. My other nephew’s steak was not “medium” as ordered but medium rare on the inside and charred on the outside. The prawns were delicious though.
Disappointed with our anniversary dinner.
I have been dining at Black Angus since I used to live in Los Angeles area in 1989. Always great service and great food. Appetizers are awesome! Recommend to try the sample platter appetizers.
While we frequently eat at this restaurant, I was disappointed on this occasion as i had ordered my steak medium charred. I received a steak which was rare and i believe it was rushed out due to the fact that a table of 20 guests were seated near our table so our server was trying to stay ahead. I sent the steak back and it was done more to my taste but for the prices charged this should not happen.
I will never go back to this restaurant. They ran out of almost everything we tried to order. They even went as far as to sneek us New York strip steaks when we had ordered ribeye steaks. We waited 1 hour just to get our salads and another half hour to get our meals. Overall worst birthday/ retirement dinner ever. Luckily they comped everything but drinks.
Always love black angus! Food, people, atmosphere is great for our monthly date.
My wife and I really enjoy this restaurant and come here at least once a month. Our visit this time was, I hope, an outlier. As the waiter delivered our drinks, he spilled a glass of wine on one of our friends. The waiter was very apologetic and obviously mortified at what happened. Our friend looked like he had the glass of wine thrown in his face and his shirt and dress shorts were soaked.
We sort of brushed it off as something that can happen. Where the issue came in was when the manager came over and told our friend to send him the dry cleaning bill. We were dressed casually and I can't imagine any one sending these types of casual clothes to a dry cleaner. Our friends received a full bill with no comp coupons or anything. Had I been the manager there would have been at least one free meal.
Having patronized Black Angus for the last 8 years, my wife and I were a little disappointed. While we will likely still go to Black Angus, we will be reluctant to invite new friends who aren't familiar with the establishment.
