Benihana - Salt Lake City Ratings and Reviews
The open table next to ours was so noisy with adults and kids screaming and talking very loud that our dining experience was the worst in years! Why in the world would Benihana's management allow such behavior? Two different couples who were seated at our table asked to be moved. If only our party would have done the same, perhaps we might of been able to have a conversation. My partner seated next to me was unable to converse with me!! We kept hoping they would leave, but they stayed on and on after all the dishes were removed. Again,
why would management not asked them to PLEASE keep the noise down? So, not only was the noise ridiculous but then we had to pay an enormous sum for our dinner. Benihana's has lost our future business and we will be sure to pass on our dining experience with everyone we know. But on the bright side, Benihana's will get to host the same or similar group of noisy, inconsiderate people again and again because they didn't ask them to quiet down. Gosh, they may have gotten their "feelings" hurt. Never mind our ridiculous expensive dining experience.
When they seated us ask for a bottle of wine he said what kind I ask for a sweet wine I wasn’t sure if I want to Chardonnay or any other kind of wine I just wanted a sweet wine and I depended on him to help me find it but he shrugged me off as if I was a burden after the chef came out and started making the food it was only me and my girlfriend but he decided to make a third plate I thought that they would give me the third plate after I was done But he went on to say that the chef needed to eat too but I didn’t understand that because I had pay for the full meal so it was like I was being taken advantage of if I paid for a full meal I expect to have a leftover stew when I leave then after the rude customer service he expected to tip and took out his percentage I told him I didn’t want to tip him Because of the rude service but I ended up leaving six dollars Ive eatin there before but I’ve never had a bad experience until this time
My wife and I have been to multiple Benihana locations across the country, and although our experience at the SLC location has not always been the absolute best, this past occasion was one of our favorites. The service, led by Maria, was spectacular. Maria was friendly and helpful. Also, our chef was the best we ever had. Steve was entertaining and humorous, but most of all, a talented chef. Our food was the most delicious we have ever had at Benihana. Will be back soon!
We celebrated my birthday and it was such a fun experience. This time it was just my husband and me. Last time we had 11 family members. Each visit was equally fun, entertaining and the food was delicious. I had scallops, shrimp and lobster this time. The lobster was cooked the best ever as were the scallops. Shrimp was pretty good as well. My husband had a big steak that was cooked exactly as he requested. The generous portions were enough to take half home for the next evening. Our server and chef were great. Chef did some tricks we hadn't seen before. The server even took our photo to mark the occasion and it is a pretty good photo.
Our service was great. Everyone was very helpful the food was really done to perfection. We will come again.Everyone was very helpful my husband is handicapped and they made sure he was well taken care of. They even let him use the elevator which was great. Thank you
I have been a customer of Benihana for 35+ years and have always a great experience except for this time. The overall atmosphere was disappointing. I live in Idaho and whenever I get to Salt Lake City, Benihana is the first place we always have dinner. My favorite being the Benihana Special. Other than a volcano our cook did not real show of talent. The food was not prepared as it has in the past leaving the food tasting bland. I had more enjoyment of watching other tables interact with their chef and watching the show they were getting. I raved to my friend the experience we would get and I totally disappointed her expectations as both our bills were nearly $50.00 each which normally would have been worth the price but I would had we gotten the experience I had become use to. I don't know if I can bring myself to return now as I don't want to pay a lot of money for something I'm not going to enjoy.
We made a reservation for 7:00 and weren't seated for 45 minutes. Others waiting there had been waiting for over an hour. Waiter was not very friendly, and the food was mediocre, which was a huge surprise. No flavor. We just may have had the (im)perfect storm? Very disappointing for how much money we spent $$$$.
We where surprised to get reservations as it was last minute and their was a huge convention in town. The food was great. We had a fairly new chef so a lot of the entertainment during the food preparation was so,so, but as always the food was good. A little pricey, but good. Will definitely go back. Wish they would do something for dessert other than just ice cream.
The food and the service was great. The bathrooms were decussating. Very disappointed. Called to talk to the manager but he didn't have time to talk to me because he was doing inventory. He did call me back. Not sure if this situation will change. Will go again but will check the bathrooms first. If they are as bad as they were the night we ate there we will leave.
The food is beyond delicious!! I had steak with my meal for the first time and it was so good and tender. I could have cut through it with a butter knife. The taste was so good. We love the entertainment that the chefs perform during the meal. Always visit when my husband is in town. You will enjoy the food and atmosphere!!
The food was good, the service was great, very very very hot in the restaurant! Great cook & service however, the meal says $?? Then you receive your bill; they give you a crap salad & soup that they don't tell you they are charging an extra $3 for ea, also give you chicken fried rice that they also charge you an extra $3.50 for, that they don't explain. So now we are an extra $9 in per person that you were not even aware of.
I've always loved Benihana! The Food never disappoints, and the cook provides entertainment and food fresh off the grill. Moderately priced, but worth it for the amount and quality of the food. Plus, $30 every year for your birthday. We go every August to celebrate.
Disappointing experience. Meal served one item at a time. If you want to eat warm food, you eat as it's served (who wants to eat a side of onions???). If you want to enjoy your rice, veggies and protein together, you eat it cold. Really hard not to compare this to Teppanyaki...where the experience is completely different. Won't be back. ☹️
If you can ask for James, he's the best server you can have!! These types of places are always so fun for big groups, and Benihana does not disappoint! We all had a great time celebrating our birthdays!! Great food, great ambiance, an all-around great time!!
