Benihana - New York Ratings and Reviews
We always love to eat at Benihana. The food is great. The chefs are polite and entertaining. Its fun to watch the reactions of the children to the "cha-cha train," " the beating heart of rice, and the other antics of the chef. The service is great and the whole dining experience is fun.
The experience was good as always. I just love it. The only thing is, that we had a reservation at 8pm and had to wait until 8:30pm to be seated. This is not a big deal. But for example in MIAMI, you can not make reservations and you know, that you may have to wait up to 1hour. but when I have a reservation i do expect, that the restaurnt meets the confirmed time for the reservation made.
My son asked if we could go for tepinyaki whilst on holiday, as he had enjoyed this style of dining before. We had a fantastic evening, good food, entertainment from the chef and a good time was had by all. So glad we prebooked also, as the restaurant was totally full when we arrived.
I really enjoyed taking my son, the service from the waiters were great !!! They were really on top of everything! The food was Really good even ate some things I've never ate before. I just wished the chief was a little friendlier ! Did not speak to use , did not crack a joke nothing . You expect a little bit of friendliness in these dinners. But everything else was super!
This restaurant location does not honor reservations at all! We arrived at 710 for a 715 reservation only to be told to wait at the bar for our table to be ready and then we were give one of those restaurant beepers. When I asked the host if our table would be ready on time (we had our young daughter with us) she pointed to a crowd at the bar whose reservations were much earlier than ours e.g. 645, 700 pm and that they would be seated first! Supposedly they could not predict how long each party would take to finish their meal? Why this restaurant accepts reservations is beyond comprehension! It's a shame when children love the place and we had intended to celebrate our daughter's grades. We ended up going to a neighborhood fave, JAMS by Jonathan Waxman. We will not return to Benihana!
*this review form forced me to give one star or else my review would not be submitted. I would NOT give this place any stars otherwise!
The overall experience was slow moving. Didn't make much of an effort to present a great show. Mediocre at its best. I've been to this type of restaurant before I'm punts Cana and it was spectacular. I was excited to bring my daughter to Benihana so she can experience what I did. But that was a failure.
The servant was so rude, she doesn't give options or answer with more information to our questions. She was rushing to get orders to the point they made us feel like rushed. Out of the branches I've been in London with significant experience. This New York branch is very poor and disappointing.
Relatives from Hawaii, Texas and a family of 5 who drove to New York from Canada. With them and my family in New York enjoyed the open table. thanks to the male staff who carefully and patiently served us, i salute him. With us was a 6 year old hyper boy, but the male staff dealed with him with a wide smile. This is my 4th time at Benihana New York and i will keep on coming back especially when friends and relatives come visit us in New York; food, needless to say, was awesome.. Mr Chef was a pro in that field. Thank you, Mr Chef...
Food is tasty. Have eaten here several times, I think chef must have been new from the order he prepared food. Ordered steak and chicken, the steak was put on grill after everyone received meal we thought he may have forgotten we ordered steak. Maybe it was because we went at lunch time, if so I prefer going for dinner. But I must say once again for was tasty
It was my boyfriends birthday and we had reservations for 9:15 we didn't get seated until 9:50 other than the long wait after making reservations the overall was great. They could've sat us next to some better company but hey the food and chef were awesome !
