This was the worst restaurant I have been to. We were seated with three children, one of which dropped a crayon on the grill which the parents did not pick up. The chef then retrieved the crayon when he finally arrived which was 20 minutes after we were seated. The crayon had already begun to melt. The chef cleaned it up byt did not use any cleaner. The chef also used the same knife to cut chicken, seafood and red meat using only his dirty towel between uses to wipe it off. I don't know how this place hasn't been shut down. Oh, and my clothes smelled horrible after leaving. Had to take a shower when I got home to get the smell out of my hair.
Our chef Jorge was awesome, he joked with our table the whole time.
Our waiter was horrible, he never came around for drink refills and in fact the only time he came around was to bring the check.
My only comment is the space seemed dated and it was dirty. The restrooms were a mess.
The chef was excellent and our server was very helpful. The atmosphere is loud so don’t plan on having in depth conversations.
Server never returned to the table. Everyone ran out of drinks. Will never go back
Celebrated my sons 25th birthday and Renaldo was amazing!!
Great food. Restaurant was a little dirty on the floor and crowded! Will go back but the place could use upgrade with chairs and floor
Had a date with my girlfriend and it was her second time at Benihana
love this place ! food is always great ! even tho the last time we were there our chef was new and we were his first table ever, he still did awesome!!!!!!!!
We arrived 35 minutes early. We waited about 15 minutes past our reservation time before being seated. Our waitress focused, mainly on certain guest at our grill. She brought me a drink in a glass that wasn't clean. She took her time bringing me another drink. We set a long time before a cook came to prepare our food. He (Matt) dropped his cooking fork, picked it up and kept cooking. I saw him pick it up off the floor. One of my friends arrived late. The waitress had only brought out drinks and salad. She refused to take my friend's order. But about 5 minutes later she changed her mind. I was going to walk out on this note. Since we waited so long for a cook, I didn't see a problem. I was told that this was a great place to dine. Our waitress left a sour taste in my mouth for your restaurant.
not equipped with enough staff to handle the customers... had a reservation and still waited 45 minutes with children...not the easiest.. not the waiter/chef's problem but should fall on management!
Great food....A MUST DO/GO
Had a reservation for 8, got seated about 8:45pm. Seem like the place was interested in get people in the door and not really help who is there. Place needed cleaning is over priced. May not go back.
Our server happened to be the manager and we were forgotten, the food was wonderful and the chef did an amazing job. They were very understaffed. We did not recieve the full experience and for the cost very disappointed
Informed Chef Taz it was my fiance birthday and that he has a mushroom allergy. I notated on the reservation comment section in regard to the mushroom allergy. My fiance requested Chef Taz to use different cooking utensils if other guest at the table were to get mushrooms. He used the same utensils after 5 other people requested mushrooms. Please inform your staff a food allergy can be deadly. Especially after seeing someone leave in an ambulance due to an allergy reaction. What a waste of $50 for food we could not eat during to this situation. Birthday dinner ruined. Chef Taz was never rude. He did read the request out loud about the mushroom allergy but he did not honor the request of using different cooking utensils.
Horrible service made reservations for 7 pm wasn’t seated until 815 and didn’t eat until 9 pm, after complaining several times we talked to the manager and he might have been the most incompetent manager I’ve ever met in the food industry and wouldn’t face us or come out in the dinning area the rest of the evening but gave us 10 percent off our bill . The food was good entertainment was so so definitely not worth the 2 1/2 hour experience! Will not be going back here and if you have plans after dinnner I would recommend going elsewhere. Also on the way out we over heard our waitress complaining about her tips at the table, very rude and disrespectful! Also you may wanna wear shorts and a tank top because it’s 120 degrees in there we were sweating while we ate!
Usually love Benihana but this visit was less than stellar. Had a reservation for 6:15pm to celebrate my wife's birthday. We didn't get seated until 6:55pm. There were quite a few people in the lobby complaining and then left because they were tired of waiting. Once at the table we sat and waited on a chef. The chef did not start the meal until 7:40pm. Ridiculous! The chef was nice and funny. The food tasted good but the next two days my wife was sick with terrible intestinal issues. Not much of a birthday celebration. I am not sure if we will be back which is a shame because we usually enjoy going there.
Typically we eat at a Benihana and have a wonderful experience. This visit, the service was horrible (specifically the wait time to be seated). We waited 35 minutes though we had a reservation and we’re on time. There were open spaces, but tables weren’t being bused. I had to ask about our wait time on four different occasion before we were finally seated.
Once seated, our soup, salad, and beverages were slow to arrive as well. Our cook, was enjoyable and accommodating.
Very confused and disappointed, service is usually much better.
We have been here before and enjoyed it. Our son picked going for his birthday dinner. Our server was not good. And the food didn’t seem as good this time.
Taz is the best chef. We request him every single time we go to Benihana.
It was a typical experience. It seems as if Benihana either needs to update the menu or serve the items that it says come with the meal you order. I look forward to the green tea at the end of the meal, which is supposed to be included, but I find myself having to pester the wait staff to get it. They don’t just offer it anymore. Other than that, the food was butter soaked and delicious as always. The chef was great, and interactive with us and the other guests.
The service was terrible! Got a refill on drinks for the table when we got our checks. It seemed like there was not enough help.
We were celebrating my oldest granddaughter's 33rd birthday and we've been to Benihana's for several of her birthdays. . . love the food, etc. and like getting the picture of our group. This year her children were five and three and they enjoyed seeing the fellow prepare our food. I like that the hot tea is included in the cost of our lunch
Great food! Great chef! I would recommend having reservations if you are going on the weekend.
Had reservations at 4:15 didn’t get seated until 4:50. Asked why the wait and was told they didn’t have enough servers so then why do they allow reservations at this time. Made no sense at all. Got seated finally waited about 20 minutes for drinks and then another 10 to 15 for our chef to come to the table. He was good and he entertained the kids At the table. Food was good but overall service was subpar. We were there for almost 2.5 hours. Way to long.
Our server was the "NEW GUY"! So, service was very slow! The Table Chef then had to make up time lost. Which made the culinary show not as entertaining. Four couples at the table, two younger couples were very upset about the service. Ourselves and other couple our age group had an "oh well" attitude. Then none of the four couples checks were right. Second time, 2 of the four were correct. Then when all the checks were correct, they gave us apology cards for free apps on our next visit. We have eaten at many Benihana around the U.S.! This was not the norm for any Benihana we have been to ever. It was truly, "THE NEW GUY SYNDROME"! We will be back to give you another shot!!
It’s was nice
It was my husband's birthday. I brought friends in from Arizona. We all loved It!
Always loved Benihana. Have been going for yrs and its went from high class to No class. The cooks are either boring or obnoxious. Its just sad because I have no desire to go back reguardless of the yum yum and las vegas roll 😔
Everything was great. Kinda expensive for the location.
Wait was too long if we made a reservation we should not have to wait 45 min to b seated 3 your long process
Wow. Haven’t dined here in a while...but surprised at how Benihana’s has declined since I used to be a regular here.
1. Too loud - Noise level was very high throughout our dinner.
2. Slow service - Had to cancel our tempura appetizers bc not ready before main course was beginning. Also took long time to get our check. Our table, with 2 parties at same table sat idle for a time waiting for the bill to pay.
Overall, decided this was last time to eat here and will try other hibachi places.
Service at the front door was horrible! They were running late on the schedule and their estimation was totally off. After waiting for 30 minutes passed our reservation time and asking realistically how much longer we needed to wait, the receptionist didn’t even respond to me. So we left and were somewhere else. Awful experience.
We waited for one hour PAST the reservation we had made over a week earlier so we left and went to an outstanding restaurant which seated us immediately and was great.
Took them 45 minutes to seat us despite our having made a reservation.
The whole night was a disaster. We waited 35 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. We waited another 30 minutes to get a glass of water. It took two hours to get through dinner and our waiter was less than attentive and the chef seemed stressed out and super tired. The food was mediocre and for the price that is totally unacceptable. We do not plan to go back anytime soon!
I had reservations at 7. When I arrived they told me they were running behind. We had to wait almost an hour to even be seated. Not good if you have children. I was meeting a friend there and she brought her daughter so she was anxious and hungry. We finally were seated. Our waiter had a hard time remembering our drinks and was very slow. He said that he was making all drinks and cocktails by himself, but the whole table (9 in total) has to wait about 20 minutes before we even got a drink. We were eating hibachi style and they had the grill on so our mouths were very dry from the heat. I almost drank my water before he even go the drinks around the table. We finally got a cook and he was the best part of the evening. I could tell he was probably fairly new, but he had high energy and kept the table entertained. I believe his name was Taz. He was the best part of the evening. Our waiter was so slow the whole night. But the cook saved the night. I’m not sure I would come back anytime soon. We didn’t get out of there until about 11:30.
Due to internal issues at this Benihana, I would not recommend going here for the next few months. They fired 97% of the staff so the service is terrible. There was zero Benihana fun. It took us 2 hours to get any food. A girl at our table actually passed out due to low sugar good thing there was a paramedic there eating. They pulled a sushi chef that did not even speak to us. He had to keep leaving to go get stuff. The manager explained 3 days before they fired 97% of staff due to a Ponzi scheme. She took 15% off our bill but with zero Benihana fun it was not worth the $115 we were still billed. We eat here 4-5 times a year but will not be back in 2018.
Horrible! Benihana has always been a personal favorite of mine. After this last experience, I will NEVER return to Indianapolis location!
