Benihana - Denver Ratings and Reviews
My family and I come here often and we love it. This time was not the same. We had a reservation at 6pm but wasn't seated until 6:45. We also had a party of 7 so thought we would get a table to ourselves. Another couple and their child squeezed in next to us. They were nice people but too cramped. I kept getting elbowed whenever taking a bite. The chef was pleasant but did not pay attention to detail. He did not ask how I wanted my steak cook. I prefer medium rare and it was well. He also mixed in mushrooms with my steak which I am allergic to. He also put a large portion of onions on my plate without asking and I am really not a fan of onions.
Overall not the best experience this time but the sushi was good.
Place was great as always. It was just the other group we had to sit with. The toddler was unruly and mom and grandma did nothing to get the child to calm down. Then there was the way they ordered, so picky, don't even know why they came to such a place to eat!
Made our lunch uncomfortable and wasn't able to enjoy the full experience like usual. We felt sorry for the cook, he seemed he couldn't do his entertaining part of the job because he was too busy burying their food in butter!
We had a nice evening celebrating my son heading off to college. We have made this a bit of a family tradition and it seems to never disappoint. The quality of food and drink are not considered to be creative but it is always consistent. We always enjoy our time at Benihana.
Great place to celebrate birthdays or other family events. We always have excellent service and the food is very good. The only downside is the wait - even with reservations, expect to wait a minimum of 15 minutes (with a reservation, our wait last Saturday night was 35 minutes).
I don't like making a reservation for a specific time and then waiting an additional 20-30 minutes to be seated and then an additional 20 minutes prior to getting a chef to cook and then get to eat. When your reservation is at 7:00 p.m. or 11:30 am, you want to eat - you are hungry and having to wait and wait to be seated gets everyone in a bad mood. Why have reservations, you should be able to start eating within 20 minutes of your reservation.
We have a tradition to go for birthdays since it's so expensive. Have been going for years. This time my brother found rubber band in his salad and all they could say was I'm sorry. Doesn't seem like good customer service especially for the price. Very disappointed.
We had food at the restaurant that was excellent all around and got take away that was much worse. They do go over the take out orders with you, but it is difficult to see if the chef forgot to season the food without tasting! The restaurant is definitely getting old and a bit shabby, especially if you are seated in the back.
It was a fun experience. Food was awesome and the chef was great. We went for a night out as adults without kids...i should have clarified that with my reservation...b/c of the way they seat the cook tops we had kids at the table. The energy in the restaurant was high and so was the noise level, which was fine except every 10 minutes the staff was singing happy birthday to a different table...it became a little obnoxious after the 3rd time. I would totally go back again, I just would select a later time and ask for a preference to be sat with other/only adults. The food and cooking entertainment were wonderful!!
I haven't been to Benihanas for over 10 years. It was even more fun than I remembered. My friend was having her birthday so my daughter and I took her out. She was really craving muscles so we chose Benihanas. The chef was excellent, seperating our meals (I am allergic to soy and gluten) on the grill. Everything was cooked to perfection, the muscles, salmon and fillet minion. What a fun way to celebrate a birthday. We will certainly be back, and soon, not 10 years!
We came for my nieces birthday.
Birthdays used to be a lot more fun there with a special dessert, a souvenir and pictures. I had to ask the waiter twice about the birthday and then they did a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and a candle. It was pathetic for the amount of money we paid and the great experiences he have had there before for many years.
The food and the chef were great.
Not sure if we would do this again.
Very mediocre. Poor service - had to ask for water multiple times & was charged for wine we didn't order. The chef was nice & entertaining, but the food lacked much flavor and was bland, even for so-called Japanese. Using zucchini in Japanese food is wrong.
The noise level was incredibly high, bordering on intolerable. Lastly, the place needs a renovation badly. It looks and feel OLD. Replace the dirty ceiling tiles. Put more sound blocking materials on the walls. Add some decor other than faded plaques about the guy who started the chain. Really - this is a pretty pricey place and it looks more like a Denny's!
So....we had a reservation for 745. We showed up at 7. Was told it would be 45 minutes. Well...of course we will wait because we had reservations at 745 anyway. Well....745 comes and we aren't sat. 8pm comes and we aren't sat. 815. Still not seated. 825 we get sat. This is the second time we have come here and they have an issue with reservations and seating. To their credit....it was Sunday evening and they're always busy. They also offered free sushi during our wait and apologized. Unfortunately I have to give this visit a low grade. Maybe next time
Chef Beto was great, except he used the same knife he cut the raw chicken with to cut everything else. He also didn't wash his hands after handling raw eggs. Additionally, our table of 8 (2 parties) had to wait over an hour past our reservation time to get a teppan chef..while several tables sat after us were almost through their meals. The rolling tray he brought out didn't have all the meals on it either. When brought to the management's attention, instead of taking accountability for the tardy start to our meal or trying to make it right they just told us they appreciated our patience and next time would make sure we received the service we deserved. Not a good way to handle it at all. Would not recommend this restaurant due to that.
It felt very much like we were being shoved in to an already full building. The noise level was so loud there was no way to carry a conversation. The food was only ok, and under seasoned. The table we were seated at was with a couple and 4 kids, the couple was being disrespectful the entire time (on their phone talking, cussing). We will not be back, this feels like the company is more concerned with getting as many people in to make the most profit at the expense of environment and customer experience.
