I went to Balzem for an evening out with family. All of the employees were extremely friendly, and the food was incredible. The servings were generous of incredibly delicious food. I also enjoyed my special cocktail!
The lamb was excellent!
Caught up with an old friend here and the setting was ideal: warm, friendly, easy-going/no stress. The service was warm and attentive and the food was fresh and delicious. We can't wait to go back!
The food is very flavorful, delicious, exquisite. There's a nice, cozy ambiance to the restaurant. The music is very good. We would definitely return and recommend to others.
Great but different Mediterranean dishes. Exceptional soups, salads and lamb. This is a great value for a quality meal in a cool and fun atmosphere.
Awsome, very nice vibe, fast courteous service, menu and specials explained up front, drink order taken immediately and the food was great! The pricing and value excellent. I will definitely go again!
Balzem is a great SoHo lunch place if you want something a little bit different but don't have an extremely adventurous palate. Reasonably priced for the area and excellent fool. My only complaint was the service; they seemed to be trying to do the entire restaurant and bar with one server, so things like water refills and getting a check took forever. Otherwise worth checking out.
Love the atmosphere. Great zucchini pancakes and reasonably priced HH wines ($7) by the glass.
Wonderful experience. The service is great and the food was super delicious. Definitely recommend!
Picked this restaurant just hours before going into the neighborhood for an event. What a pleasant experience. The tables are closely spaced but makes for a lively atmosphere and intimate dining. The chicken orzo soup was delicious! Wish I lived nearby because I would definitely be taking that home often. Followed by brochette of varying meats, favorite being the rib eye. Nice dipping sauces and warm flatbread to wrap it all up in.
The waiter was very attentive and when we told him we had a time constraint he took extra care in making sure we got out in time and had everything we needed.
Such a nice spot. We left completely satisfied.
Great food and service! I recommend the artichoke dip and phyllo rolls.
It was good
What a wonderful place. Gets super crowded and the tables are tiny, but you can overlook that after a few appies, a glass of wine and some conversation.
We were asked to leave after 1.5 hours because they had another reservation for the table. Really tacky.
Delicious menu. Something for everyone. One of my favorite go-to spots in Nolita. I come once per month!
Food was pretty good - However I don’t think it was worth the amount paid for.
The experience was sub par:
1. We had 3-4 different waiters - several times each would ask the same question as the one before making it quite annoying.
2. Took a while for us to get our food and when we did, our main course was brought out before our appetizers
3. The door takes a while to shut and it was freezing with all the cold air blowing in.
The atmosphere was pretty cool - good music and nice vibes.
Probably wouldn’t go back - thought it was too expensive for the value.
Loved our server!
Excellent service and great meal in a fun atmosphere
Maybe it was because it was New Year's Eve but my experience crossed it off my list of restaurants to return to :/
Food was amazing! A bit pricy but the food, service and atmosphere make up for it.
This is the place to come when you’re craving Itlain cuisine that’s not a carb explosion. Serving staff is friendly, welcoming, and attentive. I loved the meat ball dish.
We had a group of 6 people for dinner. The appetizers were amazing - hummous and artichoke dip! The Lamb dishes were excellent and my daughter said her burger was the best she'd ever had.
Moderately priced tapas and decent happy hour (limited to certain wines and apps) The food was good except the Creme Brulee (terrible) Our waitress and service was wonderful!
Awesome place, great food, perfect service
Loved the octopus and the tiramisu
The food was not great and was way overpriced. Poor service. Awkward seating. Would not recommend this place.
Balzem is truly a neiborhood gem with a cozy ambiance and authentic and delicious Mediterranean fare! The staff was incredibly warm, and my friend and I comfortably lingered over brunch without any pressure. One of my favorites!
The chicken liver mousse and fried chicken starters were amazing! We also did the fried deviled eggs - compared to the other starters, this was less exciting and I would skip next time. We all did the Pig Out for our main. The spicy peanut noodles...so good. We also did broccoli and potatoes for sides. The broccoli was possibly the best I've ever had. The potatoes were also delish, but that broccoli.
This was our 4th visit within the past 6 months and we had another great meal at Balzem in a warm, inviting ambiance. Loved the octopus , branzini ceviche and seared tuna appetizers and the lamb and chicken grilled brochette main courses were also excellent. The Happy Hour drink specials extend to 7 PM. Friendly competent service.
Took my boyfriend there to celebrate his birthday because it had great yelp reviews. I had the termanillo(sp?) wine and it was really dry and hard to take down. The prosciutto wraps were alright. Nothing too special and really salty. We had the brochette to share which I thought was a little dry but my boyfriend enjoyed. The best part of the meal for me was the potato truffle gratin although by the end of it, it seemed like I was eating truffle oil straight out of the bottle. Overall, the meal was meh. The service was great though and the atmosphere had a pub-like feel.
Amazing little spot with delicious food, great for sharing and wine
Loved the restaurant staff couldn’t be nicer. Very pretty, small but intimate. Food very good. Not onecomplaint
I loved the ambience of the place, but my friend got sick after eating the food. I feel very bad :(
The experience was definitely interesting. At first we were told to sit at the bar, but we had made a reservation and after clarifying that a couple times we got seated at a table. MAKE A RESERVATION. There were a few parties ahead of us that got turned away because they were booked for the night.
The restaurant is small, so get ready to cozy up to your neighbors, however, it is New York, so that's expected. After we were seating, our waiter came over and took drink orders, which came out pretty quick, but our food didn't come out for hour after ordering and we had to push back our plans for after dinner. They gave one of our appetizers to another table (it was an accident, but the table started eating it before we could have it brought back to our table). Once we did get our food, it made up for everything. The truffle mac-n-cheese is really good, but let it sit for a few minutes to let the cheese thicken up a bit, and the artichoke dip is beyond wonderful. The lamb chops weren't for me, but my boyfriend ate them within seconds, and the potato au gratin was amazing. The shrimp casserole was a little too liquidy but definitely satisfying.
Overall it was a good visit.
Great spot for a date. Absolutely enjoyed my time there. Will be going back!
Great atmosphere and good food. Service wasn't great.
The service was good and the truffle flatbread was very good. Remainder of the several apps we ordered were mediocre at best.
The food was good, not great. Overall experience was good. Waitress was pleasant but seemed inexperienced. Inside temperature was very cold and apparently we were the only ones not happy.
loved the cute atmosphere and food. Service was really nice - a bit hit or miss, but fine. Food and wine were great. WOuld totally recommend
Friendly service, eccletic menu, good value, pub by ambience, a little tight on seating and a little noisy. Good location. Would recommend
Excellent service! Prices were very good!
The meAt balls were amazing. And the mushroom truffle oil flat bread is a must! Do not sit there, and not get it!!
We enjoyed the seared tuna and the baba gnouch as well!!
