We went to Lucy Ho's for a bureau birthday lunch. It was pretty good. It was my first time going. They have a lot of options for sushi rolls. I like raw sushi and their salmon was great. They have a lot of cooked options as well, including cooked sushi rolls, for people who don't prefer raw food. I look forward to going there again.
When I walked in I was a bit shocked by the appearance. It does not look as fancy as it is on the website...actually not even close. However, the services was exceptional and they were so accommodating. The food was great.
We don't get to this restaurant much since we live in Tampa. However, if we are in Tallahassee it is a must go spot.
We go there often. My daughter loves the sushi; granddaughter loves the edamame and the kids meal; mom likes the portions (always some to take home!). The food is consistent and very good. It can get a little loud, but have been there many times with a group of women and we’ve had no problem enjoying conversation. Service was prompt and not overbearing.
Azu is one of my favorite places to eat in Tallahassee - it is always my got o spot when I want to go out!
The server ("Briya," I think) was grumpy and not helpful to my daughter at all about vegetarian dishes, but after I spoke to Manager Wayne, she improved. If I eat there again, I will request a different server, because she just didn't show the gracious hospitality Lucy Ho's restaurants are known for.
The salmon I ordered as "rare" came to me as "medium" or "medium rare" but I decided it tasted good enough that I didn't want to complain about it.
We were celebrating my daughter's 18th birthday, and this was one of our favorite restaurants. Wayne's attentiveness was superb and the food was as delicious as always. Overall, we had a terrific evening!
Thanks for soliciting our feedback.
Dim Sum on Saturdays is awesome. Chloe is the very best server. Professional, cheerful and attentive. Azu is our favorite sushi in Tallahassee!
Very disappointing. The salt and pepper soft shell crab tasted like over salted frozen pieces of meat. I couldn’t finish it. My wife had sweet and sour pork that was flooded in sweet sauce. She only ate a couple bites. Ambience was bad. Most patrons appeared to come straight from doing yard work with dirty jeans or shorts and unkempt t-shirts. Very unappealing.
I am usually not picky, but this was a bad experience. The only bright spot was our waitress who did well. Sorry to say, we won’t be back.
Great place to share a good meal with friends. The service was outstanding, the food great and the price was reasonable.
I think the best thing we can say is that with all the places to eat in Tallahassee we will definitely be back to eat here. Food was plentiful and very delicious.
Our server was new and they disnt give her the support she needed. She was apologetic. Azu was one of my favorite spots when I lived in Tallahassee. I took my DC foodie friend. I wish she could have had the experience I described.
We are regulars of Azu. The hosts and servers are consistently friendly, knowledgeable about menu and timely with drinks and food delivery. We usually have sushi and split an entree.
A group of four senior women got together there for dinner. The food was excellent, except for one dinner that had to be returned because it wasn't made properly. The situation was corrected immediately. We were all very happy.
Despite the screwed up reservations by Open Table who switched our 6PM reservation to 3PM and nearly cost us entry into one of the finest Asian restaurants we've been to in many a year, we survived. Manager/owner Wayne took care of all that and ushered us to our table and smoothed everything over. He didn't have to do much as his restaurant's food did all the speaking and smoothing. I tried the grilled whole squid appetizer and I have to tell you that you would have to go abroad to get anything that good. Kung Pao Chicken, my wife's favorite was perfectly spiced with peanuts added over the serving. Pork fried rice (am I being a bit pedestrian?) was the perfect comfort food. But the Taiwanese noodles and seafood took top honors, a bit like Singapore noodles but without the curry. If you ever go to Tallahassee and are in the mood for Chinese, Azu Lucy Ho's is the place to go. Too bad they don't have Pad Thai and they shun peanuts in the mistaken thinking that a lot of people are allergic. People can choose not to eat the peanut dishes, you know? All in all a 5-star performance.
Scallion pancakes were greasy and light on scallion flavor compared to authentic ones; served with a delicious Spice Coconut Curry Sauce that overtook the pancake flavor. Salt & Pepper soft shell crab signature dish had a heavy fish flavor (would not order again), fortunately the waitress switched to out for me to the Salt & Pepper Jumbo Shrimp which was much better and had good flavor, if a little salty (would order again). Taiwanese Style Rice Noodle was very light in flavor/sauce and was a nice dish (would order again0. Crispy Jumbo Scallops were so spicy that you couldn't taste the scallops (would not order again). Our waitress recommended the options we liked. I would return.
We had a lunch reservation for 11:30, arrived at about 11:45, but didn't receive our food until about 12:40. We had to rush as much of our lunch as we could eat in 10 minutes and race back to work. I can't imagine the service is this slow all the time (or they wouldn't be in business).
However, our particular lunch experience was very disappointing.
The food was outstanding and the service was great!! We love this place.
Red Dragon and Ichiban rolls are OUTSTANDING!
We have chosen Azu for New Years Eve for the past few years. The food is outstanding and plentiful. Our server, Hope, was attentive without being intrusive.
The best, freshest sushi around!
Great office lunch!
Excellent sushi and other Asian dishes. Will definitely go again.
Best egg drop soup (IMO) manager was visible attending to every table, staff was friendly and prompt.
Consistently great food and service! They also have a wide variety of choices on the menu.
Outstanding Chinese restaurant! Service was attentive, each dish was flavorful. We will absolutely visit again when we are in Tallahassee.
This was the first time I had been to Lucy Ho's and I was very impressed. We have a take-out Chinese restaurant near our house but wanted something more so we went here. We both got soup and my Egg Drop was very good. I also got the spring roll and loved it. I wanted to get the mango beef tenderloin but they were out of it so I got the sweet and sour chicken instead. It was very good also. However, be forewarned, the portion sizes are huge. Both of us took home enough food for another meal. We asked the server if we could split the entrée next time and she said we could so hopefully we will remember to do so. I would recommend Lucy Ho's to anyone wanting a really good Chinese restaurant.
We made our reservation for a party of 10 at 7:30 on a Saturday night. When we arrived at the restaurant, they told us that they purposefully overbooked because people don't tend to show up and we therefore had to wait for our table. We waited for almost an hour. Not sure what the point of taking reservations if the restaurant isn't going to honor them. They also claimed that they sometimes do not get the OpenTable reservations - but they clearly had ours - as our name was already on the "list" when we arrived. It's too bad because the food was good - but we ended up being there until the restaurant closed because we were seated so late. Very disappointing.
Excellent food. Open Table great because people lined up outside Restaurant. Large portions. Fresh food. Regular soy sauce overly salty so they offer “low sodium”.
We were visiting our kids for parents weekend and went to Azu with a large group. We had a reservation and was seated within 10 minutes of arriving. The service was great and the food was even better. Everyone in the party said how much they enjoyed their dinner. We will definitely be going back.
Found this place on Open table 4 days before arriving in Tallahassee. It had good reviews on Open table and Yelp so we made reservation. Very good chinese food and sushi. Would definitely go back again when in the area.
We went for the second year in a row during parent’s weekend at FSU. Last year, my whole family went (4 kids, 18, 15, 15, 9) and we loved it. So we came back this year with my college student and my in laws. Even though they were really crowded, we were seated right on time. Our waitress was adorable and gave us great recommendations. The food was delicious and the ambiance is very nice, although we would have liked it a little more dimly lit on a Saturday night. The food was not expensive. Considering we had drinks, appetizers, soup and entrees, we were pleasantly surprised with our bill. It’s a little off the beaten path from the college, but well worth the trip! I’m sure we’ll be coming back again next year!!
Waited about an hour for entree to be delivered after ordering (nothing special or complicated). Waitress apologized several times, and just said kitchen was backed up, but we observed other nearby parties who arrived after us received their main courses well before us. No offer to comp appetizer or drinks or anything...it was a really long wait.
Always a fabulous meal, wonderful, fresh sushi, love the option for cooked dishes and it is the best Crab Rangoon I have ever had!!
Authentic asian food. Excellent quality and good prices.
Just loved it and will definately go back when in town!
Great food that is reasonably priced. Love the Spicy Szechuan Beef! Whenever I am in Tallahassee, I make sure I get my Asian food fix at Azu Lucy Ho’s!
One of the best Chinese/Japanese restaurants I have ever been.
Ricardo was our waiter. He had a wonderful personality and gave very prompt and courteous service especially considering we had 10 in our party. He had another big table right beside us.
The Shanghai wonton soup was the best wonton soup I have ever had!
We have come frequently to this restaurant because of the attention to the food and attentiveness of the staff. We had a business dinner that we had reserved a large table for, and had to get it moved to a quieter area to hear each other. Unfortunately the wait staff was almost absent after that, and we had to send one of our party out to flag down a waitress. Everything was slow, the waitress had obviously not been trained, and little things like tasting the wine before pouring to all of the people at the table was overlooked. Luckily the food was good as always.
Consistently good food. Service was prompt but not rushed. Vegetarians among us were satisfied too. When it is packed, the noise level gets a little high, but otherwise easy to talk to your tablemates. I am a repeat diner and recommend to out of town guests.
