Angus Club Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Our family dined at Angus on Christmas Day. Some ordered from the main menu, others from the Christmas menu. It was our favorite meal ever! The food quality and taste was better than Morton’s, Ruth’s Chris, Fleming’s, or the Palm. It is our new favorite! Too bad there is not one in Nashville.
From the minute you walk in everyone was so friendly. The place is beautifully decorated. All our apps were delicious. Baked clams were delicious. The lump crab was outstanding. The porterhouse melted in your mouth and all the sides we ordered were great. I feel you can always tell when a restaurant is run by the owners. Great place!
The food was very good. We were disappointed with the service. Felt very rushed. Had to motion to get server to table. Once a large party came in, our service went down hill. The sever even rushed to take the signed bill while we were still dining. Only one main server for all tables. Very expensive and expected more.
The Angus is well appointed, in a good location and the food was first rate. The problem is with the head waiter. We were early and the place was almost empty but the waiter rushed us like he needed our table. He was pushy about everything. For example, I ordered Bombay gin which he didn’t have and he said- i’ll Serve Beefeaters which is better. The wine list had some nice wines in half bottles-but they were all gone he said. “Try this” he said as he poured a bit of red wine- “ fine” I said and he poured 2 glasses and announced “ those are $25 per glass”. He hung over the table like a vulture. Just a bad experience for no reason. The guy must be an owner otherwise he’d be fired.
We had dinner on Wednesday night. The place was nice and quiet. For appetizer we had shrimp cocktail and Caesar salad. Both dishes were very good. For the main course we had filet mignon and it was absolutely amazing!! I will not order angus fries next time I come. It was too fried for my taste but overall it was delicious dinner!!
I took my family to Angus during NYC Restaurant Week. Everyone loved it. The food was excellent: calamari, sirloin, filet mignon and the chocolate mousse cake is worth the calories. The ambiance is perfect for most occasions - birthdays, dates, anniversaries. It has a modern decor, the tables are well spaced out so you don't feel crowded yet it still feels cozy. The service was very good as well. We were so full from our appetizers and main course that we had to take our desserts home. We all agreed we would definitely return.
I brought my friend Maya for restaurant week as she's never been. The portion size of the food and our waiter Jack was exceptional. I also appreciated that our table was by the window even though the seating was for 4 people. We even had the opportunity to meet the owner and the chef. I look forward to dining at Angus in the future
Had NYC Restaurant week menu
Had sirloin steak
Clearly lower quality than their regular menu
Bit gristly and not tender (had it medium rare)
Wine took forever to arrive (after appetizers were delivered)
Seemed as if they lost interest in us once they realized that we were going for the restaurant week menu (which we asked for)
We went for restaurant week. We are steak lovers, and view restaurant week as a chance to try new steakhouses without breaking the bank.(although with a bottle of wine, tax and tip it is still a hefty price) Service was excellent. Gaby, was solicitous and very pleasant. When we mentioned one steakhouse we frequent, he indicated that there was no comparison- Angus was far superior. Unfortunately we did not think that. The fried calamari were good. I personally thought they could have been crisper. The sauce was excellent. The steak, a 14 oz sirloin, the same size and cut we get at one of our favorites, could not compare. While it was good- it was not excellent. It was salty, and not as tender as it could have been. We have had considerably better. The portion of mashed potatoes was skimpy. Desert, the chocolate mousse cake, was excellent. Overall, while a decent meal for restaurant week, I would not have been happy to have ordered that steak at the menu prices. As a prix fix dinner in Manhattan it was fine.
I go to Angus Club expecting to have great steak or lamb chops and I am never disappointed. The food is very good. My husband likes the salmon and sea bass. The room is nicely set up with space between tables as well.
The only nit I have is that sometimes it gets very loud because they occasionally have large tables there.
Expensive but worth it.
Have dined here on 3 other occasions for dinner. Never had a complaint, the food was good. stopped in for lunch and had the prix fix menu at 39.95. Ordered rib eye ... big mistake ...complete garbage...it was 85% grizzle and fat hardly no meat...supermarkets have better quality meat... told the waiter... offered no apology or alternative...place was empty except for 4 other diners...seems they aren't doing too good if they serve this garbage ....they lost about 8 other customers from my family because of this experience...
