Amsterdam Cafe Ratings and Reviews
The food was good and the atmosphere very inviting. Very good wine Boen pinot noir!!! We will come back for sure. We were visiting our son who goes to Auburn. We will tell all our Savannah friends to be sure and treat themselves to a dinner at the Amsterdam cafe!!
I told the waiter how much I had enjoyed the food there when I visited a year ago. He explained that the chef they had then had left for an opportunity in California and that there was “honestly nothing” on the menu that would be as good as what I had there before. The food was pretty good, actually, though he may have been right.
We wanted to be seated in the back room because it has a better environment (and we don’t really like high top tables in the front or the choppy layout) but there were two large groups who were very loud, laughing and talking across their large tables. We could barely hear each other. We really like Amsterdam and have eaten there before, but I would like to see a little more variety on the menu.
We really enjoy coming over to this restaurant. Our server was great. For starters, my wife had the salmon topped salad which was enough for a meal by itself and absolutely delicious! I had the Yum Yum shrimp which was very tasty but could have used a little more "pop" to make it a little more flavorful. For our entree's, I had the pork chop with the fries and it was perfectly cooked and not dry at all and delicious. My wife had the grouper which quite frankly, was not good. It smelled very fishy just did not taste good. She even contemplated sending it back but decided to take it home for leftovers. That was a mistake on our part. We've eaten there many times and this is the only time I felt they didn't quite hit the mark on the food. We were there for our anniversary and it was a bit noisey and more casual than I remember from our previous visits. We will definitely be back but maybe just for a change of pace from our usual restaurants locally, not for a special occasion. Overall, a very nice restaurant with good service but just a little off on the grouper dish the night we were there.
I went on my anniversary and asked for a low top table when I made the reservation on Open Table. We got there and they didn't have a low table only a high top table right on the way to the kitchen. Amsterdam told me there was no table specified, but I certainly tried to specify when I made my reservations. Soup was room temperature, but had a real good flavor. The veal was good not great. Probably won't be going back. I tried to make our anniversary dinner special but was let down by Amsterdam. I was disappointed to say the least.
Pimento Cheese Appetizer Board was more than enough for the five at our table to share and delicious. Crab Cake and Avocado sandwich was good, but disappointed that it was NOT served on a croissant as stated in the menu. Good service and food, but the booth for five diners as quite cramped.
Amsterdam Cafe is always a safe bet in Auburn. We love the food and the fact that they take reservations. While I know that the items on the menu are rotated to keep things "new," people in my party missed 1)the duck and 2)the chicken sandwich with pepper jack. However, they did find suitable substitutes. Overall, Amsterdam Cafe is a great restaurant that offers fresh food at a reasonable price.
One of those places that you can’t judge from the street. Being Dutch I am biased by the name of this place. The logo of The this place is inspired by Heineken, but that’s about all the Dutch you get. ( and that’s fine).
We were in town for a swim meet and 12-16 year old girls want protein !! Every variation of steak was ordered and they were all absolutely GREAT! Combine that with some good desserts and now you have the stomach and the heart happy!
We had a birthday dinner this past Sunday evening for our 16-yr-old daughter at Amsterdam Cafe. The food, service, and atmosphere were top notch. The prices are very reasonable, and since we had a larger party, the management was willing to print up an attractive limited menu. Our server was the best! I would definitely recommend!
Went out to dinner with my girlfriend and her parents. We had a great time, but admittedly, felt that the waiter we had was either new or perhaps a little awkward; we weren’t offered a dessert menu and we felt rushed at times, which is why I gave 3 stars instead of 4. Altogether would definitely recommend. The food was great, didn’t take long from order to table and the drinks were also good.
What an enchanting dining experience after my son’s December graduation. The food was to die for and the service impeccable! We had a reservation and our table was set and waiting for us. I would recommend this restaurant to other families who want to spend a delightful meal together celebrating a special occasion.
Amsterdam did an excellent job with our party of 10. Wonderful individual attention to each guest and to the entire group. Drinks were served quickly and the food was delivered to the table almost all at once. All the guests were very happy with their meals. Thanks for making our small wedding reception memorable.
