After five years in business, ABC Kitchen is still pretty. But after a recent change in chef, the food is just pretty good.
Great food. Great service. Overall great!!
Beautiful place but the food was not very good.Too spicy and not very comforting
Lovely experience, delicious food, would come back again next time we are in town!
Food; Excellent. Atmosphere; Excellent. Service; Not Excellent. Waiter was disinterested and had an attitude the entire meal. Asked some questions about entrees and he seemed put off. The food is obviously prepared with great passion and that should carry through to the customer service. Also forgot coffee and seemed to rush us out with check. We were a two top with a 5:30 reservation. there were plenty of other two tops available at the time we had dessert. Not sure of his issue. I write it off to a bad day. He then remembered, then came back and said it would be comped because he said I looked upset. I was not upset, just expected better. When desert is served, I like my coffee at the same time. Then he forgot it again; left the cup in a rush, with the coffee on his tray but never poured it. Had to ask a bus staff to do it later.. WB needs to reflect the passion and quality of the food.
Overrated, too expensive for what it is. Eggs benedicts were dry and very very ordinary. Don't go there!
The service was basically nonexistent. It took over 20 mins for our server (Ben P is what our check said his name was) to come by and take our drinks and food order after we were seated. He never came by during the meal and it took a lot of effort to get his attention to order another round of drinks. He was rushing around attending every table around us it seemed like but ours. By the end of the meal when we had to ask for our check after sitting at our cleared table for a significant amount of time without him coming by, I had to tap him to ask for the check as he was walking by and was then given attitude. He literally tossed the plate with the bill on our table when he returned with it and stormed off. Not sure why he was having attitude with us after he gave us no service all meal and yet was busy going around to every other table around us. The food was ok compared to what it used to be, not sure if the standards are slipping or the kitchen has adjusted it to appeal to the more mass audience tastebuds. We are Saturday regulars at ABCV and decided to go to ABC Kitchen for old times sake but was sadly disappointed that it does not have the same exceptional standards in food and service that ABCV as well as ABC Cocina has. We will unfortunately not be going back to Kitchen again and stick with the other two ABC restaurants going forward
Best restaurant experience we had during our weekend in New York! Hands down, the chicken liver toast was where it was add!!! Rich, garlicly and lemony goodness! The crab toast and roasted carrots Salad we're also great (they we're both recommendations from the server) The Eggs Benedict was super standard with nothing exciting to note.
Fab lunch - anniversary special date. Weekend treat in Manhattan.
Great hidden gem in gramercy! Loved the food and dessert, prices are decent and ambiance is brilliant. When we went the service was a BIT slow and unresponsive I'd kindly request that to be improved on. Other than that this place is great for dinner, groups, date and dessert/tea (which is what we went for)
Overall slightly disappointing. One of our two apps we ordered never arrived and it was one we were really looking forward to. Our mains were ok. I ordered the spinach pizza though and it was very very salty.
We ordered two desserts at the end as the descriptions sounded delicious and then they brought them to us and one of them was the wrong item. We asked and they switched it for us. However, both desserts were just okay.
It was a birthday dinner for someone so I was slightly dissappointed that I had took them there... it just didn’t live up to the hype. And for $160 for two people the experience and food was just okay in my opinion. Really bummed because I wanted it to be good!!
i have to say I was disappointed in our lunch.. the restaurant was another level of noisy. almost impossible to talk.. didn't love the menu... very limited... ordered the prix fixe lunch.. didn't like the soup.. the only flavor I tasted was mint..the rest was ok.. not what I expected for such a highly rated place..
Our fourth trip in and it did not disappoint. Will be back
Food, service and atmosphere were outstanding. It was a bit loud. Fine for most people. Older adults may have trouble hearing each other if they are in a large party.
Love the mushroom pizza a jean George staple
Lunch was great!!
Wonderful. Awesome. A tad noisy but worth it.
Fabulous, as always! The spring pea soup with carrots and mint was superb! Never disappoints* Wait staff is terrific, too.
Very loud at peak hours; difficult to have a conversation. But food was excellent, as was service.
Great Anniversary dessert treat surprise!
Food and service was impeccable. Have been there twice in visits fro Washungton State. We ll fo there every visit!.
What a let down. Total tourist trap. Food is old technology and not even that interesting. So many better places to go in the city. So sad! The Frenchman let it go down the toilet just like he did to mercer kitchen which led to a critic calling it the Applebee’s of soho...hence this is the Applebee’s of union square.
Excellent food and service every time! I love the crab toast as a starter and ending with the carmel ice cream, chocolate and popcorn sundae!!
Superb service. Great ambience. Excellent food! Will definitely go back again and again!
Great atmosphere, friendly service and very tasty food. the sort of restaurant only found in New York
Great healthly interesting food at high but not outrages prices.
We had an amazing anniversary celebration at ABC Kitchen. Our friends had called ahead and ABC facilitated a champagne toast to kick off our eve. Every dish was perfect and we basked in the soft light and romantic ambiance. Thank you for making this an incredible date to remember
Of our recent trip to NYC, this was by far the best dining experience. Not only was the food fantastic, but the service was top-notch friendly (from bartender, to server, to even the bread-runner). Tip: Ask your server for his/her recommendations of what's best that evening. If we hadn't, we wouldn't have tried the Ramp & Goat Cheese Toast -- and it was amazingly delicious. Loved the Spring Pea Soup and the Duck Confit was to die for.
Our only complaint is the extremely poor lighting. "Mood lighting" is too dark when you have to hold the candle up to the menu. Not only that, but the dim lighting interferes with the enjoyment of your food when you can't see its components ("what is that, a potato?") or how well the kitchen plated the dish. That's the only reason I gave 2 stars for Ambiance. Bring up the lighting a little bit, please, and your restaurant would be perfect.
This place is always amazing. It's a little pricy, so we save it for special occasions, but the food is incredible. The menu is seasonal, although some of the items seem to be pretty perennial. The design is beautiful as well. Highly recommended.
Always a great experience! Excellent sevice and delicious, fresh food.
After a slow start, no water or menus for way too long after we were showed our table at 2:30 on a Saturday. Our server made up for this in the end and was attentive. Eggs and ice cream sundae were wonderful --but the kale salad with shrimp was terrible.
This place is gorgeous and they have quality food for the most part but nothing amazing. Everything we had was just not perfect, could use maybe 1 more ingredient. Just didn’t hit the spot. But very pretty place and great wait staff
We waited about 10 minutes for our table. It was very busy lunch crowd, but super loud. We asked to be seated in the outer bar area because of the noise, which was accommodated. Service , food and wine was really great. Great ambiance.
ABC Kitchen is a go-to when trying to impress out of town friends with a great vibey scene paired with delicious food and cocktails. I find their service to be impeccable and their crowd to always be beautiful and very NYC-chic. Will continue to come back!
I've been to ABC Kitchen many times on different occasions. It's always consistent- good food, good service, good atmosphere. It has stayed the course and lasted in a competitive NYC restaurant environment. It has lost it's superior rating to me. It took awhile to get our cocktails. We ordered a bottle of wine for table after cocktails. One of our party finished her wine and the waiter took her wine glass away. When I questioned it, he said the bottle was empty. You would think he would have at least asked if we wanted another bottle for the table. Our meal was good- in keeping with my expectations. We all had fish. Dessert was not good. So dissappointing given a restaurant of this caliber and the pricing. It's "jumped the shark"!
Three friends on a trip to New York and lunch at abc kitchen. Amazing restaurant!!!! Food, service and ambiance. Was such a good experience!!
Nice restaurant, excellent food, large dining area with a lot of space even though it was full. Nice ambiance and deco.
