247 Craven Ratings and Reviews
Our experience was great. I mentioned in our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and they provided a special surprise to help us celebrate. The menu offered a nice variety of dishes large, small, and appetizers. I had a tough time deciding between the duck and lamb. I wasn't disappointed with the lamb. I may have to come back to try the duck. It is a small dining area, but very busy. Our waiter was fantastic. Would highly recommend.
The food was amazing. The only thing keeping it from being a five star experience was lack of service—not from our server. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation. Another couple came in a few minutes later with also a reservation at the same time. They were sat first at a better table and served first. Then my husbands cocktail was served first with apologies for taking so long to get to him. Mine was brought out several minutes label with a here you go. Didn’t feel like a valued customer at all and I was the one paying. It’s a shame because the food was delicious.
Small intimate restaurant with wonderful, thoughtful food and beverage menus. We love this place and make sure to visit every time we're in New Bern. Every bite has been delicious. We started with the duck confit penne which was amazing and then had a shroom panini, also delicious. My husband had the pimento cheese and bacon panini and couldn't have been happier with his meal. 247 Craven is such a charming spot, don't miss it!
Great food and service. However, they dont have a bartender, the waiters make the drinks which comes to the discrepancy I have with the restaurant. I ordered a whiskey sour (thinking that they would make it from scratch with egg whites, simple syrup and lemons) and they served it with cheap shelf sour mix from a plastic bottle. From a place that offers “fancy cocktails” this is unacceptable.
Food was absolutely delicious. The "small plates" were plentiful and filling . The relishes added such depth and complexity of flavor. We had a party of 8 women celebrating my mom's birthday, and everyone was very impressed. We ended by sharing a tasting sampler of desserts. Super scrumptious!
Service was also excellent. We will definitely be back!
We had occasion to be in New Bern on the tail end of a week's vacation in Savannah. Found 247 Craven on Open Table on the drive up and made a reservation. So glad we did! The food was excellent as was the wine and service. We were tired from a long drive and noticed they offer a Chef's Tasting. Perfect! No further decisions to make! This ended up being the best dinner of our entire vacation!!
Once again, 247 Craven was a hit. Outstanding personalized service, an eclectic wine list, and inventive cuisine combine to make this one of the best restaurants in New Bern. We'll always go back to 247. The only (slight ) drawback is the high noise level if it's full, which is most of the time.
I chose this restaurant for a birthday celebration with my date. It is a small restaurant with an upscale food menu. I did like the atmosphere. The waitress was exceptional! My date ordered what he thought was ham which was actually a pizza. Very little shaved pieces of something on the bread and sauce but he said was good. I ordered the pork chop with vegetables. Very little vegetables but WOW what a pork chop! It was huge but it was delicious! I had a glass of wine and we split a piece of carrot cake for dessert which was awesome. It was different than what we are used to but overall a very pleasant experience.
For New Bern, NC, the dinner menu is a bit "out there"...ingredients and dishes that required explanation by the wait person. The food itself was very good and portions were ample. But, the noise level at dinner was almost overpowering...we almost left simply because we could hear the person across the table.
We've been there for Sunday brunch before and it was fantastic...great, recognizable dishes and a much less noisy.
Overall, we won't go back for dinner, but we do plan to try lunch the next time we're in New Bern.
We had eaten there last year and it was fine. This time we were disappointed with the menu. Too few entrees. Four plus one special. My wife and I were celebrating an anniversary and wanted to enjoy our meal. There was nothing on the menu we wanted so we had a drink and left.
All three of us ladies enjoyed the food and the experience . We have been friends for about 55 years and and a couple of years ago started to go to lunch at a different place every month. This was our first time at 247 Craven, but I am sure it won't be our last.
Great food and service. Food is excellent and not your run of the mill menu. This is the place to expand your palette. The octopus appetizer was fantastic. I also ordered the pimento dip with pork rinds as a back up - our table devoured everything. My short ribs were delicious and mom's salmon excellent. Drinks and dessert also excellent - recommend the carrot cake with salted caramel drizzle. We all enjoyed a wonderful food and dining experience. Look forward to my next dining experience at 247 Craven.
I like this restaurant. Food good - price fair. Felt a bit rushed. Wait staff at this restaurant take any finished plate from table even though others are not finished. I did ask them once not to do it but this time I let it go. Noise level very high making cross table conversation somewhat difficult.
Having said all that I will return as food and preparation are about the best in my home town.
We love 247 Craven, but with the menu changing all the time, we must be selective in what we order. The scallop appetizer is delicious, but we miss the oyster appetizer. The new salmon entrée was not as good (to us) as the previous one (the salmon was good, but the sides served with it were lacking) and the bacon, egg, and potato pizza was not our cup of tea. We will return and order more selectively. It's fun to try new things, but when you do, you learn that not everything is going to be a "wow" for you. The service was amazing, as usual, and we enjoyed our wine.
