"I had wanted to check this place out for a while and was excited to finally be able to come in on Sunday with my parents. We enjoyed the food a lot but the service was a little pretentious. Not sure if I would come back when there are so many other restaurants in the city that can offer equally good food with better service."

"I cannot believe I have overlooked this quaint little eatery, especially since I have frequented Heritage General store just two doors down. We were seated right away, the menu provided several European choices, including a delicious steak tar tar. The mussels were great and we wanted to finish off the soup with some bread, which they happily obliged. Since it is BYOB, will definitely be coming back here. Great service, great neighborhood."

"I cannot say enough about the food, service, decor/vibe and BYO at this spot. It was unbelievably good, and I cannot wait to return again and again. "We really love this BYO! It was our second visit and it was just as delicious! I was really hoping to try the steak, but they had run out by the time we arrived. I ordered the veggie quinoa risotto instead (polar opposite, I know) and it was great - a huge heaping portion. We also had the asparagus, french onion soup and chicken and waffles. We went on Mother's Day and there were quite a few families there celebrating! I thought it was a sweet gesture that they gave out little gift bags to the moms. The last time we dined their, the chef's mother was our server so I was glad to see that she had the day off. :) Marco was our server and he was wonderful! Love this little gem."

"We enjoyed our dinner at Bistro Dre. But there were a couple of things we did not like. If you go - order one course at a time. We ordered everything at once, as is custom in most restaurants, but that did not work out well. Courses came out in random order and we received our entre dishes before the salad and flat bread.
The beet appetizer, flat bread, salad and sides were outstanding. We ordered the pork tenderloin and whitfish. Neither was very good.
The waiter did not seem to know how to take orders or serve food. He was very timid - gave us no information about the menu or offer any suggestions.
Having been negative - we would go back. Order one course at a time and stick with the starters and sides."

"The food was very tasty. Our salmon was cooked perfectly with a delicious corn relish. Mac and Cheese also unique with peas and sun dried tomatoes; very flavorful. The one concern we had with this restaurant was the website posted a completely different menu than they offered there. Unfortunately when we brought this up to the waiter, he was very unsympathetic nor apologetic. Commenting that the website hadn't been updated in a long time. You would think this isn't a big deal but we had a food allergies and dietary restriction that the new menu did not accommodate. The foods on the website was way more paleo friendly as compared to the carb bassed menu they offered- very frustrating. It was not completely clear this was a BYOB venue."

"This was our first trip to Bistro Dre and the ambience was great, the service was amazing and the menu looked like a winner... Even with everything looking like it was going to be a wow experience we were left with a little dissapointment. Our salad had all the right parts but it was sadly over dressed. Side note: the dressing was pretty darned good. The beats crushed it but then the quinoa and bacon encrusted white fish was way too salty. All that said, we still almost cleaned our plates.
At the end of dinner, we decided we need to go back to give it another shot with hopes that it will be better the next time around."

"It felt like our waiter was avoiding us on purpose, like an ex-bestfriend who's running around with your boyfriend. He was terrible. So was the host who might've been the owner. Ignored us for the first 10 minutes that we were there. It's also super crowded and noisy. Food is great but not worth dealing with the poor service and ambiance."

"My husband and I read the mixed reviews on yelp and tried to go with an open mind. What a pleasant surprise! The food was amazing. We had the spinach salad, chicken and waffles and steak. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys food and is willing not to count calories one night! :). The service was great too with ample street parking both metered and free."

"They try, but as many others have said, the kitchen has a hard time keeping up. We went early before a show. The service was friendly and the food was fine until the restaurant filled up, then the service began to slip. We waited a half an hour for our dessert but finally had to leave or miss our 8PM show. The patrons clearly love the BYOB. Arrive early and don't make any other plans for after dinner and you'll enjoy it. The food was decent with portions fit for sharing."

"I was quite excited about going to Bistro Dre for my bday dinner w/my bestie. But unfortunately the experience was less than stellar. The steak we had was over done - burned one might say. "When we arrived, the host had a handwritten res. list & our name was not listed. We had made the res. at 6 for and 8:15 seating. He hadn't checked opentable since 5 pm. He said the wait might be 15-20 mins. so we decided to wait (bad omen?). It was totally worth it! The food was amazing! Family owned/operated. The dad is the host, son is the chef and his mother was waiting tables. They were very busy! We had the asparagus, mac&cheese, chicken&waffles,pork & chocolate brownie. Everything was superb & we couldn't help but stuff ourselves! It's BYOB too. It was very smoky so they may have a ventilation issue. I'm rooting for this restaurant & can't wait to try brunch!"

"Overall, the food was quite good. We had the mac & cheese, eggplant flatbread and steak with mash potatoes. The only thing we didn't like as much was the asparagus soup (too salty). Unfortunately, the kitchen seemed overwhelmed that evening and we had to wait a while for our food. The waiter kept coming back every now and then and was very apologetic. Although we still had to wait a long time, we appreciated the fact that he was so nice. The air inside the dining room was thick with smoke coming from the kitchen. They tried to bring in some clean air by opening the door but it was a cold night outside and we had to either breathe the air from the kitchen or put our coats on. We may give it another try given the quality of the food."

"The server was so friendly and attentive! We went with his recommendations. We came on a weeknight and were one of 3 tables in the entire restaurant! Love the fact that it's BYOB. We ate the mac and cheese, asparagus and chicken and waffles. Overall a good experience and we would come back!"

"What a great addition to the neighborhood! The dishes are meant to share and are served family style - keep in mind the portions are quite large. We ended up taking home a lot of leftovers. Everything our waiter recommended we ended up trying and it all was great (mac n cheese, asparagus, pork loin, chicken and waffles, and mama's banana bread). It's a nice little bistro definitely with the European feel with both the host and waiter being very nice. We'll be going back."

"Shared plates that are truly large enough that they should be happily shared. With creative twists on American/French Bistro comfort food, we kept an open mind and enjoyed their creations of Mac & Cheese, a huge carnivore's cut of marinated pork loin, and Banana Bread Alaska. BYOB and classy enough to bring a decent bottle. Went early Saturday evening before theater and look forward to returning!"

"When we arrived and presented our reservation, the host commented that they were full. Although no direct words were said, we both felt like he was saying just go away. We fully understand the challenges that small restaurants face when people take longer than expected. We were seated about a half hour later and the waiter was super! Great attitude and very helpful. And the food was an excellent value. The plates are huge. Since it's BYOB, we ate very well for two and the check was under $50 with tip!! It's a good thing we ignored the host and had the patience to wait until we could eat and have such a nice surprise with the check. We'll return but would be helpful for the restaurant to remember that the first impression is very important."

"We found this thru Open Table, looking for an interesting menu and neighborhood appeal. We were taking a chance on a Saturday night. What a GREAT find! Truly. If you are in to quality dining, and better yet - prefer to pay reasonable prices - this is the place for you. If you can not tolerate sharing your plate, making reservations, paying cash, or bringing your own vino - this place is not for you.
Our meal was a fantastic pumpkin seed/chicken soup on the nicely spicy side, a spinach/goat cheese/pomegranate salad, and a fabulous chicken & cornbread waffle entrée. It was fantastic, period.
Service was very good considering how busy they were. And we will DEFINATELY be back, especially since there were so many things left to try !!"

"We liked the food, but the service was abysmal. This is a "mom and pop" place that will hopefully hit its stride someday, but Bistro Dre is not there yet. Until they get their maitre d' and waiters up to the level of the food, the service will be a dealbreaker for us."

"This is the second time I have eaten there and it was just great. It was a birthday for a couple of us and the BYO made it significantly cheaper and just more fun. Food was excellent and the chef is very creative. Creative chefs can sometimes cook up wonderful meals that still leave you hungry but not here. Not that the portions are large but they are enough to be filling.
Highly recommend the flatbread if it is on the menu and the fried chicken with waffles. Excellent."

"Our reservation was at 9:00 pm, but we were not seated until 9:30. The owner continued to blame patrons that were taking too long and had been there since 7:00 pm. We placed our entire order of salad, and appetizer, and two entrees at one time. We did not see, and were not notified that dishes would come out as they were ready. As a result, we received our entree beofre our salad and appetizer. This was a disappointment that they did not try to space out the meal, and did not inform us that our food would be delivered out of order. I think that it is common sense that if someone says that they want an appetizer, that it served before the entrée. In addition, the steak was served with alot of silver skin on it, making some of it inedible."

"Food was really good but service was horrendous. We were there for 3 hours and the server forgot half of our entrees, which is fine, but then he continued to promise food was coming out when it hadn't even been started. We ended up canceling it so one of our friends only had soup in that three hour period.
Change the service and it'd be great"

"The web site for the restaurant explains that they are a small plate restaurant. I called ahead to see if one might order thier own dish and the person who answered said that wasn't gauranteed "Plates come out as we make them" This gets awkward when some of the dishes are clearly not sharable, such as soup and a big plate of steak, unsliced. I only found this out the day of the reservation, so it was too late to reshuffle. Luckily, most dishes came out at somewhat the same time, except for that ordered by one person.It just never came out and when the rest of us finished eating and inquired about it, we were again told "this kitchen just puts out plates as they make them." Sounds like an excuse for bad service. Also, food as average at best"

"Excellent food, lovely cozy bistro. Host was very warm and treated my 4 year old like a star. BYOB! Some kind of open table issue with reservations made close to the time of the booking not getting through to the restaurant. Book early to avoid any problems. We were accomodated just fine, though we were told our confirmed open table reservation didn't come through."
