Franco Filippone, owner and Chef of Sette Bello Ristorante, started his career in the restaurant business at the side of his father, after the family emigrated from Palermo, Sicily to open their now historic restaurant in upstate New York. After a long apprenticeship in the family restaurant, Franco relocated to Fort Lauderdale, where he applied his culinary skills at such world class restaurants as The Addison in Boca Raton, Cafe D’ Angelo and the much lauded Casa d’ Angelo in Fort Lauderdale. Now he brings all his many cooking talents to his charming new restaurant, delivering new twists on classic Italian dishes.
"As a frequent business traveler I am constantly on the lookout for good Italian food at my various destinations and while I generally don’t have very high expectations outside of the obvious locations like New York and Chicago, Sette Bello was a very pleasant surprise. The service was excellent from the friendly greeting at the front end to my professional and very knowledgeable server. An excellent wine selection and the food was exceptional from the stuffed mozzarella appetizer to the homemade pasta and shrimp entrée cooked to al dente perfection. I’ll definitely be back."

"Lovely dinner and evening. Was surprised that our Open Table reservation was not in "the book" by the door. As it was a Monday night, there was no problem getting a table. Nevertheless, there is a glitch in their system."

"I had the veal pizzaiola; it was nothing more than veal in a very ordinary tomato sauce. I specifically told the waitress, when I ordered, to go slowly because I had ordered a very good bottle of wine; instead my food came like it was a speed circuit, and then, followed quickly with a check."

"This was our second time at Sette Bello and it was excellent. On both occasions the food was excellent. From the appetizer (we shared the meatballs, the sausage with peppers and the burrata mozzarella), the main entres (dover sole, the rack of lamb) to the dessert which was the homemade Italian cheesecake, everything was outstanding. We will definitely be back and will recommend to our friends."

"Although in a strip shopping center with OutBack, it was warm and intimate inside. We had a cozy romantic table for 2, but the large party to our side added a guest which created a crowded area. One member of the group was rather loud and obnoxious, but not restaurant's fault. Veal chop with mushrooms was HUGE, delicious and favorful! Clams in wine and butter were the perfect meal for me.
We found a Spanish rioja wine we had shared before we were married @ an exellent bottle price. Our server was attentive without being overbearing and managed to negotiate within the limited space caused by the extra guest at the large table."
