Nevin's Brewing Company
Nevin's Brewing Company opened its doors in December 2012. Like all breweries, we use grain to make our beer. But unlike other breweries, we do not simply discard our used or "spent" grain. Instead, we deliver our spent grain to local farmers to use as feed for livestock and compost to enrich the soil for vegetables. We then, in turn, purchase this well-fed livestock and nutrient-rich vegetables to make our steaks, burgers, salads, side dishes and so many other items on our menu. Our goal is not only to bring you the freshest, most flavorful food and beer possible, but also to aim as high as we can for true sustainability.

"Since this is a Tommy Nevins bar, we were hoping the food would be as good as their Naperville place. The food was very mediocre. My burger was average, but the fries were greasy and kind of disgusting. My wife ordered the nachos, and again, very mediocre. We ordered a pizza for take home, and I don't know if we'll eat it. Absolutely nothing special about it. Might as well be a frozen pizza from Walmart.
Honestly, there was absolutely nothing about the food that would make us want to return. Better places close by for the same price or less."

"I've been here several times, and NBC is always pretty great. They home-brew several of the beers on their list, and go out of their way to get as many craft beers as they can get their hands on (including ciders). The food is pretty good- slim pickin's for a Gluten Free eater such as myself but for everyone else I've never heard any complaints! Th-Sat they typically have some sort of live music, so if you want to be able to hold a conversation over your meal go before 7pm on those nights. Wednesday they also have a trivia night.
Bottom line is I'll be back here for sure!!!"

"The place had a very strong "fishy" smell. No idea why, as seafood is not their specialty. So, put off right from the get go. The service certainly left something to be desired. To be fair, the place was crowded. However, we frequently had empty glasses, were brought the wrong beers more than once, and the martinis (served in a champagne glass?) were sorely lacking. The food offerings sounded great on the menu, but were lackluster at best: soggy bacon, kind of bland, a whole lot of unimpressive. The band brought in quite a crowd, good atmosphere, but the dining experience left a lot to be desired. Outdoor area seemed nice-pool table, fire pits, etc. I'd be willing to try again for drinks/GNO and outdoor ambiance, but probably not dinner."

"Sandwiches are the thing to order here, very good. Dinners have been fair. Our dinner service was slow, waitress said the bus boy was supposed to bring us our silverware and eventually we got it. Service at dinner was fair and our drinks were served on-time. But once our friends joined us at 9:30p they waited 30 minutes (as did we) to get their first drink. My husband was drinking a special cocktail of $10 and the drinks came in different glasses and did not even taste the same each time. Not worth the money, very expensive. Service was horribly slow. We were told wait staff was sent home earlier because it was slow, thus poor management."

"Food is good. Service is horrible, especially host staff. We were told on arrival we would have a 35 minute wait. After noticing 10 empty tables we were told those tables were for reservations. We went on OpenTable and made a reservation for the current time and were then promptly seated. We spent about an hour eating, and during that time those same 8-10 tables sat empty, while other groups were still waiting for a table. Horrible."

"Food - pretty good. Server - Good guy, knew about beer, quick and friendly. The Bad and annoying. The hostess. We were taken to a table upstairs, right over a stairwell and in front of a tv. Table for 4, was 2 smaller tables pushed together. It was a weird set up for 4 people. One of the tables was very wobbly. So I ask if we can switch to one of the other 3 open normal tables that are in area. She tells me those tables are for reservations. I show issue with table wobbling. Again tells me those tables are for reservations. We have reservation, what makes them better than us? She then says "well I am doing something right now, it will be a couple minutes." Server comes over, moves us and was great. Hostess has issue all night"

They had our reservation in a seperate dining area and we would have been away from the band that was playing later. They were able to switch it to a different location but there were very few options in the main bar area."

"Service was the worse. We went and it was not yet busy. The hostess took us upstairs where there was only one table sat and it had a family with a screaming child. The hostess proceed to seat us as close to the screaming child as possible. We asked to sit somewhere else since there were tons of other open tables. The hostess said no that they were booked and that was the seat we needed to take. We said no and proceeded to leave. This hostess was rude and unprofessional. She is the reason we will not return to this place and the reason for this poor review. Sure the food was good but we did not get that far. I'm very disappointed."

"We looked forward to going here and were disappointed. We were put into a large room that felt more like a cafeteria, bright lighting, tables scattered all over! Sat there until a nice waitress realized our server wasn't coming in and she ended up taking care of us. She was the most redeeming part of our visit there. The food was decent bar food and that's about it. Nevins should have been more on the order of Tommy Nevins. I hope after all the work put into the place it is around long enough to reap the rewards of it."

"The good is that it is close, food is good, lots of TVs and it's big lots of seating. Now the review, this is the second time I made an open table reservation and had to go through hoops to get it confirmed at the restaurant, it's like they don't know what you are talking about. The seating is odd, they should open up the wall into the back room who would want to sit there and the booth like seating against the wall always has 4-5 tables pushed together so if you are 2 it discourages sitting there. Service is inconsistant depends on who is waiting on you. My wife drinks wine, I'm told it is on tap that's not a good sign and they charge $10.00 a glass for this jug wine? Been here 3 time, 3 strikes you're out....."

""Reservation room" felt uninviting and odd and was too bright. Food and service were good, arrived almost too fast and we felt rushed. Stayed for the band. We have seen many bands in bars and this had to be the worst we have ever seen. I think they were called "One Night Band for a reason. Also, beer garden/smoking area looked like it hadn't been swept since the restaurant open a few weeks ago."
