Waiter was friendly and provided good recommendations and opinions on what was good and populate on the menu. Made reservations but came over an hour early on Father's day and they were able to accommodate for our change in time without any problems. Good restaurant to take my parents who are more health conscious."

"I live in downtown Toronto and the Fish House downtown was a regular destination. Now located in Markham it's about a 30-minute drive to get there. Bonus, parking is free. Real bonus is a wide selection of fresh, fresh food for the fish lover. I love the planked salmon and a cup of the lobster bisque is marvellous. Wine list is fine, the service quick, friendly, helpful."

"I thought it was extremely nice that I wispered to the hostess thinking it was our waiter that it was my mom's birthday that day. As we sat down I couldnt tell the waiter. The hostess however had passed on the info to him and a cake with a candle it was a nice touch thank you!"

"It was my husband's 70th birthday and the family treated him to dinner at the Fish House because, being from an island, Fish is his favourite food. The service was great, the dinner choices were even greater --- we had a surprise birthday cake for him and our waiter (unfortunately I can't remember his name) was excellent and organized the whole birthday cake and candles, etc. very well.
The choices are great and the service time is very good too. You don't have to sit and wait and wait. We are certainly very confident to recommend your restaurant to our friends. The fact that you even have "non fish" dishes is a very good mix because for e.g. my younger son does not eate fish but loved the lobster brisk and the burger!"

"We gave it a second chance and tried for lunch this time. I advised the hostess we had reservations, but she said usually at this time it is slow and reservations are not required and just sat us in the dark dim lit dining room. We asked to be moved to the other side which had more natural light with window view. They opened at 1130am, we were there for Noon, probably only the second table and the people at the bar. We ordered around 12:30pm. Food came quickly. Not too please with seafood linguine,too much butter in sauce couple pieces of shrimp and salmon pieces. The fish & chips, the fish could have been a bit bigger for the price. The daily specials menu was not appealing. Decor seemed dated. Ripped seats in booth should be replaced."

"Eight of us had dinner at the Fish House, and it has been a while since we have been there. We are glad we went back as, although the decor is a bit tired, the food was excellent and the service was great.
Also, because the tables aren't packed in beside each other and loud music isn't playing in the background, we could actually have a conversation without having to yell at each other."

"The fish was excellent, well prepared and moist. We all had fish. Vegetables were nicely cooked and seasoned. Creme brulee was too heavy. Need a lighter recipe. Noise level lower and better than Sheppard Ave. site. Service not fast but not rushed so met our needs. Washrooms clean and bright.

"Went on Good Friday, so a very busy house and they were able to serve very quickly, never felt rushed or delayed, but it was a fairly quick meal. They were dealing with some big tables at the same time.Would say that while the food style and cooking doesn't go outside the box, menu is big, food seemed fresh and dependable, so no one is likely to be disappointed."

"We had a reservation for 7 pm on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was running a promotion for a fixed price $25 - dinner. We were promptly seated on the right side room which was quiet and good for our table as we wanted to have a conversation. Three of us actually ordered the fixed menu. We were very happy with the aperitifs; crab cakes, goat cheese salad and the chowder. Crusted Salmon with au gratin potatoes as the main entree was also good. Not particularly impressed with the lobster dish; it had a miniscule lobster tail on a pile of noodles and canned peas. The desert was a bread pudding of which I wasn't very fond. The wine was a good Robert Mondavi Sauvignon Blanc reasonably priced. Service was good but rushed - out by 8:45 pm."

Started with Spinach and Goat Cheese Salad - red wine vigaigrette was a little on the tart side, but the salad was good; my partner had the Blue Crab Corn Chowder - not a strong crab flavour. For the main we both had the Maple Pecan Crusted Atlantic Salmon with scallop potatoes and green beans. The salmon was excellent; the scalloped potatoes were swimming in butter and there was enough to feed a small family; green beans were fine. Finished with their New Orleans Bread Pudding - it was very good, but not as creamy as the best bread pudding can be. We were eating at a late lunch hour, so there were few patrons (except at the bar, which always seems busy). Our waitress was very attentive."

"We have always enjoyed our meals here, but this time there were a few problems. The shrimp and cod cakes were nicely done, but the spinach salad did not include much goat cheese or figs, and could have used a little more dressing. The lobster pappardelle was just as described; a very tasty main course. The maple pecan salmon was very good indeed, but the accompanying green beans and scallop potatoes were badly undercooked and mostly inedible. In fairness, we didn't mention this until the end of the meal; the servers would have brought something else or had it re-cooked. The New Orleans bread pudding was a substantial size, but quite stodgy, and there was no tast of bourbon in the sauce. A light dessert would have been a better choice."

"While the reservation (a business lunch for three) had been made several days in advance, our party was asked to move shortly after we received our pre-lunch drinks, to accommodate a larger party. Not a great start.
The service throughout was fine though not remarkable.
What was most disappointing was the food. For a restaurant that calls itself "The Fish House" one would naturally expect top-quality fish. At best, the food was mediocre. Presentation was bland.
Neither would I return to The Fish House nor can I honestly recommend it to others."

"I regularly visited The Fish House at their previous location in North York. It was simply the best place for fresh fish outside of the downtown area. This is only the second time I have been to their present location in Markham. The changes were a little disappointing to me only because I was looking forward to some old favorites. The appetizer and salads were excellent. I found the fish portions to be somewhat small and there is no way for me to verify the weight. Dinner portions were not overfilling but that leaves room for desert, which was excellent. What disappointed me the most was the cost. Two people sharing one drink, one appetizer one and desert totaled almost $80 despite both of us having the small fish portion."
