"I took my wife out for a romantic dinner and was not disappointed. We both had a wonderful meal. We were able to carry a conversation and didn't have to ask the waiter for anything. Recommend the carne asada it was amazing. My wife loved the cucumber magarita."

"Good food, good margaritas, good location, good patio! This is one of our new favorites!!!
Only negatives: Services was a little slow.....but we think it was because they were so busy with Mother's Day! Their salsa has a weird consistency and was not spicy. :(
We look forward to going back!"

"The food is fantastic, the service is phenomenal and the courtyard is the perfect setting for a great night out. Surprisingly affordable as well. Its place between the new Perot Museum and Klyde Warren Park ensure guests have plenty to do before or after their meal."

"This is not your typical Tex-Mex. Much better quality food. This is our second time and just as good as the first! Be sure to make a reservation on the weekends. The only complaint is that being a Saturday night and crowded, they served the entre faster than previously and before we had a chance to begin to finish our queso. It was obvious they were trying to turn the tables faster than 1 hour. Also, when I ordered a Mexican Martini (really good), the waiter said he usually does those on the rocks. If I wanted it on the rocks, I would have ordered it that way!"

"Still working out the kinks here. One of the worst experiences I've had. I asked for waters for the table and 15 minutes later when our waiter returned he did not have the waters. When I asked why, he said they're just very busy. Wow."

"Meso Mayo is one of the best restaurants in Dallas and Im happy they finally opened one close to uptown. The food is creative but still very authentic, fresh and full of flavor. The service is very nice and fast. Dont forget to try the avocado margarita :)"

"We love the flavors at Meso Maya - house made corn tortillas, lime, avocado, tender meats. They don't rely on heat or heavy amounts of cheese or fats for their flavor, just well made food with good tastes on their own. The salsa provided at the beginning of the meal has a roasted flavor and has been hot on some visits and a little milder on other ones. I highly recommend the tacos, but also the tortas are excellent."

"A great addition in the burgeoning Arts District in the sector near the fabulous new Perot Museum and across the freeway from downtown Dallas, Meso Maya is a lively venue with a gorgeous enclosed outdoor dining patio. Our second visit was just as good as our first, with wonderful chips and salsa, and a wide variety of Yucatan-based menu items and daily specials. Located in the building that formerly housed one of Dallas' oldest tortilla factories, Meso Maya is a good option pre-theater or pre-event. Just tell your waitperson if you have a curtain time."

"Food is very good - not your typical mexican food options which is very nice for change. It is noisy to eat inside but there is a great outdoor patio with lots of seating and generally not too noisy - unless you are sitting at the tables closest to the indoor dining by the windows. They have speakers and TVs mounted under the eaves which are little noisy. I noticed that within 5 minutes of our waiter picking up our payment for our meal, the volume on the speaker by our table increased noticeably - so much that we could no longer hear the person next to us talking. I guess this is a way of encouraging you to free up a table after you have paid."

"Meso Maya is a delightful restaurant with a wonderful outdoor patio, delicious food and a warm and inviting wait staff. We loved the food, especially the Queso Fundido appetizer. The warm melted cheese is nothing like "queso" you get at a Tex-Mex restaurant. The white melted cheese is rich with sauted peppers, carmelized onions and chunks of flavorful chorizo. It is served in a little cast iron dish with warm corn tortillas. Yum! I could have eaten only that and been very happy!. Standout entrees included Cochinita Pibil and Budin Azteca de carne. Our waitress Abigail was great! Thanks for a great evening"

"We loved it! Authentic moles, delicious food, tasty Margaritas, and great service despite the crowd mean we are looking forward to returning. The weather was perfect for patio seating. The hostess even followed through on turning the music down a tad. Nothing worse than not being able to hear your dining companions. I wish you the best. Meso Maya is a great addition for downtown."

"We had a wonderful meal outside in the courtyard. The service could not have been better, the food was very good and the setting lovely. My only note of caution is that, walking through the inside of the restaurant to get to the car, the noise level was more than energetic. People seemed to be enjoying themselves but if you prefer a quieter environment, try sitting outside."

"Excellent service and a great menu. I've eaten here about 4-5 times, both at lunch and at dinner during the week. Everything I've tried has been good. The staff appears to be glad you are there, which is more than I can say about some restaurants. Love the beet salad!"

"We are big fans of the Preston-Forest location, and this was our first visit downtown. We found the food to be a little less wonderful than at the North Dallas location - it arrived cold, and the presentation was sloppy. The server seemed very eager to sell us more drinks every time he passed the table, but he never brought us the guacamole we had ordered."

"I'm writing a review after two visits within a month. My husband, kids and I have had our longtime "go to" Mexican restaurants in DFW...never venturing out. It just happened that a month ago we were in the area of Meso Maya Downtown and decided to try it out... What a great find!!!!! Just took my husband's mother and aunt there who were visiting from out of town. I can't give this place enough positive comments...just love everything about it!! The patio is one of the best in the city...so serene and beautiful with well positioned TV's for sports! The service staff is amazing... in both of our visits our waiter was not obtrusive but so very helpful with suggestions! Try it...you won't be disappointed!"

"My wife asked me to pick a restaurant to go to before we went to the Mint Condition concert. Now I usually let her pick the restaurant because she's a"Foodie" and I'm not. But reluctantly I decided to. The atmosphere was very pleasant and there weren't too many people due to it being early. So we asked to be seated on the patio which was done with no problem. Our hostess also recommended the avocado margarita, which my wife loved so much she had 2, and the Molotes. I had the Conchinita Pibil and my wife had the Carne Asada. I also had a La Flaca and a long Island Iced Tea. Needless to say we enjoyed ourselves VERY MUCH and will be returning! The best part was hearing my wife say "I picked a good one!""

"Meso Maya is an amazing restaurant! I checked out reviews from Yelp, TripAdvisor, and Open Table - and all had great things to say about this gem. But the experience was even better. From the avocado margaritas (think refreshing) to the sumptuous dishes - and then to the blueberry cake with Mexican ice cream, the dinner was fantastic. And yes, the plantains and carne asada were to die for!"

"I chose Meso Maya from Open Table and all of the researched web reviews, to share our (my "new Suitor" and my) 1st Valentine's Day together. The restaurant surpassed any and all expectations I could ever have envisioned!!!
The waitstaff was OUTSTANDING and the food was plentiful; reasonably priced; and absolutely AMAZING!! Both of us are still having wonderful 'flashbacks' over a month later!! TNC P.S. - Try the seafood enchiladas with a top off of bread pudding...."

"Authentic cuisine, Excellent Service, affordable prices - definitely worth trying. I had the best Chili Rellenos accompanied with incredible short ribs (not any fat whatsoever!!!) potatoes and white rice. Large portion! Enchiladas with beef brisket all the way through the enchilada - all meat that melts in the mouth. Affordable wines. Huge marguerite/Tequila and cocktail list and many beers by the bottle. Out door seating as well."

"They have perhaps the best salsa I have ever dipped a chip in! All the food was excellent. Although they have gourmet versions of enchiladas and the usual TexMex it is their more creative dishes that are the draw. Conchita pibil was my fav."

"Meso Maya has very good Mexican dishes. This is not a Tex-Mex place, so keep that in mind and go next door to El Fenix if you want fajitas. I had garlic shrimp with rice, which was very flavorful. Margaritas were great, and they had many variations to choose from. Can't wait to try out the patio."

"My pork chop was excellent, but the sauce on which it was placed was simply weird. It didn't seem to be either a spicy sauce or a cooling sauce- just liquid. But the chop itself was moist and well-cooked (my favorite part of the meal). I will say the guacamole now challenges Chipotle which has, until Friday night, had the superlative best guac. Now there's a race!
My least favorite part of this experience was the noise. Do not go here if you want to have a conversation with your guests/family/date/lover. It's a popular place (for now, afterall it is Dallas), but the noise is unbecomming. The restaurant is dark, should you have vision difficulty."

"We were excited about trying after reading several reviews, but in general we agreed there was really nothing special. The guacamole was OK, not great. My shrimp enchiladas were good, but nothing special. The beans and rice were tasteless. I mean really not good. On the positive side, my wife's appetizer ceviche was very good. The frozen margarita? Not even up to El Chico standards. Mexican martini? Good, but for $12, just not worth it. Her "authentic" Cuban mojito? How do you make a mojito with no mint leaves? So, while the service was OK, the ambience OK, food, OK. No reason to return."
