The River House
The River House is perched on the bank of the scenic Sturgeon River in the heart of the historic Mission district of St. Albert, Alberta. This unique building and location creates a truly unique atmosphere where the regulars and the newcomers alike come to relax and enjoy great food with great friends. During the summer months our patio is filled with patrons taking in the view of the river during weekend brunch or dinner, while enjoying a uniquely Canadian dish made with only the best of the locally produced ingredients. Although the heart of this house is its kitchen, the courteous staff and casual atmosphere combine to bring a memorable experience to every customer that walks through the door.

"Unfortunately, this experience reminded me of why we don't go out to eat very often any more. Servers were pleasant but we did have to wait for service even though the restaurant was not full.
I reserved for Mother's Day brunch to take my wife out on her special day. Her eggs Benedict were runny and my omelet was very dry and bland. It was a limited menu so I would have expected what was offered would have been of a high standard, which I expect when I spend $15 for an omelet!
Looks like we will continue our search for a restaurant that can provide the expected value for the money spent :-("

"This is a nice location in an old house. Since there was not much selection I would probably not go back because there was only one or two items that were of interest. The presentation is very nice and I guess that is what you pay for. It was not really a WOW factor."

"A great place for a quiet dinner with friends and family. We enjoyed the fact that we were able to talk and enjoy the comfortable ambiance.. The food was so tasty. The only complaint was that for the price of $35.00 a plate, a bit more greens on the plate and some fresh bread served with dinner would justify the price. I do not have a big appetite and I was able to eat everything on my plate."

"We enjoyed our Sunday Brunch here very much. The setting is very nice and we were really enthralled with the original art that adorned the walls. "Our dinner at the River House was AMAZING! It was probably one of the best meals we have ever had. We had the soup of the day - Sour Cream and Chive (it was outstanding!), crab cakes (appetizer) and the Atlantic salmon (Entree). The salmon was delicious as well as the rice and brussels that it came with. This was our first visit and will not be our last. We can't wait to return. We had a look at the brunch menu and it looks Delicious! Our compliments to the Chef!"

"This River House restaurant looks very appealing, especially at night when the stings of lights highlight the architecture of what appears as a grand old house It would have been very disappointing if there was no restaurant in the house to enjoy. The restaurant does not disappoint, either in ambiance or culinary delight. The menu is not long, but sufficient for each varied taste within our group. The described ingredients of the soup of the day and salad selections were intriguing and did not disappoint. The main course selections chosen by our group were cooked to perfection for all but one. One beef dish was requested to be more well done and was returned quickly with satisfying results. Desserts were excellent to finish the meal."

"We held an 80th birthday brunch for Mother last weekend. The food was fantastic and everyone loved their meals. The room is pretty and warm and I would love to go back in the summer to sit and have a meal on the terrace over looking the river.

The restaurant is quiet and provides a romantic ambiance. I would not return on a regular basis but may visit on a special occasion. "This was our first time to the River House. It is a charming place that has is comfortable and nicely decorated. The service was very good, our waiter was friendly and checked on us without being in our face. The menu is not extensive and the prices are about average.
