"Had a table for two overlooking the ocean. Great service from waitress, Monica. Food and wine were excellent. Abalone was delicious! A bit pricey for everyday dining, but definitely hits the spot for special occasions."

"Great view of the ocean if you sit in the right spot. I think they need to expand their menu and have more variety for the customers to choose from since it is a seafood restaurant. Service was a little slow but it may have been because it was mothers day. I would have expected them to be better prepared for the number of people who might want to order oysters because they ran out at 6pm. Can get a little noisy."

"Unfortunately, for how much money I spent, I do not believe it was a good experience. The staff was genuine and friendly but that's not what I paid for...the potatoes tasted as if they had been "around" for awhile, my daughter's steak was not as tender as was expected. I have waited years to go to this restaurant and just do not believe that $250 for 3 meals and beverages was legit. We will not be repeat customers. We also vacation annualy in Newport Beach."

"Food was good, service was even better. However, we have dined here many times in the past and were quite shocked upon arriving when we were led to our table...in the basement! I was unaware that they even had a basement dining area, or dungeon would better descibe it. We were looking forward to a nice beach like dining experience and it was far from what we expected....no ocean view and actually only one window at the very end of the room by the stairs. Make sure you confirm what dining room you have reserved before heading here. Otherwise no complaints."

"My husband ordered the baseball cut of swordfish, he just didn't care for the cut, the fish was fine. My lobster tail was chewy and the flavored butter poured over it overpowered the flavor of the lobster (I didn't realize it would be poured over the tail). The caramel ice cream dessert was excellent!"

"My husband and I celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversay at 21 Oceanfront. The manager made sure we had her favorite table and the best service possible. We really loved every moment that we shared there. Not to mention the terrific crab legs and cioppino. Great atmosphere! Our booth cuddled up to the Pier, Beach and Oceanfront views. I would definately recommend this restaurant for a special occasion, party or just a great night out with friends. Hopefully, the manager and her staff will read this and know how special they made our night!

"I took my best friend for her birthday. It was our first time dining in the wine cellar as we usually sit at the bar and watch the sunset. The food is always amazing. The 3 bartendars (Big Tony, Lil Tony, and newcomer Ryan) were awesome. Our server Roberto took good care of us like we were family. He was excellent. We love this place and go back every chance we get. Thanks!"

"The food was outstanding. The staff went out of their way to ensure that our 29th anniversary dinner was memorable and romantic. We watched the ocean sunset as we sipped complimentary champagne from our cozy booth. The wine list was very complete. Our server helped us choose a fine Cabernet to compliment our dinner. "I loved ambience, view was beautiful. Service fabulous. Drinks were good. Good place for cocktail Menu limited. E.g. 1 chicken dish. 1 pasta dish No main salad dish. Such as Crab Louie salad. Women usually like this. Otherwise all fis/ steak Food was good but was ordinary. Chicken Milanese. Served with 1 scoop rice, steamed vegetable No sauce, no garnish, nothing special or unique. Had steak & French fries. Good, but ordinary. Had blueberry cheesecake. Again very plain. Pasta seafood meal was good. Appetizers complimentary was nice idea. But again very ordinary Small roll with cream cheese spread.."

"We should have realized that we were going to like this place when we pulled up and noted that the valet parking was clearly at a subsidized price ($4.00!) We had a cocktail in the crowded but friendly bar - complete with vocalist - and watched the street scene and beautiful sunset. As it was a Sunday evening (we had no idea) we were able to order a great Steak Frites with salad and dessert at a very reasonable "prix fixe" price - so we splurged on the 50% off wine!! The owner (or possibly manager) was very attentive as was our server. Only issue was undercooked steak, but even though still returned a bit rare the second time it was a very tasty cut of meat.
Newport Beachers are lucky to have this calm oasis so close to the Pier!"

"I took my wife here for our 12th year anniversary. It was an excellent experience. The food was amazing and our server was great. The Clam Chowder was the best I've ever had, and I always order clam chowder, so that's saying a lot. Our entrees were also top notch. We didn't realize they came with sides so we ordered a side of Potatoes Au Gratin to share and boy were we glad we made that mistake. I will come here instead of The Capital Grille anytime.....first visit, but certainly not the last."

"We had reservations for 7:45 however the manager Tony took us in early and sat us. My only complaint would be that the mashed potatoes were luke warm and not hot. The rest of the food was hot and very very good. The service was very good and the ambiance was outstanding."

"This restaurant was recommended to us so we expected good food, but the prix fixe menu, the size of the potions and especially the service were over the top. We especially enjoyed the live music, which made our dining experience even more pleasant."

"I was quite disappointed in my experience. Upon arrival we were treated rather abruptly and literally brushed over to the cocktail lounge as they were running late. The bar was crowded and noisy, and the drinks were overpriced. All of that paled in comparison to our dinner. Put bluntly, our steaks had no taste and were salvaged only when we overstated them. Extremely poor experience and I would not go back."

"We had a wonderful experience with a group of 9 for a 50th Birthday celebration. We dined in the wine cellar and had the room to ourselves, which made it extra special. Our server was outstanding and the food fantastic. The complimentary transportation for our large group was the icing on the cake."

"21 Oceanfront is a favorite of mine and my husbands. This is not really a family restaurant as the prices are expensive. The view of the ocean, the wine list and chocoalate souflee' make for a very romantic experience. Highly recommended for "date night"."

"21 Oceanfront was absolutely phenomenal. The quality of food, service and ambiance is exceptional. The Chilean sea bass is magnificent and highly recommended. If you have time, enjoy an overnight stay at Doryman's Inn. It is owned by the same proprietor and is just above the restaurant."
