"We went to the Bistro for dinner based on a recommendation from some friends. I had the lamb and my wife the cornish game hen. Both were excellent in taste and presentation. Service was friendly and attentive and timing out of the kitchen was perfect. This is a little gem of a restaurant and I highly recommend it. WIll definitely be going back."

"We had heard great reviews and decided to try for a family birthday. We all tried the 3 course selection each course was superb. We have decided this is our new favourite restaurant. Excellent!"

"Excellent food (best I have ever had, other than my wife's of course), excellent and personal service was a great enhancement to the evening. the ambiance is warm, friendly and romantic....a great place to propose! the Hilltop Bistro is now our "Go To Eatery for all occassions"."

"This was our third trip to the Hilltop Bistro and it has quickly become our very favourite place to celebrate anything or take out of friends to,...any excuse really to eat there. Everything is top notch and they always surpass my expectations. I would not hesitate to recommend it and have to pretty much anyone that will listen to me :). The staff is friendly, knowledgable and prompt. The food is beautiful and tastes amazing. Intimate little spot...you will need a reservation."

"Hilltop is our favorite restaurant in Nanaimo...the food and service is always Excellent. We are recognized when we come in, they remember our favorite wines....it is always a special experience. "This is the best restaurant in Nanaimo, and would rival the best in the lower mainland. We have some new gems here, by young restauranteurs, that have significantly improved the dining scene. For dining in the evening, this is the best. A small and refined menu, a small selection of wine and beers. Everyone by I had the wine pairings menu, and everyone loved their meal. All 6 of us. Keep it going! Thank you."

"Our third visit and not quite as good as the previous two. Sat at our table for 10 minutes without a greeting or offering a drink, it felt like 1 server was definitely not enough as she seemed frayed and rushed for most of our stay. The food was excellent, but a few small things stood out. The pork belly was not crispy like it usually is, and the lemon custard was much sweeter than previously and some plates were a bit cold. Very minor things I know. We will definitely go back, but I hope their success and gain in popularity is not watering down the soup as they say."

"I suspect that my dinner at Hilltop Bistro will be something I remember much longer than most other restaurant meals. As each course of the prix fixe came, my friends and I stopped talking briefly while we explored all the wonderful, thoughtful components of our dishes. Everything was delicious, inventive, and visually pleasing. The atmosphere in the small place is energetic and warm. Some might find it a bit noisy, but we liked the atmosphere very much. Looking forward to the opening of the patio."

"Great experience after wanting to come here for a while. The quality and presentation of the food is outstanding. The service is courteous and knowledgable, and atmosphere is clean and relaxing. Definitely the best dining experience available in Nanaimo and not meant just for special occasions. You can even just grab a drink and some charcuterie at the bar. It's affordable and interesting without being pretentious. Highly recommended and we'll be back soon."
