Serge Bistro is a charming and cozy restaurant conveniently located on 2nd Avenue. With original artwork from up-and-coming artists flanking the walls and a touch of Gallic charm throughout the dining room, Serge Bistro is the perfect place for a casually elegant lunch or dinner. We offer a distinct selection of appetizers, soups and entrees to satisfy every taste, and we even offer fresh seasonal dishes throughout the year. Our extensive wine list provides a perfect pair for every meal, and our mouth-watering desserts are the perfect final touch.
To start your meal, try our Escargots de Bourgogne in savory garlic butter, or opt for our Crab Cake with salad and champagne vinaigrette. For your main course, try one of our pastas, seafood or meat dishes such as the Wild Mushroom Ravioli, Sauteed Sea Scallops or Coq au Vain. No meal would be complete without a delicious dessert, so try the Creme Brulee or Mousse au Chocolat to end on a sweet note.
"It's a hidden gem on 2nd Ave. Food's very good (w/ generous servings) and prices are reasonable. Our waitress was attentive and responsive. Serge the owner sang "happy birthday" as he presented my dessert with a candle and the other diners joined in. Then, the friendly gentleman at the next table secretly took care of our check! Only in New York would a complete stranger do this! If you're reading this Mr. Gary, thank you, thank you! You're very sweet--you gave me a lovely story to share. My friends and I shall surely return."

"This is the kind of comfortable, go-to restaurant that provides good, unpretentious food in a friendly and relaxed environment. Serge himself is a generous and gregarious host and makes you feel very welcome and taken care of. It's definitely good value for the money. My only complaint is that the design is not particularly engaging and seems like something out of 1991, but hopefully Serge can make some changes to make it more like his former place on Madison Avenue."

"I had dined at "Serge" when it was Madison Ave., and was delighted to know it had moved to a place nearer my home. The food is excellent, and what the review above does not capture is that: 1) the price is extremely reasonable. There is a prix fixe menue that is only $28.00, which includes appetizer, entree and dessert; and 2) Serge himself presides over his place with true European charm. Each visitor is made to feel at home. I enjoyed a substantial vegetable soup with kale, a superb tilapia with orange sauce, and a nice sized portion of tiramisu, not to mention hot slices of whole wheat bread fresh from the oven. The staff was extremely polite and professional."

"My friend and I ordered from the pix fixe menu which is very generous. I had the Tilapia which I found to be succulent with an unusually good sauce. My friend had the steak frites. She wasn't at all satisfied. I think it had to do with the cut of meat, very thin. And while we enjoy a hot plate we think her food kept cooking so tht the steak was well done instead of medium. The salad on the (hot) plate was hot to the taste and she would have preferred it cold. Appetizers were tasty: mesclun salad and pate. And desert options were varied and good. I had the floating island/meringue and she had flan. The service was gracious and engaging. I'll come back and so will my friend to see if Serge has enough going for it to make us regulars."

"Very nice French bistro menu. The prices are quite reasonable especially for the quality of the food. The wine list is smallBut they usually have some additional gems so its worth asking your sever what else us available that day."

"I enjoyed the food but the manager was upset I did not take the free champagne. I am not a drinker and he had no problems showing his anger towards my friend and I. Also, one of the waitresses just stood behind my friend staring at us for most of our meal. The food was great though. I prefer Bistro 61 jus a few blocks over."

"Do yourself a favor, don't go to this place. we went last night for valentines day, not only was the service terrible (our waitress could hardly speak English) but the food was so bad, it appeared to come from omaha steaks and served microwaved. of course, it took 45 minutes to get our cold appetizers, and an additional hour to get said terrible food, which we had to ask where each course was, after tirelessly waiting. there was nothing appealing about this restaurant, it was one of the worst dining experiences i've had in living 10 years in new york. disappointing doesn't being to come close to describing the experience. I've had better food at mcdonalds."

"We were one of 2 couples in the restaurant at this particular time. I enjoyed the hanger steak and the lobster ravioli was good according to my friend. The french onion soup was decent but not special. The chocolate mousse was quite good but rich enough so that two people should reasonably expect to split it. Waiter was very young but a great guy both knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing. We did the prix fixe meal which is the clear winner here."
