In life, it stands for the moment in which your mind is free for the body or spirit to create.
In Chicago, it is a place where you can sit back and relax in the presence of good company and good food. The philosophy behind the name allows us to give back to Chicago in a way where dining is not just about putting food into your system because you’re supposed to. It’s about satisfying your hearts desires through the palate. It’s fulfilling your taste buds with complementary flavors that absorb into your well-being and make you feel good about yourself. We build on the fundamentals of Japanese ingredients with our own personality. And present to you – ENSO Sushi & Bar.
"Kept it simple, took the recommendation of the server on a coulple of rolls that were both fantastic. The crazy 8 and Lady Diana. Server had too many tables for her to handle alone, only saw here a couple times during the meal. Overall dig the place though, food was very good and I liked the ambience."

"This was our first visit to Enso. We chose it because a) we wanted sushi, and b) we were in the middle of a snow storm and we could walk there. It was a really slow night, so we expected really attentive service. The host/waiter was really friendly and helpful with menu suggestions, but when our first order came, we got sushi we didn't order. No problem -- we were a bottle of hot sake in, so we accepted the wrong order cheerfully. Here's my personal opinion on the food: boring salad, complicated & yet somewhat bland sushi. The special rolls that sounded spicy (jalapenos, etc.) were still mild. We decided to build our own and came up with something we really loved. Our roll included Enso's spicy mayo and it is AWESOME. Order extra."

"I am typically very picky when it comes to sushi. I thought the rolls were fresh and the pieces were the perfect size. There are a ton of options to choose from. If you like creative rolls with sauces and interesting ingredients this place is great. The vegtable dragon is awesome as well. The cocktail list is unique and the two I tried were great. In the scale of sushi restaurants in the city this place is reasonably priced and the sushi is good not amazing. It is a good addition to the neighborhood. Walking by I had initially thought it looked like a night club or maybe they were trying too hard but that is not at all the case. It is a little dark and cozy inside but not at all pretentious. Wait staff was super friendly and helpful."

"Great for vegetarians - the make your own maki offered more options than the usual cucumber/avocado rolls at other nice sushi joints. The cocktails were good as well. We'll be back!"

"I'm not a sushi connoisseur, but I eat a lot of average maki sushi where it can come with tempura, spicy mayo, etc. That's how I would describe the sushi here, average. As every other review says, the place allows for echoes of everyone's conversations to travel to other tables. At first its a bit distracting but not bad once you've been trhere a while. I think it's good to know this detail in advance, just so you know what you're in for. I had a good time there. The waitress was good, never kept is waiting to long. Overall, it was a good experience for me."

"I came here twice in the last 2 months and I must say that their vegetarian options are really awesome. Their Make-A-Maki is really great if you want to try something new. Dessert-wise there is a chocolate mousse creation that is AMAZING called "I'll Have What She's Having". I will most DEFINITELY be dining here again!"

"Enso has quickly become my go-to sushi place in Chicago. Other than the uber friendly service, and the excellent management, the "make your own maki" is a great idea!"
