"I have dined here on quite a few occasions and always impressed by ambiance, service and food, however, on this rare occasion, the entire dining experience was not up to par.
Food was the poorest this time around, and service was ok but you could feel the waiter wasn't all that interested in accommodating. Ambiance was still lovely as always.
Overall I was not impressed and I had raved about La Maquette to my daughter and this being her first occasion there was not a good experience unfortunately."

"This is definitely the place to be for a romantic occasion. I loved the ambience of he restaurant. They had an undoubtedly romantic setting, as weddings are also apart of their specialty. They paired the romantic setting with live music that was soft and soothing, which gave the restaurant that extra mile. For food, I tried their prix fixe dinner menu; I thought it was standard (nothing surprising came up in my mind in terms of taste), but they can definitely do better in terms of their portions. Service was on par, but a bit more attention would give our table more satisfaction."

"Wonderful lunch experience. Outside dining facing the sculpture garden on King Street. Took advantage of the $20 lunch special with 3 courses.....beautiful presentation and unique tastes. Easy to make reservation with Open Table on the same day and our request for an outside table was acknowledged. Can't wait to go back for an evening."

"What a treat to dine at La Maquette! The entire staff made us feel welcome. They were very polite, courteous, attentive and accommodating. The ambience is perfect for two, for a group, for an anniversary, for a wedding -- you name it -- it is simply perfect. The food was mouth-wateringly delicious and savory, with generous portions! Ange is such a gracious and kind host - taking time to visit our table to see if everything was okay - and even agreed to take photos with our group. We had a most delightful and memorable Birthday celebration (a plus was having Happy Birthday played - as well as written on the dessert tray). We will definitely be back. Thank you so much!"

"This was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. It is a little pricey but the value was in the quality. The wild mushroom strudel, mussels in curry cream sauce, duck and especially the arctic char were all excellent though the duck may have been a little overdone. even the sides were perfect and the chocolate eruption was a fantastic ending.
Definitely worth a return visit. Probably the first coupon meal that was really worthwhile."

"Our dining experience at La Maquette was absolutely amazing. The service was very attentive and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. We had dinner in the solarium upstairs and it was very romantic. We had a baked camembert to start. I had a seafood linguini as a main and my fiance had the two lobster tails. We finished with an apple crumble dessert. Everything was purely delicious and seasoned to perfection. We're really glad to have tried this restaurant out and would recommend it for couples and special occasions."

"I was not impressed with the service, from entry to exit. There was a chance to give us a table with a view, but instead they shuffled us into a dark corner. Our table had no candle, and the waiter was brusque. He served my soup in a cold bowl, and it was congealing at the table. The busser reached across my lap mid-bite to retreive a glass, which I thought was rude. He didn't even apologise for interrupting me.
I chose La Maquete because it was reccommended to me by family friends, and they were quite generous with their compliments. I found the reality underwhelming.

"The food overall was satisfying and enjoyable. The restaurant seemed to be understaffed even though it was a Valentines Night and there seemed to be a full house. The lobster bisque had a lot of flavour and was topped with small chunks of lobster. Very delicious. Our main courses, we had a fish, the arctic char, and a steak dish, were all superbly done. The fish flaked off the fork and was not dry and the medium rare steak was juicy and easy to cut. The desserts were okay, but the lava cake seemed previously frozen and was hard in the middle instead of soft and gooey, but still had the lovely dark chocolate taste.
I believe if we went again, it would be during a less busy night and we would only order appetizers and an entree."

"The live music was fantastic. We went on a Wednesday and maybe five other couples were dinning. It looked dead, I wasn't even sure if they were open from the outside. The hostess was out to lunch and looked unprofessional. When we arrived there were only two other couples dinning upstairs and she wanted to put us in the corner right beside one of them. The foiegras was terrible(one of the worst apps i have ever ordered) but the calamari were very good(but what isn't fried). My lamb was also pretty good and my girlfriends steak was just ok. It was very romantic place but that isn't enough for me to go back. Maybe I just went on a off night."

"Went for Winterlicious. The restaurant extended the special until Feb. 28, which is nice. The lobster was very tasty, and the Zambuca cream sauce and rice was good, too. But I found the vegetables not cooked enough. They were very crisp. I'd go back, except I think I'd prefer to sit upstairs with the nice view of the church. Downstairs I found the tables were a little close together, so not much privacy and not much room to get our of the chair. Also, this isn't the restaurant fault but I found people around us could not get off their cellphones. So busy texting and Instagramming photos of their lobster. Kind of ruined the ambiance."

"Ahhh what a romantic lovely place! I'm in love with the ambiance and overall feel of this place, I love the fact that the tables are thoughtfully spaced out and not cluttered in rows making you feel like you are in post apocalyptic cantine. The food was really good, both appetizer and entree were fabulous, I finally had a decent lobster bisque! However my only complaint would be the fact that restaurant clearly doesn't have a pastry chef and desserts are brought from outside...and pretty recognizable mass produced vendor too. But I will still be back, coz the place is just so nice and in summer the most snug and romantic patio will be open too! Can't wait )))"

"My daughter invited me to La Maquette for a birthday lunch and neither of us had been there before. The food was terrific, the staff was attentive and charming while the ambiance elegant and relaxing. We did not realize that the lunch was served on the airy second floor which enjoys a bright terrarium type sun room. The colourful decor offset the winter grey and we were transported to France for a couple hours. The 'birthday size' glass of wine added value and good will to our visit. Looking forward to a return soon."

"La Maquette offered excellent value for the price. The duck dish was abundant and the main course was very tasty. The wine selection (glass) was quite broad. On the other hand, the bisque was served cold and my friend thought it was very salty. It was subsequently substituted for a house salad to her satisfaction. The desert was good. During the soiree, a lone musician played his guitar and added a lot of softness to the gastronomic experience. I would return without hesitation."

"The meal was delicious - nice treat for Winterlicious. The restaurant did not skimp just because of Winterlicious! Wonderful service - they accomodated us despite the fact we were 45 minutes late for our reservation. Lovely positive attitudes! Thank you for making my husband's birthday so great!"

"I had the winterlicious experience recently and was disappointed abit with the food. The lobster soup and venison was good but the dessert left me somewhat disappointed. I had high expectations and left wondering if their restaurant would be best experienced in warmer weather as they would take advantage of the wonderful patio they have. Also I found the lighting abit too dark for my taste."

"AMAZING FOOD! We had a question and they actually had the chef come out and talk to us which was great. It was a group of 7 ladies for Winterlicious 2013 on a Monday night.
Our server was not welcoming, did not greet us, interrupted us and it took quite long to get water. We got our wine before our water. This was a low part of the night - the service. The food was amazing and that's what really matters."

"My wife and I were very hesitant at first because of some of the reviews that we had read on line but decided to give the restaurant a try anyways. We were very glad we did because the meal we had at La Maquette was the best meal we have had in a long time. The atmosphere was great and the service was excellent...thank you La Maquette for a great evening!"

"They need to work on their vegetarian and vegan offerings. My husbands lobster tails were excellent. My Lobster bisque was also very good, but I made the mistake of ordering the vegan mushroom risotto which was bland and dry. I did not eat it. Overall the experience was very good."

"It is good value for food and service.We went with groupon and winterlicious treats and even for regular price, we'll go for special occasions.The guiter playing is good too.Upstairs or downstairs are both good in ambience.In summer, we'll try the outdoor.
