"My husband and I took another couple to this restaurant -- all I can say is everyone was very pleased with their meals --- it was just delicious. This is a small restaurant so make sure you make reservations. They do have some outdoor tables. Their soups are delicious as well as the entrees. I can't speak for dessert because we were too full to order dessert!"

"The halibut with sundried tomato crust was very good. However, the lemon sauce that is served on many dishes, including the halibut, was overpowering. The potatoe slices were undercooked and would have been more flavorful and interesting if sautéed. When I mentioned the overpowering lemon in the sauce, the waiter made a comment that led me to believe others had expressed the same opinion. I hope that the next time I dine here, the sauce and potatoes have been improved."

"We love eating here...the place is fun, the food is really exceptional and the service is the best in Sarasota County! The wait staff is so well trained but they not only know the menu and wines (Nick!!!!) inside out, they really enjoy what they are doing....the menu is very extensive so there is something for everyone! We would love to order one of everything most nights...and the specials are always incredible. Order anything with polenta, best we've had since we were in Tuscany! You never feel rushed and the place is so comfortable that you don't want to leave! We ate here this week and are returning again this weekend...highly recommend Cassariano if you want quality food, wine, great service, and a wonderful evening on Venice Island!"

"We went for lunch. I should have ordered the eggplant but instead opted for a soup and salad combo. The pasta fagioli was gummy and mediocre. The spinach salad the same, the dressing (oil and vinegar) uninspired. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place for lunch."

"This was my third visit to this restaurant. I loved it the first two times when I was there on dates on Saturday nights during Season; service was fantastic, atmosphere was great, had a 'real Italian restuarant' feel to it. The host was friendly and energetic and seemed to have a vested interest in his position there. This time, on a Monday night during off Season, my experience was quite different. There was a different Hostess who was fine but definitely didn't have the same energy as the one I experienced prior. Wait staff was o.k. but not 'helpful' and person bussing tables didn't understand English (and I am pretty sure he wasn't Italian). The place just didn't feel the same and one entree wasn't as hot as it shouold have been."

"1) my table reservation made the evening before was specific : I asked for the table for 4 inside, immediately beside the window for twelve o'clock - lunch time. When we arrived at 11:50, that table was already occupied by people ordering their lunch !
2) There was not enough shrimps or cheese ( 3 oz. of proteins needed at least for a man and 2 oz. for a woman ) in each of the meals ordered. The meal was to costly for what it contain ...
3) Service was just OK : the waiters do not seem to like their job there. No smile.
The first time, we where there, I gave them the benefit of the doubt for the service. Since, it was the second time, I concluded that this kind of behavior was the norm, so we will go somewhere else, next time."

"Cassariano's in Venice Island was fabulous! I only wish we had found this gem earlier on our vacation. Glad they'll be enlarging and moving just a few doors down. We frequent Federal Hill in Providence, RI for good Italian food, and Cassariano's in Venice Island is just as good, if not better! Enjoy!"

"We go here as "regulars." The owners are always interesting to talk to if they have time.

"This place deserves its high praise. The food is terrific. One of the specials was lentil and sausage soup. If they have that when you go, just order it. It's ridiculously good. Everything we had was excellent. Fairly priced too given the quality. Some of the presentations are a little passe... they like to stack things up on the plate... but easily overlooked given how great the chow is. Casual dining at its finest."

"I had the Veal Chop which had the best blue cheese sauce I've ever tasted. Two others in our party had the shrimp special which they said was excellent. The owner acknowledged our request for gluten free choices on the menu. He even had the chef cook the gluten free pasta that my sister brought with her. Everyone went out of their way to make our little dinner party a success. We wouldn't hesitate to come back again."

"We've been three times over five years and had a different dish each time. Whether we had beef, lamb, pork or fish, every dish was exceptionally good. If you go though, go hungry, the portions are generous."

"While waiting for my date, the staff was very solicitous. I had a good Caesar salad with polenta croutons. In Sarasota, though, I had polenta croutons that had been sauteed, and the crusty, crunchy polenta was far better than the mushy cubes here. My eggplant ravioli was good but on the bland side. My date liked his seafood pasta very much.
My big disappointment was the tiramisu. A very good restaurant should have that nailed. This tasted mainly of whipped cream, not cheese, with chocolate sauce drizzled atop. I detected no liqueur at all, and the ladyfingers were tasteless. I recommend the pastry chef go back to the drawing board on this one."
