"We love it here. We got engaged after having dinner here in October '13 and decided to make it a place we come more often. It's always consistently good and when the waiters find out what kind of meat you like they'll make sure to always stop by with those cuts!!! YUM!"

"Terrible location!!! The restaurant is located in a horrible building in Penn Hills and the restaurant is also horrible inside too. The people that attend the place are also very low end and the salad bar is a mix of old sushi, cold vegetables, and oyster bar (?!!!)... Not nice at all. The tables and chairs are from the 70´s (the retro look is not intentional)... Good meat, but not worth it... If you want to pay a 60 dollar bill (40 dollars plus drinks) you can go to a great steak house down town Pittsburgh and enjoy a much, much better atmosphere..."

"We had an incredible expierence as a first-timer. We enjoyed every single part of our visit and our waitress and carver (robert). Made our experience as a family so much more meaningful. Although we would love to become regular customers - our budget does not allow the 5 of us to do so - BUT - each of us will be sure to recommend it as first choice if every asked by someone. And we will definatly make it a yearly ( or when able to) event. We also greatly appriciated the kind gift card we were presented with. Our only dissappointment wAs when we saw that simple drinks were almost $6.00 each. But if that is my only issue it is way way worth it. Well thank you to everyone for the enjoyable experience."

"We go to the Green Forest a few times a year usually for a special occasion such as birthday's or visitors in town but our most recent visit was simply because it was time to go back! It is more fun with a group of people especially taking someone who has never been but since the food and experience is so excellent we will go anytime! I highly recommend this restaraunt to any meat lover!"

"Took my husband here to celebrate his birthday on a Wednesday evening. Unfortunately there were only a few other tables seated in a rather large dining space. The decor was rather outdated. Meat selection was plentiful and tasted fantastic. Salad bar was decent. Loved the cheese selection and the mushroom risotto. Overall, my experience fell short of my expectations. I've previously patronized similar concepts and found them to be much more impressive- food quality and electric atmosphere. I'm sure this place has more to offer on a weekend night. I'll recommend to others."

"Even though we got stuck in closed-Squirrel-Hill-Tunnel traffic (2 hours!), the food was fantastic. One person in our party commented that the food was so good, he forgot about the traffic nightmare within 5 minutes. And even though people usually choose this restaurant because of the fantastic grilled meat, the seafood and salad buffet was so good that 2 people in our party didn't even eat the meat! I recommend bringing a warm sweater - they keep the temperature cool to compensate for the hot grill - we were all freezing."

"You will not go away hungry. The owner greeted us at the door and seated us promptly. The side dishes that you are able to help yourself to are fantastic. The seafood and the sushi were so fresh as were the cheeses, olives, breads, etc. Then the meat... so full of flavor and so fresh! The gentlemen who were serving the meats were so kind as to find us a medium slice of the beef and remembered that when they came around again. It is truly a dining experience instead of just dinner out."

"This was the first time my husband and I went to the Green Forest and we were both extremely pleased with everything about the restaurant. I had to phone at the last minute to ask for a change in our reservations and I was told that was no problem at all. Everything was perfect, the staff, the food was beyond perfect. The buffet tables were filled with a wide variety of different foods, everything from grilled egg plant to shrimp and the cheese table was simple but very elegant with fine cheeses laid out along side prosciutto and breads."

"For a restaurant whose reputation is for the freshly grilled meats (delicious by the way) the "salad" bar and hot food area were definitely a cut above. Management staff and the server went the extra mile to accommodate our use of a discount, much appreciated, so our family could sit together. Highly recommend the full meal for meat lovers, with the "salad" (and cold seafood) bar for everyone else."

"If you choose salad bar & hot food only for a lesser price, the food is way more than adequate: Sushi, smoked salmon, oysters & shrimp, several grilled vegetables and more. I had very little from the hot food/soup because I was saving my appetite for the parade of meats! That's the problem with the salad/hot foods only option...you have to watch all the juicy, delicious meats going by. I was hard pressed to pick a favorite from all the varieties of beef cuts/preparations; lamb was also good, pork and turkey were a bit overcooked. Come with an empty stomach & hearty appetite. It's impossible not to overeat. From hostess to wait staff, service is excellent and friendly but not intrusive."

"I've been going to Green Forest for some years now. When I moved to Pittsburgh, I was surprised to find this hidden gem. I was also surprised to find a Churrascaria in Pittsburgh. I've come to know Oswaldo and Flavia (owners) over the years. They are great people who are both humble and friendly to all who walk through the doors. They also are particularly selective in their hiring, and Flavia pays the utmost attention to detail, ensuring that her servers are on top of their game each day. Oswaldo takes pride in the quality of meat that he selects, which is far better quality than the more expensive chain Churrascarias (Texas de Brazil is coming to Pittsburgh...don't waste your money!). Green Forest is worth the short drive to Penn Hills."

"The Green Forest does a fair job for a Brazillian BBQ in Pittsburgh. I thought the staff for the most part were plesant and cordial.The atmosphere could be updated though. Overall we had a fun time exploring all the different selections that were offered to us. It was a bit beef heavy with only 2 pork options(one being the saltiest bacon I have ever tasted) and just the standard chicken and turkey for the poultry options plus a sausage and 1 type of fish."

"This is only the third Brazilian barbeque style restaurant that we have been to. The first two were at a resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and a very high end restaurant in San Antonio, TX. I can say that Green Forest was far and away the best of the three. The food was fantastic.
The buffet bar was full of quality options like shrimp, crab legs, prosciutto, soups, salads, good breads, vegetables, and more. The various meats they served for main course were fantastic and their rubs and excellent and flavorful."

"Green Forest is a great place for meat eaters but has an abundant buffet for those who don't care as much for grilled meats. (I've never met such a person but I am sure that they exist.) Make sure that you save room for the grilled pineapple. They don't serve it on Fridays or Saturdays, so plan your visit accordingly. (Although one time when I dined on a Saturday, the server granted my special request for it. An example of great service."

"This place is pricey, so don't bother if you're the "light fare" type. Vegetarians/vegans would want to avoid this place, as well - it's all about meat. Go there hungry and prepare yourself to indulge. My personal favorite - the lamb chops. OMG - to die for! The service is fantastic - they actually *care* that you are pleased. If you have the funds, do give this place a go. It's worth every dime."

"This it the first time we'd ever been here so here goes: it was cold throughout the whole restaurant, so the food got cold very quickly. The food was ok, my husband enjoyed it more than I did, possibly because I wasn't able to eat the various meat cuts quickly enough to enjoy them warm & tender. I thought most items were not prepared well (overcooked, undercooked, over seasoned), but in general they were alright. I feel like the "wow" factor was worth it for a special occasion but the price plus the preparation of all the buffet & spit-cooked items made it less than great. I would have given it only 3 stars overall but my husband had a great time & this was for his enjoyment anyway."

"My wife and I had heard rave reviews of this restaurant and decided to try it. We were not disappointed. From the moment we entered the building, we were treated like royalty. The Hostess was very friendly and very personal. Our waitress was excellent and all the servers we extremely courteous. The food was unbelievable. (I am a food snob and I could not find any of the dishes that I did not enjoy). If you want a great dining experience, this is the place for you. I will warn you that you will want to make reservations. By the crowd that was present, the secret is out!"

"We absolutely loved our experience at Green Forest. This was our second trip there. Both times we left full of giggles and food. It is amazing how quickly the selections come around. We had excellent service from our waitress'both times. Our favorite choices were the beef with the chimichurri sauce and the one with the Parmesan crust. Parmesan is a salty cheese so be prepared if you are not a salt person. We also loved the lamb selections and the sausage. Dessert was phenomenonal. We had the passion fruit mousse. We are addicted to it. It is the perfect palate cleansing choice. It is light and airy and both sweet and slightly tart. It is a must have."

"The cold buffet was amazing. Fresh sushi, pasta salads, Italian meats and cheeses... The meat... Incredible. Everything is cooked perfectly to a nice medium rare ( they will cook more if you ask but don't do that to great meat!)
