Campania Cafe
Campania Italian Café & Trattoria features authentic Italian cuisine in a casual elegant dining atmosphere. The dining room setting is warm & inviting with rustic brick walls and the original Ice House Hoist is displayed under exposed beams. Lunch is served daily, Monday through Friday, offering panini sandwiches, fresh salads, homemade soups, pasta dishes and daily specials.
Dinner is served beginning at 5pm in the dining room. The trattoria seasonal dinner menu includes appetizers, authentic pasta dishes and veal & chicken entrees, as well as excellent seafood specials. Bakery goods, Italian cakes, cookies and pastries, and espresso bar are available. The dining room can host large parties and private events. Catering is also available off site or carry out. Campania is proud to be a part of Davidson’s South Main Street Arts district, located in the well-known “Ice House”, the former site of the historical Davidson Ice & Fuel Plant.

"The service was good but it took more than 45 minutes to get our food. That's too long. We also had a reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, as tables were not turning over - probably because the kitchen was SOOOOO slow."

"We went on Tuesday during restaurant week. Campania seems to be very challenged by having more than a handful of guests. We were there several months ago on a Saturday night. It was a very similar experience. They ran out of several items. I ordered lobster ravioli. It had no evidence of any lobster or lobster flavor. The sauce was glutinous as if it had been sitting on the plate for some time before being served. My husband had spaghetti pomodoro w/meatballs He said it was just average. The best part of the meal was the calamari."

"I went with a group of 10 people to have dinner on a saturday night. The waiter was very nice but not as attentive as he should have been. I think he was a little overwhelmed with our big group. Everyone ordered drinks and 3 people spilled them and broke their glass because they sat it on the crack where the tables were joined together. The food was well prepared and tasted good. I got the chicken stuffed with goat cheese and spinach. I had the grilled romain salad to start and it was great! Overall, it was a fun night even with all of the broken glasses and flustered waiter. I would go back but with less people."

"This was our first visit to Campania Café and it will not be our last. As we are relatively new to the Davidson area, we are trying all local restaurants. Campania is on our re-do list and is already our favorite. Being Italian from New Jersey, I search in vain for good tomato sauce down here in the South. I found it here. Campania Café is a warm, welcoming and romantic setting. And the waitress we had, Elisa (not sure about the spelling) was outstanding."

"Started so well! Wine, atmosphere and calamari were great. But, we ordered chicken parm and crab pasta and couldn't eat it. The chicken was really tough and gristly and the crab dish was fishy. The pasta was not al dente, it was just plain under-cooked. Dessert and coffee were fine, but that's when our server got very busy and left us waiting for our check for 30 minutes. Bummer of a birthday date night. Maybe it was just jitters, as this was the debut of the Spring menu, but we are not new fans."

"We love Campania. This was about our sixth visit and we've always had a great experience. Campania's olive oil is the most delicious olive oil I've ever tasted in this country. The restaurant does not look like a fine dining restaurant on the exterior, but the ambiance is warm and welcoming...very cozy. The staff are friendly and sensitive to customer needs. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"We went here for our first and only visit during Restaurant week. Their wines (we tried 4) were all so terrible. You know it's terrible when you leave the restaurant and your whole glass is empty. The server was great and the setup was cute. I had very high expectations as we really need a quality Italian restaurant in LKN. Unfortunately, I would have way preferred the Olive Garden or even Fuel Pizza. The food was not flavorful, my fish was very overcooked and tough, and the salad was underwhelming. I didn't think the offerings were really that of an Italian restaurant, but still had high hopes. Great people, just terrible wine and below average food."

"We went there for Valentine's Day. We had an early reservation and the place was not full when we arrived yet they seated us right next to the kitchen. This was a constant source of distraction. Our server was great. Very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was so-so and was very expensive. It was supposed to include wine but since we don't drink wine and just had water I assumed that they might reduce our bill slightly. Nope. The night set us back about $90 with the tip and I won't make that mistake again. I've been here frequently for lunch and other dinners and have had much better experiences. I would recommend it normally."

"Campania never lets us down. We introduced our friends to Campania this weekend and they liked it as much as we do. Being from New Jersey I can attest to the food being the closest in flavor to what I'm used to. Having good Italian food so close to home in NC is a delight. I must add that we waited about a 1/2 hr for our reservation and enjoyed a bottle of wine that we brought while we waited which wasn't so bad. The restaurant owner couldn't have handled our wait better. She gave us a discount on our entire bill and did not charge us for drinks. We will definitely be returning to Campania in the near future."

"Going for resturant week the place was packed and though you could hear the others it wasn't as loud as you would think. The service was very good and even with a full house we didn't have to wait long for our courses and they were spaced well and we never felt rushed. The building was the old ice house so there is some history to the place with added to the ambiance and provided decore pieces to look at and discuss.
Overall we had an outstanding experience with some excellent food and will certainly be going back."

"We liked the calamari, grilled salmon, eggplant parm, grilled romaine (especially), strip steak, spinach salad. Pasta side only so-so. Tiramisu good, flourless choc cake gummy. We came for Restaurant Week, and will return even at higher prices. Excellent service, nice place."

"The only dig on the service had nothing to do with our server. She was great. However, we reserved 2 weeks in advance, knowing that Restaurant Week in Charlotte would be busy. It took about 25 minutes to be seated, even though we were right on time with our 7pm reservation. I feel sorry for the people who had reservations after us. Next year, plan for people to be in their seats longer so guests with reservations aren't left waiting."

"We were prompted to go back after we had a less than satisfactory New Years Eve experience & the owner was kind enough to give us a $25 gift certificate to use. Unfortunately this was not much better.Due to resturant week here in CLT, they had only a fixed/restaurant week menu. It would have been nice if that had been disclosed somewhere, as we still missed out on dishes we wanted to try.The servers, by the way, are excellent. In addition, the menu was unclear as to what you could choose from for each course, that a glass of wine was included etc. It made the ordering process frustrating for us, as well as for the server, I am sure. Pasta we recv'd was cold & just as the time before we felt rushed through our meal.The problem is the kitchen"
