James Beard Best Chef Southeast, Louis Osteen’s upscale renditions of Lowcountry classics and the piquant pleasures of his food are on display in a menu of scrumptious, impeccably-prepared, regional dishes. The area’s rich culinary heritage and its amalgam of African, Caribbean and European flavors are reflected in dishes that include: SC’s finest She Crab Soup, Grilled Scallops with Shrimp Hash.
"I had heard a number of great things about Louis and most of the food did not disappoint! The Angels on Horseback (oyster wrapped in bacon on toast) was outstanding as was the Lobster Pot Pie. The "Southern Pate" (pimento cheese of course!) was another wonderful find. They have an extremely impressive wine list, better than I have seen in many upscale restaurants and very reasonably priced. They also have a very well stocked bar with some hard to find bourbons. No problem with the service at all. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars was a disappointing Shrimp and Grits (too salty, the grits were lost in the cream sauce) and standard shoestring fries (I expected better then that). Overall, would go back without a second thought."

"Grilled scallops over shrimp hash was well executed but slightly greasy, needed a green vegetable to counter the fried potatoes and mustard butter. Highly recommend outdoor seating, which shows signs of recent expansion. Mostly empty at 6:30 on a weeknight. Waitress was attentive."

"We have been a fan of Louis's for decades but had not eaten at his latest establishment. We dined with a group of 10 adults. Service was quick......in fact rushed. (I was acutely aware that they probably planned to use our table again that evening ! (We had 7:30 dinner reservations). We are accustomed to eating in France and fine dining venues in the Charleston area.........and don't like to feel rushed through our meal. The food in general was good but not to die for. But Louis's crabcakes are still OUTSTANDING, and knowing how good they have been in the past, I ordered a double order from their starter list to eat as my main course. I was not disappointed. I will probably return to Louis's in the future.......for his crabcakes."

"Overall a good experience. A bit disappointed in the wine list. We recalled Louis in the previous location had a broader selection. The she crab soup, however, was off the charts!"

"Dinner was simple, but excellent, as you would expect from Louis Osteen. Delicious shaved brussels sprout salad, flounder done to perfection, and good unobtrusive service. What more could you ask for? We will definitely return whenever we are in the area."

"Was looking forward to a great experience but we were disappointed. The food tasted good but was nothing special. The entrees me and my Wife had we're both overpriced, too small, and both lacked any vegetables Whatsoever. Felt like an overpriced appetizer. We had to go eat a second Supper to fill up."

"We'd eaten Louis Osteen's food at his old Pawley's Island restaurant and we were glad to see him back in business where he belongs. Four of us went for Sunday lunch and had a variety of appetizers, entrees, and desserts, which we all shared. All of the food was terrific, but the fried chicken deserves special mention. Our waitress was attentive, knowledgeable, and good-humored. I wish we lived nearer so we could go more often, but we'll certainly be there every time we're anywhere near Myrtle Beach."
