Bistro @ Chamard
Established in 1983, Chamard Vineyards, is one of the Connecticut Wine Trails founding fathers. Tucked between the Long Island Sound and the Connecticut River, Chamard enjoys a unique marine micro-climate ideal for growing European Vinifera vines such as Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Pinot Noir. To produce “French Inspired Wines from the Connecticut Shoreline” has been Chamards mission from the start. As a farm, Chamard honors agriculture by partnering with fellow growers and producers to pair food with wine in celebration of Connecticut’s local gastronomy.

"Our daughter's wedding was held at Chamard in the fall of 2012. The venue was perfect for this couple who had just returned to their home state of Connecticut after living in San Francisco. The ceremony was held on the lawn surrounded by the rows of vines, the cocktail hour was enjoyed in the barn area and the reception was held under a tent behind the main building. The photographer took advantage of every breathtaking view, making it hard to believe that this little bit of heaven is just a few miles from our home. As a member of the "Wine Lovers Club" and a huge fan of The Bistro, Chamard has become a destination for our family and friends."

"I took my mom here for a Mother's Day brunch, and it was FANTASTIC! The food was outstanding, the setting was beautiful, and the chef had beautiful potted herbs on the table for all the moms! It was just delightful! :)"

"Made a reservation for 8, but then had to change it to 9. The bistor staff was accomodating and very on top of things. Our wine, appetizers, and lunch were all right on target. We were in a back room area which was spacial and perfect for talking and dinning together. The ambience was lovely and truly unexpected. I had been to the winery a few years ago and it was very small. They have made tremendous changes and it is all good. I would recommend this place over and over again."

"I went to dinner as my friend heard great reviews about your new restaurant - I tried calling many times to make a reservation no one EVER answered the phone during your working hours. I made a reservation on line got there was the only one in the whole restaurant very odd. Another group of two arrived..

"Our wait staff was so energetic - they made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable.
The food was delicious...we had the cheese board...loved 4 out of 5 cheeses, the burger was yummy, the steak sandwich needs an Au Ju to dip into too :)

Loved the wine selection...the reds especially!!!
We ordered each of the desserts for our table...we needed to try all of them. We agree, the cheesecake with the raspberry mousse topping was delectable!!!

"Overall, our experience was good. The food was very good, although my particular main dish probably sat for a while before being delivered; it was cold. The drinks were excellent and the plating was beautiful for all dishes. Liked the farmhouse-style of table setting. We were one of the first brunch reservations-11 am. The longer we sat, however, the more we realized our server hadn't given us all the info the other waiters were giving their guests (for example, we didn't know there was a mimosa available for brunch that day). We also had to flag another waiter after we finished our main dishes and waited over a 1/2 hour for someone to clear them. We had planned on having dessert, but didn't have the time due to the very long wait."

"The Chamard Bistro was wonderful. We had such a good time. It was almost like being in Mendosa. The food was great and the portions ample. The first wine we ordered was not all that great, a very light bodied cabernet. Our waitress was able to change this for us to a cabernet more to our liking without any problem or additional cost.
I would love to go back again on a mild summer evening and sit outside on the deck overlooking the lake."

"The night would have been perfect if it were not for a lagre group of young women that were very loud and obnoxious. Although they were literally all the way at the end from us, they were so loud that at times, I could not hear my husband speaking to me!Our server apologized to us, but the way the dining room is set up is not at all sound absorbing or condusive to large parties. They do have a private room for large parties and that was taken."

"Did a wine tasting first and then enjoyed an excellent lunch. My wife loves olives and there was a perfect appetizer serving for her while I went for the pommes de terre which were really good. I choose the cheese platter which was excellent as I love Cato Corner cheeses and my wife had an excellent grilled cheese sandwich on a grain bread which included a very nice side salad. Texted friends while we were still there that it is a must."

"Went for a wine tasting and dinner. The wine tasting was fun, I got to try 4 white and 1 red wine. However, the bistro was awesome! My waiter Mario was great. He was very attentive and informative. I had the lamb and it was cooked just right. The seating is very nice. There is a variety of open network type seating, and regular restaurant tables along the wall. There is also seating by the fireplace. All seating has a nice view of the vineyards. The location of the vineyard isn't very far from I95 and there was enough parking. The lot isn't paved so I had to walk on my toes so my heels wouldn't sink."
