"St. Arnold's is in our neighborhood, so we have been there for dinner several times. We have never been disappointed. The food is great and the atmosphere is friendly. My husband even asked to go there for his birthday, which is why I checked it as good for "special occasions" for those who enjoy a casual dining atmosphere. Noise level is somewhere between "moderate" and "energetic," and there appears to be a good turnout for happy hour on the weekdays."

Review 2 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"Enjoyed the house special preparation of mussels, brought to table still bubbling. Mussels were consistently tender, plump and fresh. Fries were accompanied by ketchup and seasoned mayo, a nice touch. BUT noise level upstairs made conversation impossible and downstairs, blaring music was almost equally deafening."

Review 3 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"We were drawn here by Open Table's description of its being a "neighborhood gem" and by reviews of good food. Of the four of us, one enjoyed the mussels and another liked the house specialty, a Hungarian stew with chicken and vegetables in a rich cream sauce. The other two of us ordered several appetizers and salads, none of which were special. A beet/orange/goat cheese salad appeared as a mound of lettuce in which there were very small pieces of the 3 "featured" ingredients hidden within. They had a variety of good beer selections. The restaurant has an informal feeling of a tavern that specializes in beer and mussels. Go for that and you are likely to enjoy it more than we did. Service was prompt and helpful."

Review 4 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"We enjoyed St. Arnold's overall. Nice evening, cool breeze, and a place with large windows that opened out onto the street so we felt like we were eating outside. The mussels selections were interesting and there were many varieties to choose from. All came with good, crispy fries and bread for soaking. There are large communal tables as well as smaller tables. Many and varied beer selections. Overall a fun and different experience. I ordered the Thai mussels which were good but not all that special."

Review 5 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"Really nice and efficient waitress. But the noise level is awful. Mussels were tasty but a little gritty. The beer offerings are really good so its a good place to go with a group, not a place to talk."

Review 6 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"Mussels at St. A's are wonderful any day, but on Monday they are only $10.00 (for a big bowl, including frites). They've got over 20 varieties of preparations, ranging from classic to an Old bay/sausage/Corn/Potato broth that sounded weird but worked. New Belgium and Ommegang drafts at half price on Mondays also make this the day to go."

Review 7 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"We had an early reservation and the waiter was good in the beginning. Once it got crowded, we could not get his attention having to ask for the bill a couple of times. We had really wanted to try the Belgian waffle for dessert....lack of attention made it impossible. The food was okay - there are other mussel bars around that are better."

Review 8 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"Living in Cleveland Park we often skip over our neighborhood spots for the more vibrant eateries downtown. Don't. St. Arnold's Mussel Bar is amazing. All the mussel dishes are incredible and the hot wings and beer specials on Monday are great. I've had nearly all the mussel pots and I would highly recommend any if the flavors described match what you're looking for. While the beer selection is great, be careful - it can get pricey when you're ordering refills and not paying attention to how many you've drank! The only aspect of Arnold's I wouldn't recommend is their brunch. The menu is okay at best and the food was very small portions for the price. Stick to the mussels and you can't go wrong!"

"St Arnolds is an unknown gem. Their mussels are amazing. Any way that you like them. Not enough people know about this place. An amazing neighborhood hangout and I don't live in the neighborhood :) Get off of the Metro and St Arnolds is right there.
Their beer selection is amazing. Forget the Bud Lite. They have an amazing selection of beers and incredible Happy Hour prices. We will make this place a weekly date night with my wife :)"

Review 10 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"Had a great time. Server was helpful and always available. GM came and sat with us for a little while and gave some suggestions. Going there with a group was great. The downstairs was a little dark but that was the least noticable after a few great drinks. beer selection was amazing belgian white ale."

Review 11 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"My friend and I had a great bucket of mussels and wonderful Belgian beer at a Friday happy hour here. The scene was very energetic (and so it got hard to hear towards the end - despite the open windows!), and our waitress was extremely helpful and pleasant. Good place to go hang out after work or with a friend on the weekend."

Review 12 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"Really enjoyed the food. Great onion rings and the mussels and frite were excellent. Great selection of Belgian beers as well! The service was attentive. The decor is basically nonexistent, and the place is noisy--the combination of piped-in music and TV and concrete floors, and people makes it hard to hear and speak. We were lucky that the place wasn't too crowded but if it is full it must be deafening."

Review 13 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"Happy Hour and Mondays = $10 mussels (that's 1/2 the regular price)and some drink specials. They pretty much only serve Belgian beers, but they have a large selection. The "cocktails" are unique, basically two beers mixed together (like a black and tan, but better)."

"Casual but fun, the mussels were so big and tasty. Just come for mussels, and a good beer, with plenty to choose from. Uncomfortable seating but still fun and happy hour pricing is a bonus if you order before 7pm.
Lovely staff."

Review 18 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"This establishment is going through an identity crisis. The location has changed hands so many times and I think St Arnold's will be no different. The burger was good, but on an evening, in which I was so hungry, I think anything would have tasted good. It has potential with the garage doors that open, to make it a great spring time open-air establishment, but really I am not jumping to go back. They do also have a basement bar, which was empty, but who wants to be in a basement bar with no windows, on a lovely Spring day."

Review 21 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"Each of us ordered a different mussels dish, and each one was excellent! The wait staff was patient and friendly, as well as funny! The place became very crowded as the night progressed, but it wasn't a bad thing, and the food and drinks were brought out quickly. The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and the beer selection, and willing to help. I plan to go back for Happy Hour when they have 1/2 price mussels!"

Review 22 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"There were 3 of us for dinner and the 2 others had the mussels which were very good with generous helpings. My rabbit stew was a problem. Not the stew itself but there wasn't much of it and it was spread around a big mound of rice even though the stew had chunks of potatoes and other root vegetables as well. The rice was completely unnecessary and took up the plate so there was only room for about 4 small pieces of rabbit back which were good but when you subtracted the bones amounted to very little meat. I wanted an honest stew. I mentioned to the server that next time I would ask for the stew without the rice and she said "but is was good wasn't it?" to which I replied "what I had of it"!"

"St. Arnold's is that hidden neighborhood gem. Their Monday Mussel special is fantastic. You can enjoy an entire pot of mussels AND a beer for under $15. You can even share a mussel pot and salad and be perfectly satisfied. I can't wait to have the doors open because the indoor/outdoor seating is pretty cool."

Review 24 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"The first floor is nice and trendy, but unfortunately my group was seated downstairs, which looked not-so-nice. Beers are great, but pricey ($10+) and the burger was pretty good ($11). One person at the table had the mussels and didn't think they were great. Not the place to take an out of town guest or group. I would go to another neighborhood bar in the future for a less expensive beer and a burger."

Review 27 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"So the hostess tells us we can sit between a bunch of people, wait really log for our own table or sit downstairs if we're willing to deal with a band starting in an hour. We sit downstairs (in the near dark) and get told by the waiter that they only serve for a short time longer. Feeling rushed, we over order, but the mussels were HUGE and the fries were delicious. We will go again, but it will have to be on a less busy night."

"Great neighborhood restaurant for mussels and beer. Reasonable prices and fantastic mussels. Be warned - hard wooden stools to sit on. But if you want a casual bar with good food and no pretense, sports on TV and a young crowd, this is a great place."

Review 32 for St. Arnold's Mussel Bar- Cleveland Park
"Great variety of mussel dishes; Mexican was very spicy and Thai was just spicy; both were excellent. Salads were also very good; drinks were well prepared. We have gone to Belga Cafe for mussels for years, but Belga does not have the same variety as St. Arnold's. Mussels were as fresh and good as anywhere else we have eaten them in D.C. It's a lively restaurant - pretty noisy toward the front so we asked to sit toward the back where it was a lot easier to hear each other (that issue also has something to do with age but it was still louder than other places). Regardless, we would absolutely return to try more of the mussel dishes and other appetizers and main courses."
