KaZe
KaZe offers an experience not previously found in Cincinnati. Modeled after the Japanese Izakaya, KaZe is a multi-concept gastro pub that features a contemporary dining room, a cutting edge bar and lounge, and a year round outdoor beer garden. "We were at KaZe celebrating a friend's birthday. It was the first time for all of us. We loved the signature drinks. I think everyone had skewers and sushi but one had an entree. Everyone loved all they ordered. We moved from inside to outside for a nightcap. It is definitely a place we will return to. Fabulous service and the food was outstanding."

"The food was good enough. The sushi is nothing in comparison to places like Miyoshi and Matsuya, but it was still tasty. I found almost everything else to be overly salty. Our server was a robot. She must have been having a bad night because she said about 3 words the whole time and never really smiled. The crowd was about as ridiculously trendy as you can get. We will go back when we can sit on the patio though. I really want to give it another shot."

"I've dined at Kaze before and had an equally awesome experience. Brittany was our server and was super knowledgeable about not only the menu but also the wine. She offered great suggestions and anticipated our needs before we even asked for anything. The dinner service was seamless and very enjoyable. My entire party left satisfied and abuzz with only great things to say. Thank you for the great experience; I'm sure I'll be back time and time again."

"My overall experience at Kaze was really great. Everyone was kind, helpful and attentive. The food was served quickly and was served in a manner that met the eye. Not to mention the food was delicious. I am not a huge sushi lover, but my sushi roll was the best I've ever had. The pork belly appetizer was also amazing..... Kaze is much bigger than I expected, with different areas such as the back bar and the outside patio. Because of the prices compared to the money I make I wouldn't go back every week but I would go back for a special occasion because it is definitely a place that makes you feel special! My only semi negative review was that our server left us alone a little too long between receiving our appetizer and ordering our food."

"I really liked everything I ate. Another cool downtown eatery. Portions are very small. Good for dieters with deep pockets. Once you add up all together the appetizers etc. you are in for a pricey meal. But I liked it and would return."

"Went to KaZe this past weekend and was very happy we did. The drinks were delicious as was the food. The highlight of the food was the sushi and the pork buns. Simply delicious. We also tried 4 out of the 6 specialty drinks and liked every single one. The decor was very well done as my brother the architect noted. He was even taking pictures of different interior design items as ideas for future projects for his firm. I would definitely recommend KaZe to friends."

"Very cool atmosphere. Exactly what you would expect in the ever growing OTR area. Tapas style small plates. Each plate has two pieces of each. Server gladly added a third to match out odd numbered party of three. First dish was brought out wrong with little effort to fix it so one of our dinner mates went without his serving. At $4 per bite, would have liked to have a new one brought out. Yakatori was good. Sushi was good, but not mind blowing.
In the end, with a $90 bill for two and a bit of an urge for a snack, I would go back if invited but would not go out of my way to take someone there."

The portions of sushi and sashimi are minuscule when compared with more authentic Japanes sushi places in the region.

"We shared beef & asparagus yakitori and Kaze salad. Both delicious. I had a beef dish, my husband had chicken so we could enjoy both tastes- really flavorful and just the right portion size. When our server heard us mention that it was our anniversary, she surprised us with an amazing toasted ginger "s'more " for dessert! So nice! We left feeling happy, full but not stuffed. We are so glad Kaze is in the neighborhood ...we definitely will go back!"

"Excellent food! Given that we couldn't get a reservation later than 5:30pm or earlier than 9:30pm, the restaurant was not crowded and there were many empty tables. The back area that they offer as first come first served is actually a great alternative. I would not let the fact that you can't get a reservation deter you."

"This was our first time and KaZe and we absolutely loved it. The food, service, and atmosphere were fantastic. The OTR sushi roll, and pork sliders were some of the best we've ever had. We were celebrating my birthday, and the staff did a great job of making me feel special with birthday wishes and a complimentary dessert (the salted caramel ice cream- which was delicious!)
Our only complaint was our walk to and from the Washington Park garage- we were approached by people off the street asking for money on both our walk to and from the garage to KaZe. One man actually came into the parking garage, asking for a handout. I think a single security guard patrolling the garage could eliminate this issue.

"The restaurant was fine; the food very good, the service excellent. The portions were very small, but not overly priced. The menu is Asian fusion; we thought it was going to be Japanese, it isn't. The crowd is young, noisy, friendly. A fun place; we'll go back again, not frequently since there are many choices but this is worth checking out."

Our server checked in on us every 5 minutes or so, even when we were deep in serious convo. Food came out lightening quick and hot. It was a very enjoyable experience. My girlfriend and I spent 80 on just food and I was hungry about 2 hours later.... Still though, great for a special occasion or light dinner or sushi."

"The Gateway Quarter is full of great restaurants and KaZe certainly qualifies as one of them. Beautiful and delicious sushi prepared with a modern twist was served by extremely knowledgeable and attentive staff. Their Asian take on the key lime pie we had for desert was creative, refreshing and as lovely tasting as it was to behold. We will definitely return!"

"Our waitress basically ordered for us and everything she picked was delicious. They recommend sharing small plates of different courses. The sushi and the skewers were our favorites. We had a great round booth and the ambiance is nice. To go to the women's room, you have to take an elevator downstairs. The elevator is the nicest elevator and it was super fast. We didn't know until our waitress told us, but they ave a bar in the back and a beer garden. It is a pretty cool place! We were there only until 9, although a dj was starting at 10. I would definitely go back."
