Located in a quiet neighborhood above beautiful Poipu Beach, Casa di Amici Restaurant has been preparing our wonderful cuisine for over 23 years. The menu is about 20% classic Italian and the rest is international-ecclectic and very cross cultural cuisine. The use of organic greens and vegetables grown on the island help create a unique dining experience. Chef Randall Yates loves to use rissoto as a component in many dishes with influences from Spain, Thailand, China, Mexico,France,as well as Italy. Off the beaten path, the restaurant has a reputation of being " the hidden gem of Poipu". Join us for grand piano music by Ivo Monroe Miller on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.
"The food was very good but heavily seasoned so be prepared for a very cross culture taste. The paella had a surprising curry taste so one has to adjust psychologically if one is expecting the traditional Spanish Paella taste - not bad, just different. Also, the food was very "rich" - The red wine (Cab.) recommended by the Sommelier/Host was excellent and the pouring was extremely generous. All of the portions were VERY generous. All in all it was a pleasant evening."

"On Saturday evening there is a piano player tinkling in the background...The food is superb. This place is a local favorite that does not need to advertise. I strongly suggest reservations."

"Located in a residential area. Food is excellent and eclectic. Service is superb. Decent wine list but you can buy great wines at the Koloa Wine Shop and they have a deal with Casa Di Amici that they wave the corkage if you buy at the Wine shop. Great local restaurant!"

"Well worth a visit. Our only complaint was that got a call asking to move up our dinner reservation from 8:30 to 8:00, which was OK, thinking that they had over-booked the 8:30 time slot, but when we got there, it seemed pretty obvious that the change was motivated by the staff's desire to leave earlier. That's not a professional reason to change a reservation time. Having said that, the dinner was fine."

"A really cute restaurant, but found the food just average - maybe we ordered the wrong thing. Three of us had the shrimp scampi, which I always assumed to be in a garlic/butter & wine sauce. Ours had green pepper, onions & about two tablespoons of capers - a little distracting to the shrimp which seemed to be place on top, & a little dry. Liguini was cooked perfectly though. May have to give the restaurant another try & order something different."

"The food was good, but limited. I was expecting the usual Italian food, such as Lasagna, spaghetti, but those choices were not available, more on the exotic, garlic shrimp on fettuccine, sauteed salmon, not much on the menu that would appeal to kids, for sure. I has a spicy sausage dish with peppers that was really good and spicy, which I like spicy. The thing I found strange was the red wine was served chilled, almost ice cold. I really don't like cold red wine, and both types of reds I ordered were chilled. I asked the waiter about that and he insisted it should be slightly chilled, but this wasn't slightly, it was like right out of the refrigerator. Bizzare concept to me..."

"We were a party of four adults and three teenager girls. Everyone enjoyed their meals. My daughter and I shared a delicious organic green salad. The dressing was perfect. We then shared an eggplant dish that was good, but the dish to get that night was either the ahi tuna special or the paella. Both of those dishes looked fantastic and tasted terrific.
Make sure you know where you are going, as it is a little bit hidden off the main road."

"Our dinner was outstanding, aside from the 30 minute delay for being seated. Although we had reservations, we had to wait at the bar until seated, ostensibly because "the kitchen was backed up from a 'Spring Break' crowd." However, those with reservations should have preferential treatment, and not have to wait 30 minutes to be seated.
Now to the dinner. We tried something old (veal marsala)and something new (pork saltambucol). Both were superb, each with a fantastic unique sauce, and each included 3 very tasty small side dishes to compement the entrees. Our appetizer was local tomatoes with onions, pesto and melted mozarella, a pleasant surprise. Our desert was Bananas Foster, and was "to die for." Our complements to the chef and sta"

"We've been to Case di Amici several times and return due to the good food and classical atmosphere. Sadly, while every good restaurant in Poipu is expensive, we no longer consider Case di Amici among the best quality of Poipu's expensive restaurants. We'll surely return, but perhaps not soon."

"The dinner was very good and they adapted the menu for personal preferences. However, the server had some difficulty in getting the billing correct. After three tries, the owner came over to offer his help. We finally got the correct bill, but something like this should never have happened. We have been coming to Kauai for many years, but this was our first time at this restaurant. We will return."

"The food was good, but not extraordinary. The attitude of the server, an Asian woman of about 50, was hostile. When I asked, after our meals had been served, if our bread was ready, she hissed "Wait a minute," brought the bread and never returned to our table even to bring the check. I had to go get the check 30 minutes after we had finished eating."

"One of the best meals we had on our 8 day Kauai vacation. Had 8 people, were well taken care of, food wonderful. Been coming here for years, and never disappointed. Much better food and value than Beach House or Roy's nearby."

"This restaurant is a hidden treasure. They don't really advertise, and it's hard to know about it, but is well worth the effort. Their food is wonderful. I had the veal piccata. The veal was perfectly cooked and the piccata sauce was to die for! The sides were a trio of pureed vegetables with wonderful flavors - something I've never had - very unusual. My husband and I started the meal with a ahi sushimi that was perfectly done and the sauce on it was wonderful as well. The only thing that didn't impress me was their tiramisu that we had for dessert. Very average - expected more after the wonderful appetizer and entree. Excellent wine list if you are an Orin Swift afficianado. We will definitely visit again."

"I ordered the filletto and told my husband when it arrived that I may have just ordered the best meal on Kauai. Our server was the right mix of attentive and chill. We sat on the side patio by some bushes. It was a little buggy at 7 pm, but other than that, it was amazing. I highly recommend it."

"Very eclectic menu with something for everyone from Italian to Asian to Greek etc. It is all in the flavors. Beautiful Hawaiian fish with different sauces, also chicken and meat. Will not break your wallet, but entrees can still be $30 for the top one. very friendly staff running around constantly as the restaurant is fabulously busy. We enjoyed our meal very much and would go back there if we lived here."

"Very nice waiter ( but. see below). Did not serve bread prior to dinner, other tables received it. The eggplant in the pasta dish was overlooked and soggy, and the pork risotto had pieces of fat instead of pork mixed in, about 10 Percent of them, very little flavor for noted as " spicey " on the menu. Way overpriced for the quality. Would never go back.
Waiter seemed taken aback when we did not want alcohol or garlic bread ( extra charge )"

"Was diassapointed. Well written up in kauai guidebook. Supposed to be italian but had asian and greek so seemed confused. I agree wih other people murky fiah tank. 2 hostess 2 harried waiters loud with really long explainations and 1bartender. Formica tables. Ok wine list. Food was ok and large portions but not very italian. Just felt weird. Alittle girl came oit to hug waiters legs and i asked if he knew her and he said no but i thinl was his daughter. Bizarre. Would have been more normal and human to acknowlege and introduce her. She was only 3."

"Got unlucky by sitting next to a group of 12 that was very loud. Conversation was difficult. Bad luck I guess. Food was great but the Bananas Foster disappointing in that not prepared table-side.
All guests in our party of four were happy with the entrées and salads."

"Consistent throughout the decades. Owners take great pride in their restaurant. Chef Randall and his wife Joanne have always provided excellent food, atmosphere and service. The food is delicious and there is no rush here to turn over a table, comparable to European dining and service. Their aim is to take great measures to give you a delightful evening dining experience. A well thought out extensive menu, sometimes hard to decide! Servers are knowledgeable, amicable and professional. On Saturday nights, the tinkling of a live pianist entertains the room. This is a must, a hidden gem. One of the best if not the best restaurants on Kauai."

"This may be one of those hidden finds on Kauai, off the beaten track and very good. We thought this was one of our best meals in Kauai, Poipu, food was frankly better than Roys, which has become very disappointing; the service was very attentive and it was very pleasant. Its not an in, hot spot, so the crowd tends to be a little older, but that just meant it was quieter and less frenetic. We all enjoyed our meals and recommend it. And don't be misled by comments that its hard to find, there is decent signage on the road directing you where to turn, etc. We found it quite easily (but i do have a good sense of direction)."

"Our reservation was at 7:15. Arrived on time and ordered drinks. 20 minutes later, we asked our waiter about the drinks. He said they were "coming up" 10 minutes later, he came by again and apologized that he had forgotten to put the order in. They appeared about 5 minutes later. We ordered only main courses and also waited an inexcusable length of time for them - about 45 minutes, with no communication from the wait staff whatsoever. All that said, both our entrees: veal piccata and paella risotto were perfectly cooked and very good."

"Very imaginative and sophisticated menu. My wife had veal picata and I had ahi - both dishes were well prepared with a nice selection of vegetables - mashed potatoes, beets with horseradish, seasoned spinach, and couscous. The tira misou was outstanding, and we had a lovely talk with the owner/chef about its preparation and the general theme of the restaurant. Would definitely come again."

"The Shrimp "Di Amici" was not as described. The "lobster/clam broth" did not come through at all. The main flavor seemed to come from the capers, and could have used a little less tartness. The whole dish lacked focus, with ingredients that were not necessarily beneficial - the bell peppers especially. The shrimp were acceptable, but not noteworthy.
The "Baked Hawaii" was an original dessert that was attractive and enjoyable."

"Fantastic food, exceptional flavors/preparation and excellent presentation. Ambiance so-so with an extremely eclectic mix of overhead music and a view of the parking lot from our table. Soft drinks $5 a pop for refills seemed picky for such an expensive menu. Meeting the chef to discuss favors and recipes was great fun. The food was amazing and the sauces would have put Paris to shame. Meats were cooked to perfection. The chef is truly a well practiced artist that loves what he does. Go here for the food and you will not be sorry."
