"We recently ate dinner with another couple at Van Horne. The restaurant is small accommodating approximately 32 people so its hard to get a reservation. We finally snagged one for a Saturday evening.
We were greeted and offered a tasting menu of five courses. We all opted for this.The first course was a sea urchin and cucumber appetizer. It was ok if you like it raw. Next course was a lobster tail with roasted asparagus which was delicious. Next was a small piece of halibut with some large leaf spinach sautéed which was the best course of the meal. The halibut was cooked to perfection. The main course was fish again, a salty piece of Talbot. Desert was a celeriac ice cream served with small strawberries. OK Meal but too much fish."

"The art was spectacular for a restaurant. Overdid it with the wine. Ordered a glass that turned into two bottles. The bill was a shocker. Anyway, had a great time."

"New menu which is excellent! A lot of unusual ingredient combination we are not usually accustomed to see together, but it works and wonderfully at that! Everything was delicious from the amuse-bouche to the dessert! Wonderful wines by the glass available. Service was courteous, flexible and most professional.

"Second visit to Van Horne. Excellent service and quite an ambitious menu. Only criticism would be the temperature of the food...not quite hot enough. Not discouraged as this gem offers an exceptional experience to those seeking unique dishes and over-the-top star service."

"Very interesting dishes. Subtle combinations of flavors. All very good.
My only criticism is the usual I have about terrible espresso. The last thing you taste in the meal is the coffee. Why do they destroy the memory of an outstanding dinner with sub par espresso. Best if they didn't serve it."
