"Am a really big fan of the Northbrook location. But when it was closed the other day due to a power outage, we decided to drive down to the Chicago location. Rude hostess. Rude server. Cook did no tricks, he was mad at the server because she had not pre-heated the grill. He spoke no words and never cracked a smile. Crammed 8 adults into one booth. Had to beg for the check. Had to wait in the lounge even though the table was ready. For a 7:15 reservation, there's no reason we should have gotten out of there at 9:30. Ridiculous."

"If this was my first visit, I'd never be back. We had a 9:00pm reservation. We weren't seated until 9:40. Didn't get drinks or soup til after 10. It took another hour and a half to get dinner. Food is good but not worth that kind of wait.
And being seated with two obese imbeciles didn't help the experience either. Playing games on iPads, photographing everything, snorting and complainting about everything. It will be a while before we can return."

"The object of the staff seemed to be to get us in and out as quickly as possible. Our sushi order never arrived, and I wonder if it's because there would not have been time to eat it. As soon as we ordered, out came the soup, and everything else--salad,veggies, appetizer, rice, main meal, came so quickly. The chef did not really give us a break. Food was prepared as ordered, very plain, but at least not as over-salted as it can be. The place has become much dingier since I was last here about 10 years ago. I think if you come with a big group to fill the whole table, you might have more control over your situation and it might be better. There were two of us, and we sat with two people we didn't know."

"I was here in Nov. and loved the food and "presentation" (cooking at table), so took my grandkids with me Saturday. They loved it - the food is excellent, and they were thrilled by the "flames" in the middle of the table and watching the chef prepare their meals. Your egg sauce is WONDERFUL! Also, we were so happy and relieved that there were no St. Paddy Day "revelers" there, and were able to enjoy our meal and the ambiance."

"The whole restaurant smelled like fish as soon as you walked in. The service was terrible. The server did not clear used plates away. The food was not very good and it was SO expensive for what we got. Not very entertaining or enjoyable."

"I grew up going to this restaurant and always loved it. I hadn't been back to the area for 5 years or so and was looking forward to the great food & atmosphere. I was so disappointed. The entire experience has gone downhill. It's a hibachi place but the chefs didn't interact with the guests at all. We had to wait at least 1/2 hour after our salads before the chef even showed up to our table. During that wait time, I observed the food carts being loaded and the chefs going back and forth to the carts, comparing them against the order tickets, and then moving the carts and tickets around. Looked like mass confusion and made me wonder how long the meat had been sitting out. I won't be returning."

"The service was terrible. It took at least 35/40 minutes just to get broth that had very little noodles and maybe 2, 3 tops pieces of chicken. The lettuce that had 1 slice of tomatoe had a dressing that was very appetizing. After that we continued to wait for another 30 minutes until out disorganized chef came. While cooking he did not "entertain" us. He cooked out food, seemed to walk away many times and was not keeping an eye on our food. When he was cooking in front of us he was watching the television off to the bar area. I am not sure if the hood was not working because our chef even put up foiled cardboard because he didnt want the smoke to get in our eyes. So basically all we did was sit and wait for our food. I want a refund!!!!!"

"Service was horrible. The hosts left us at the bar for an hour because they forgot about us.regardless of our reservation they let people with latter reservation be seated before us. Im 6'6" and they put me and a tight table where my knee was getting burned under the table. I asked to be moved and tthey wouldnt move me. I see the potential of your resturant being a pleasant experience but it wasnt for me."

"The staff was helpful however our waitress seemed extraordinarily busy. The chef was very friendly however did not live up to other hibachi restaurants I have attended. The food was good however the fried rice was very bland and unappealing. All in all it was a good time, a little pricey."

"Although pleasant, our server was very slow in clearing our food and getting us dessert. Chef had no personality.
My family and I are used to the ambience of the location in Northbrook. The downtown location seems like a fast food restaurant and lacks the calm and fun environment of the suburban location.
We celebrated my sons birthday, and I think something more should be presented for singing rather than a pineapple top and sparklers served on a aluminum foil tray. VERY disappointing for the money I spent.
I would not return to this location again"

"Took my daughter for her B-Day. Called and emailed to specify her food allergies. The waitress told us she would talk to the chef and that everything would be handled. The chef was not aware of the food allergies when he began to cook. He started with Shrimp which we specifically told the waitress that we did not want. We told the chef and he had a bad attitude. He proceeded to cook the shrip and told us that the grill would sterilize everything and not to worry. I asked him to use different cooking utensils then he used with the shrimp, and again he had an attitude. He said he would just wipe them off and everything would be okay. After I pleaded with him, he finally (again with a bad attitude) changed out the cooking utensils.BAD!"
