"A great steak menu that is very reasonably priced ($17-28) and great local craft beers that is cheaper than most bars ($6 pints!). I shared the prime rib platter with my sister which the kitchen split up for us, and even though we were sharing, they gave us a full serving of sides (sweet!). The prime rib was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious, and the yorkshire pudding was perfect. We went for my mum's birthday, so the restaurant brings a birthday brownie which was surprisingly large. It was big enough for all 5 of us at the table to share. And even more surprising was that they did not charge us for it. Overall, great service, great food, and great drinks all at a fantastic price!"

"The food was very good, and I suppose that's what one has to focus on when remembering a restaurant. I chose Smith Bros over options like The Keg because the food is equal and I don't have to put up with slatternly waitresses in an uncomfortably plastic ambiance. I choose it over Barberian's because Smith's is obviously more affordable. Martinis were very nice. The sampler of locally sourced beers accompanying appetizers, wonderful, they do have great brews on tap. Steaks were as good as one would expect from any but the most exclusive steakhouses (Yeah, Barberians, Tom Jones' etc. are better, but must be at their pricing), and were well matched by the small but decently well chosen wine list. Dessert was surprisingly small, but delicious."

"The meal is over when i hate myself. the portions were so generous they had to roll me out the door. you CANNOT beat the value here. i am a portly piper and i have eaten my unfair share of food - this is by far the best cut of meat in the city. if they had a TV at their bar i'd go there for smith bros beers and skewers every game night. this place knocked my socks off."

"We walk in and were promptly greeted. However, it must have been at least 20 minutes before a server came by and offered us water.
My boyfriend decided to have the NY steak, medium. I decided to have the farmhouse salad... Service was really quick, like 10 minutes, and we were impressed, but we soon realized why... The NY Steak was clearly precooked and then warmed up - a perfectly good cut of meat, wasted and ruined.
In terms of ambiance, it was so loud, i could barely hear what my boyfriend was saying - not exactly the place you want to go for a romantic date.
Anyways, i will never come back again, and if you are even thinking of coming, DON'T."

"Smith Bros. "Steak"house lives up to it name. The steak was terrific and the service was equally superb and very attentive. The one drawback was the ambient noise level. We were seated directly in front of the grilling area and the noise from the exhaust fan was ever present. I was not too loud and did not impede conversation too much but it was constant and annoying. We were offered a choice of seating when we arrived and WHEN we go back will be sure and ask to be seated in another section.
But other than that one drawback Smith Bros. is top notch!"

"Great local beer sampler restaurant. The waitress (Dasia) was so nice and very knowledgeable about the types of beer Smith Brothers had and provided great guidance on the flours, fragrance and tastes. We had the sampler of beer and more than half were good the others were not to my liking.
The food was also very good. We had Rib eye steak with a baked potatoes. The steak was done perfectly to my liking and the taste was superb! I would recommend the steak equal to and better than other steak houses."

"we have been coming here almost every week at least once and this is the first time that we had to wait 15min to even get noticed. I asked for a warm brandy and got cold brandy in a pop glass and our server who was also the bar tender had no idea what brandy she served me even though the restaurant only has the one. Overall we still really like the place this must have been one of those one off visits"

"Pretty good steak house..very similar to the other well known "steakhouse". My wife and two kids (11 & 9) found it very noisey,..it was the fan by the open kitchen area that was deafening, not the other patrons. Steak was pretty good, would eat there again for that reason alone. However, the plate was a bit thin,...steak and mashed potatoes, nothing else. Perhaps some vegetables and/or a house salad would be nice. We shared two ceasar salads among the four of us and they were good. We ordered one, then a second after we devoured the first. Good job on serving salad in a cold bowl,..made the salad pop. Our waiter didn't fit the typical young energetic prototype..his comprehension and verbal communications were not very strong."

"Went for an annniversary dinner. Disappointed with decor. Open warehouse. Cold feel. Not good for romatic dinner.Caesar salad appetizer very bad. Tasted like bottled dressing. Packaged croutons. My filet mignon and Husbands strip steak both very very good. Cabernet mushroom sauce terrible... again tasted little fresh wine and bottled garlic,not freshly prepared.Asked for terriyaki ...too sweet. The only one that was good was bacon bourbon sauce. Felt service was rushed.
I didn't find it any more reasonable in price compared to Keg, or Canyon Creek. But steaks are very good. I would go back for steaks. Just wear casual jeans and order a beer.

"Hi there, I had the salmon salad without bacon and I found it a bit lifeless. We had the artichoke dip to start and that was also bland and almost watered down. My boyfriend had the 14oz new york steak and mashed potatoes and he loved it so the steak is definitely a winner but everything else was just ok.
He wants to go back soon but I am hesitant as I dont eat steak and I'm not sure what other options are there for me."

"Second time I've been there. Had the mussels both times. First time they were excellent with a lot of broth and huge mussels. However this time hardly any broth so a bit dry. And they were much smaller. Service was very good. The rest of our party also enjoyed their meals of filet mignon, salmon and chicken.
Prices comparable to a good steak house and quantity of food.
Smaller rooms are more conducive for conversation. Larger rooms too noisy."

"Filet mignon just melted in my mouth. Bacon steak sauce the best. Teriaki tasted like it came out of a bottle. Recommend baked potato - fries are so thin they are heavy with oil. Striploin went over well, as did the burger that disappeared into a teenage boy!
Beers are terrific. Suggest trying the sampler. The Smith's Red was very smooth.
Good value but I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic evening out."

"The steak was great, and we were fortunate to get in with a 'just in time' reservation. Bread was warm, potato was excellent! Sauces were mediocre. They should probably remove 'calamari' from the big chalkboard as it's not available--server admitted board needed to be changed and was outdated. It's certainly not fine dining, but it doesn't suggest it is. Good value for the money--the beer samplers were super at $7. Thanks very much for a pleasant experience."

"Smith Brothers has a great, vibrant ambience, and the service is, for the most part, attentive and friendly (including one of the brothers coming around to ours, and everyone else's table). For steak, the prices are good, and the beer list is good ($6 for a 12 oz, not a pint!). There were some gaffs with the food itself. I had a Mad Tom IPA, and a "Complete", which includes an appy, main, and dessert. My appy was a house salad, and was the best part of the meal. My main was a medium 10 oz New York striploin with shoestring fries, and mushroom cabernet sauce (you can choose from 4 sauces). The steak was cooked to medium, but was unseasoned and so tasted bland, and the alcohol had not been cooked out of the wine in the sauce."

"I rarely write reviews, but I was very impressed with this restaurant. Love the layout and design inside with the open concept kitchen. I was part of a group of 8 people, and we sat at a nice, long and spacious table in the middle of the restaurant in front of the kitchen. The food was great! I had steak and a taste of the prime rib which were cooked perfectly. My only complaint would be my baked potato wasn't fluffy, but that's my personal preference. Tasty beer selection too. Our waiter, Adam, was amazing. We had a big group and you could tell he was putting in a lot of effort to make sure everyone in the group was happy (without hovering too much at the same time). I've never had such extraordinary service. Great job everyone!"

"1st Time Guests and Recommended by Friends.
Relatively Good Value for what we Ate & Drank however the Quality of Food was not quit there due to under cooking.
Appetizers were cold inside but were promptly replaced with fresh & hot.
Main Meals were under cooked and not exactly hot however Dining Room Manager was genuinely apologetic and made things right which was very much appreciated.

"We were a table of six (4 adults and 2 small children) celebrating a birthday. The waiter (George) was friendly and helpful, especially with the children.
The food was very plentiful (almost too much so!). One of our party's sirloin steak was extremely tough, but the owner came by very early into the meal and replaced it with a prime rib dinner. He was very kind and wanted us to be happy with our meal.
For the price, we felt that it was good value, and good food."

"This is the start of what could be a really great restaurant in Scarborough. I hate always having to travel downtown when I want to eat out as I hate chain restaurants and the majority of restaurants in Scarborough are franchised. The quality/taste of the steaks was excellent and the prices are super affordable for a steak house. With a few minor tweaks I believe this restaurant could become a real gem for Scarborough. The menu is small and hard to read as there is info all over the place on it, a straw in my water glass would be nice and my creme brule was not fully set. Service was good and our waiter switched my friends dessert without question when asked. I hope this place does well and the quality and food standards continue to improve"

"If you can get over the fact that it is a bit like eating in a fairly noisy barn, the food and service were terrific. Steaks were tender and tasty and cooked to perfection. Salad starters were well done with crisp lettuce and fresh additions. The server we had was almost perfect. His timing for both serving courses and checking to see how everything was was exactly right. He was in good humour without being overbearing and made for a thoroughly delightful evening."

"I made the reservations online, was very easy. Also through the reservation confirm email I was able to order flowers and have the delivered to the table. Was a nice touch.
