Il Pescatore Restaurant
Il Pescatore was founded in 1980 by three partners all of whom were of Tuscan origin. The original menu included classic Tuscan dishes, which are still on the menu today, such as Pasta della Casa, Veal Scallopine with mushrooms, and our signature Veal T-Bone with Rosemary (Lombata de Vitello al Rosmarino).
With the explosion of the Italian food and wine scene in the 1980’s, the menu expanded to represent dishes from numerous regions of the Italian peninsula. Risotto con funghi (Piemonte), Cannelloni alla Romana (Roma), Eggplant Parmigiana (Sicilia), and Fresh Fish Picatta (Napoli) are but a few of the regional dishes on our menu.
Our menu has been continuously evolving, and this year we introduced our own homemade Gelato and Sorbet.
Il Pescatore has been proudly serving the community of Oakland for over 32 years at Jack London Square and we have been blessed with many loyal customers over the years.

"Haven't been here in a year.. last time I loved it., this time it all seemed so tired and the menu was so limited given it's an Italian fish restaurant.. mostly the only items they had on the menu for fish was shrimp.. felt like I would have had a better dinner at Red Lobster."

"There were se several of us who use to go there on a regular basis this past time, the food was very mediocre. My husband had pasta that seemed not to be fresh and my petrale soul was not what I expected. The batter was a thick skin of scrambled eggs with a tough texture. To say the least, we were disappointed and embarrassed to have invited out of town guests there for dinner."

"We were able to have the restaurant take a reservation for 10 to celebrate a graduation form one of the local universities. The service was top notch! The food was very good for all that attended. They did a special set up to celebrate the graduation even though it's not something they normally do. Overall, we were very pleased with our choice and would highly recommend them and go again ourselves."

"We ate outside on Mothers Day - House was packed, service was a bit slow, but staff more than made up for that with their friendliness and their acknowledgment that they were busy and doing their best. Hubby got a more expensive glass of wine than we were charged because he had to wait a few minutes for it. Their attitude more than made up for the wait.

"We arrived on time - were seated at a table by the window (also by the entrance). We were there at 4PM - so we had undivided attention for a short while. Waiter was friendly and funny. There were 8 of us. 7 out of the 8 meals were very good but the 8th was sole and was fishy tasting. Finally caught a bus person and asked for the waiter to inform him about the sole. One of the owners/mgrs.finally came over and we told him it was fishy smelling and tasting. He said sole had a tendency to be a stronger fish and we argued that point. He then asked what we wanted to replace the meal....we were finished eating at this point.....he did not offer to take it off the bill. We took a dinner to go. We skipped dessert."

"Made reservations for a group of 10 who were traveling in business. The food was excellent! From appetizers to the main course everything was top notch! This on top of the beautiful setting on the water to the attentive staff made our evening quite pleasureable! Our entire group said they would return whenever they are in the area. It is not often you can have such a wonderful meal at a very affordable price and be treated to service and ambience that rivals any pricey upscale restaurant. Bravo Il Pescatore!!!"

"We came for Easter Sunday Brunch, our first visit here. We had the most spectacular table in the house, set up and ready for us at our reservation time. The wait staff was patient with our big group and we did not wait long for our food. The drinks were good, the food was good, we will be back. I can not say enough lovely things about this restaurant. They use quality ingredients,so you will pay more than you think you should for a pasta dish, but it is worth it! Great views of the boats docked in the harbor."

"This was a return visit, last visit about 5 years ago. I thought ~ for the quality of food ~ that they were extremely over-priced for a lunch. I took my staff, and for the four of us the bill was close to $150 dollars, and we didn't have wine (just ice-tea.) The portions were very modest - I had sole with kale, with was luke warm at best. My staff members had salmon with veggies and a penne pasta in red sauce."

"This is the kind of overpriced, tired, uninspired food that gave Fisherman's Wharf a bad rep. Except that it's in Oakland, which is even more insulting, since it has a less scenic view. The starters are adequate but indifferent quality. The special veal chop was unevenly cut, barely trimmed with a huge fatty tail left on, and impossible to cook properly, altho sauce was perfect. Fish and calamari steak were small but adequate, if nothing remarkable. Sides were the same for all entrees, very old school. The dessert menu is identical to everybody else's, and again good but not great. Coffee & espressos are excellent--the only part of the meal that was. With Oliveto & Lungomare nearby, why come here?"

"Situated right on the Estuary at Jaack London square makes the location great. But we came her for its Italian food. The entrees that the five of us had were varied in quality. The Saltimbocca was recommended by the waiter and it was excellent. The veal with capers was also quite good. The fish of the day was limp and tasteless. The best thing on the plates was fresh the vegetables. The pasta served on the plate was diappointing as it was rather blah and went uneatten by several. We had an array of deserts and all were tasty. The choclate pecan pie was the best of the four we had. Service was very well paced and attentive. This resturant has been an old standby when we are in the Oakland area."

"It was a beautiful day and the setting was great for a ladies Birthday lunch. The pricing is quite high as it was $150 for lunch for 3 with tip. This did include a $32 bottle of wine.
The waiter was extremely attentive and along with another waiter did a wonderful rendition of Happy Birthday. The celebrant loved it.
