We source all our meats from Pino's Prime Meat, located right across the street from Da Marcella since 1903, including the organic free-range chicken in our menu. All our pastas are made with the best durum wheat using the classic bronze dies that leave the surface of the pasta rough and porous to perfectly absorb our slow cooking sauces. At the same time, most of our pastas are organic and very...soon all of them will be. We believe that great food should be affordably priced.
We have a passion for good food and excellent service utilizing the best ingredients. Most importantly we have a love for food, service and quality.
Our philosophy is simple: cook with real food to create unbelievable results. Authentic food, authentic service. You deserve it.
"to me, this is authentically Italian. Simple food, but delicious. Reasonably priced. Casual atmosphere, and they let you linger as long as you want. When the weather is nice they open the doors for fresh air."

"Da Marcella is a great little place and am glad to have found it. $75 for 3 glasses of wine, 2 apps, 2 first courses and dessert - sounds like a deal to me! This was our first time, but we're convinced their best app is the meatballs. Their house specialty is the tagliatelle. It was fresh and the bolognese was very tasty. The linguine del lavorante had a wonderful, light and creamy sauce. It wasn't too spicy at all, it might have been better than the house specialty! The hot chocolate cake is pretty good too, I've had better, but it really hit the spot. Service is very attentive. Only downside is the restaurant is small, be prepared to sit very close to your neighbor. This place is a must try if you're in the area."

"It is always tenuous when reserving for a birthday event at a place. Unknown factors like will the food be good? Will it have the ambiance as describe? Will the service be good? Will everyone have a great time?
The restaurant is along the West Houston corridor of eateries and bars adjacent to SoHo and Greenwich. It is a dimly lit that is quaint and friendly service. Our host and waitress was friendly and helpful even with the busy restaurant that night and dealing with 6 people table. The restaurant’s atmosphere was fun and casual. Not to loud and good for conversation. On the whole, everything was well prepared and the food came out timely.
Good friends sharing good food in a casual place is a good recipe."

"The service is very good, but the seating is cramped. This is a small eatery, so you can't help how you're sitting inches away from your neighbor. If you go around the time they open, you shouldn't have any problems getting a table - if not, be sure to make reservations.
For $75, we had 3 glasses of wine, 2 appetizers, 2 1st course dishes, and dessert. Our favorite is the linguini del lavorante. The sauce is light and creamy. The tagliatelle alla bolognese is also very good. Judging from our two dishes, I'm betting that their vodka sauce is super tasty - I'll definitely have to try that one the next go around. The hot chocolate cake is also very good, not heavy at all. Great dinner overall."

"I recently went out to dinner with my mom and a couple of her friends, who were all visiting NYC for the weekend. Seeing as they're in the 50+ crowd, I wanted to avoid the many booze-focused, bass-thumping spots in the Village, but without breaking the bank. Da Marcella was exactly what I wanted. The ambiance was toned down, but not pretentious, and the food was very good, especially for the price. The pasta dishes are not heaping portions, but not meager, and all run about $10. The four of us split 2 antipasti, had a pasta dish each, and split 2 desserts for 90 bucks. I haven't come across many better values anywhere in NYC."

"Da Marcella is an unbelievable restaurant find in pricey NYC. The pasta dishes are superb, and the variety extraordinary. The bolognese is wonderful, but so too are the mushroom based sauces. And you will be VERY happy with your bill for the evening! Highly recommended."

"A little cramped but that is completely redeemed by their excellent food! The price point is excellent as well! Try a few pastas and split a main course like their braised short rib with creamy polenta."

"Reasonably priced and decent food. Somewhat frantic service, but that didn't bother us. We were underwhelmed by our appetizer (calamari) and our pasta entrees, but were blown away by the desserts. We tried the tiramisu, ricotta cheesecake and the gelato which were outstanding and made up for the main course. Will visit again, but only for their dessert."

"After several delightful meals, the cooking is slipping. A special of fried smelts was over-battered and greasy; the fava beans too old and starchy, rather than green and sweet. Disappointing for what should be a reliable neighborhood joint."

"We were a big group in this little restaurant but Da Marcela were so accommodating and welcoming to us all and our kids. Meals were great and nice that the plates weren't too big so you could still fit in the lovely desserts. Wine list not too pricey too!"

"I have passed this place several times walking around the neighborhood and wondered how it was; I am happy to report it is really excellent--good food, pleasant surroundiung, and very friendly service. I have a disabled child in a wheelchair and often when we go out, we are greeted with indifference if not outright hostility since it is a chore sometimes to get herin and out and seated at a table. The people at D Marcella lifted her over the two steps into the restairant and cleared a path for us to get her to the table. Loved this place."

"What a find. I had Dinner with a friend here and it won't be my last. I felt right at home, an Italian home, as I entered this tiny restaurant on Houston steet. I entered after looking for a good Italian restaurant on the internet. Great reviews, I gave it a shot. I was blown away by the cozy atmosphere, tasty food and warm service. The prices are ridicoulosly moderate.
Go Go Go."

"We chose Da Marcella mostly because of its location and the 1,000 points from Open Table. Now we'll be eating there whether or not we get points. From our first bite to our last sip of espresso, the food and service were outstanding. Our party of four ordered multiple dishes and sampled them all including the house specialty, tagliatelle bolognese, which was fabulous. The organic spaghetti puttanesca and linguine lavorante were as good as I've ever tasted, the beef carpaccio tender and fresh, artichoke aglio e olio delicious, and the whole branzino and salmon were cooked to perfection. Desserts were excellent and not overpriced. House wines were very drinkable. Look for Arber when you're there. He really makes you feel welcome!"

"On our first visit, we found Da Marcella to be a warm environment with good food. On our second visit, we were treated with such disregard that it bordered on hostility. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait about ten minutes for a table. We were left standing by the door for about 5 minutes before anyone made eye contact with us, and several minutes after that before we were greeted.
We were seated next to someone who the staff clearly knew, and was treating like a VIP. We were getting in the way. I thought I was noticed for a moment when our server offered me another glass of wine. Then my wife leaned over and said, "she wasn't talking to you.""

"Found Da Marcella on Open Table: Fantastic Food at REAL PRICES- Seriously wonderful food, served by wonderful owners who genuinely care about their guests. This place is an off the radar restaurant soon to be one of the most on the radar restaurants in New York. Pastas are perfect, and the tiramisu is out of this world. Markup on wines (boutique selections too)), are like everything on the menu....fair and excellent choices!! RUN don't walk to Da Marcella!!"

"On a recent visit to NYC, found this restaurant by accident while perusing an online source. All reviewers raved about it; and they were spot-on. So glad to be able to make reservations online as the place is quite small and would most likely not have been able to get in without one. It is quite cozy, but loud, so be prepared. The wait staff were remarkably attentive. Extensive wine list. Food outstanding. Prices very fair. Will definitely return on my next visit to the city."

"I had walked past this place many times (it is right next to Rafetto's) without taking much notice. A friend recommended so we tried. Was quite nice. Incredbily good value for the price. A very pleasant place to enjoy an Italian dinner without going deeply into debt. I have not found a better place of this type in the Village."

"Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Can get a bottle of nice wine for under $25. The restaurant is small and the tables are very close together. It is very loud. Unfortunately, we were seated by the kitchen curtain and right next to the large sidetable that holds the silverware and dishes. We heard clanging all evening as the wait staff accessed the silverware and plates. I will return but would make sure to ask to sit somewhere else."

"We will be coming back to DaMarcella...and often...the food is excellent and their prices are moderate for such quality and well prepared dishes. The place is small and I hope that in the future they will be able to find a larger space in the area. The service, while it is OK is a bit scattered at times. You can tell that this is a restaurant, that while the owners have had alot of experience in other great Italian places in the city.....is lacking a bit in the service end. We went on a Wednesday evening and it appears that they had one busboy and two waiters....the effort is all there, they just need to polish and refine, streamline it a bit. All in all a great place."

"A Greenwich Village find. Best price for excellent dinner in New York. Small, cozy, excellent service, friendly and quality all in one. It will soon be an impossible to get a reservation restaurant. First visit was just our family and this last visit we added friends and boy, were they impressed. I think I am making a mistake writing this review, I should keep this place for myself."

"We first discovered Da Marcella shortly after it opened, drawn initially by incredibly reasonable prices. We've returned time and again, however, for the delicious food and warm bustle we always find there. It's become our go-to place for out-of-town friends, who are always shocked and delighted by the price/quality ratio (very reasonable/top notch. Everything we've had is well-prepared, but special treats have been the sardines and the chick pea soup special. Special kudos to wine list, many fine choices at affordable prices."
