"This is one of our Austin favorites. Great prices, neighborhood ambience, friendly service, and the best wine list in town (BYOB, which is hard to find in the great state of Texas). Saw the owner of Chez Nous eating there the other night. They serve locally sourced French bistro cuisine at great prices. We don't eat there during the day, but on weekends they turn it into a gourmet heaven. They even have good stemware for your bottle! I am hesitant to talk this up too much, as I like being able to get in without a wait, but this really is a great place. Whether it's eating out with carnivore friends or vegetarian, they have something for everyone."

"I love love love this restaurant. The food consistently blows me away and they are incredibly friendly and attentive. The fact that it's tucked away in a north campus neighborhood and lit entirely by candles makes it have a cozy intimate feel. Great for dates or just for a random Tuesday. I can't rave about it enough."

"TFB is one of my favorite neighborhood spots. The food is always what's in season and fresh from local farms and their desserts are amazing. I also love that it's BYOB. You won't be disappointed."

"We ate dinner here. We found the dinner menu to be limited in choices. Maybe we expected too much with the 4-star rating from other sites. The bread that is complementary was nice quality, but the olive oil for dipping was ordinary with just a bit of pepper in it. Salad Lyonnaise was good but not outstanding. The croutons on the salad were flavorful, but too large in size to comfortably chew them. They were crispy, so cutting them was not preferred. Steak frites dinner was simple. Steak on bland side and left over some. Mussels were bland. Needed garlic, herbs, some other seasoning. We didn't have dessert. Won't return there for dinner but may give breakfast a try."

"We came here to celebrate a special occasion and it was exactly what we had hoped for: an intimate, unpretentious spot with excellent food and a locals-only feel. The service was helpful and friendly and made the evening even more pleasant. Will be back soon and won't wait for another special occasion next time. Thank you, it was a great evening!"

"Weekly menu is locally sourced. TFB supports local farms/artisans as well as any restauran in Austin, so much that the menu is not extensive but is always interesting. Attentive but laid back service. It's BYOB but not to worry, there is a store across the street for beer & wine. Great desserts. The butterscotch budino is a must."

"Particularly enjoyed the quiet...hard to find a restaurant in Austin where you can have conversations with your guests. Also enjoyed bringing our own wine with a very modest $6.00 per bottle corkage fee....and the food was very good...a most enjoyable experience."

"main courses - middle of the road. appetizers were great. try the mussels app w/ dry cider, leeks, & parsley cream-they were spectacular. choc/peanut butter dessert was light and topped off the evening well. If I returned I would pass on the large plates (we got the shrimp and lobster stew and the pappardelle w/italian sausage & kale) and just get the appetizers as the main dish (yes the mussels were that good) and dessert. I do like that they change their menu often. No drip coffee so there were no free refills at dinner. My new shoes kept slipping on the concrete. As a newcomer it was confusing that there was no clear greeter, designated place to check in or clear point of entry of the restaurant but this would no deter me from returning."

"It certainly wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. I had the risotto which was quite delicious, but it was counter balanced by my wife's less than exciting chicken and veggies. You could tell it was fresh, so points for that. But the lack of seasoning certainly left something to be desired."

"The restaurant is not Romantic at all and very plain jane. There is no wine and we had to go out buy a bottle. The service was fine and the owners very nice. The food was not bad but not that fantastic either. The experience genearlly was good but not memeoriable. With all the great restaurnats in Austin it is not top on our list.
TEXAS FRENCH BREAD NEEDS BETTER CRUST AND WINE"

"The food was wonderful, but the service, while earnest, was a bit disorganized. The service staff was polite and really seemed to care, and there was even a little bit of extra effort on some parts, but I was brought a wrong dish, dishes weren't always cleared before the next course, and sometimes it was just kinda slow. Again, though, the food was very good which made up for a lot."

"Food was lovely, true french bistro fare. This establishment is not licensed to serve alcohol. We brought our own wine, with 6$ corkage fee they will open and serve."

"My only issue was that half of the menu was not available by 8pm on a Saturday night. That's the downside. The upside, they were apologetic and sent out a complimentary dessert.
What I love most, this place is BYOB! You can bring your fancy bottle from home and that's always fun."
