"Been here a few times. The food and ambiance here is very good. The prices are very reasonable, although I think the steak prices are a tad high, but the steaks are very tasty. The food quality is great and the wait staff is attentive. You need to tell your server you want the seafood platter grilled, in their balsamic sauce. Octopus, calamari, and shrimp..... delicious

"We LOVE Bella Notte! We accidently found it while moving our son into his apartment and have been back several times. This last time was for his college graduation and we had a small group. The food is excellent, drink menu very good and the service was great."

"`Food was very good and very plentiful. We couldn't have finished the half orders much less the full orders. It was very noisy upstairs but there were several large parties. I appreciate the waiters accent but when there is a lot of background noise it became impossible to hear the specials. We could have used a written special menu."

"Brought my mother to Chicago for Mother's Day weekend. Had dinner there on a Saturday night. Waiters were very attentive. Food was wonderful....we got the 1/2 portions and couldn't even finish them. Was allowed to dine leisurely and did not feel rushed."

"I took my girlfriend here for her birthday. Our waitress was obviously an Italian mother, which I thought was great. She was able to recommend excellent entrees for both of us an selected the right portion sizes. We even had enough leftovers for lunch the next day, which is impressive for having only ordered a half portion of pasta. We had bruschetta for an appetizer, it was the best I have had so far. The tiramisu is home made and the best I have had so far.
Highly recommend this place!!!"

"This is a terrific neighborhood restaurant. We had gotten several recommendations from friends and co-workers. I had made reservations for 5 for my son's birthday, when we walked in with 6, they were extremely accommodating and made room for #6. The waiters were VERY attentive with water, which is a big deal with some in our group. But not just with water, with everything else as well. They were very good at explaining specials and a very lovely group of people. Their meals are priced full and half portions, very reasonably. If you are going for a nice night out, get the half portion. If you choose a full portion you will have food for several additional meals. We will definitely go back."

"Went before the show at the Artistic Home theatre next door. Excellent food with quality ingredients and perfect pasta. Pricey, but truly huge portions. Returned for dessert and coffee afterwards at 11; they accommodated us even though they were trying to close. Nicely done desserts, as well."

"Very noisy restaurant with tables set close together. Portions were very large so only order the half sizes. I had the mussels in red wine sauce and it was lovely, just a hint of spiciness, it might be too salty for some taste buds."

"We have been going to Bella Notte for years for special occasions and have never been disappointed. The portions are enormous. I prefer a table near the front window which is cozy and less noisy when crowded. The seafood appetizers and entrees are absolutely wonderful. Also, they serve the best martinis in town. Love this place!"

"I can't believe this was my first time at this restaurant after living in the city for almost 20 years. The food was delicious and you can enjoy the leftovers for several meals at home. We really enjoyed the burrata special, but it doesn't leave much room for your entrees! The tomato sauce is extremely fresh and rivals any in Chicago. We will definitely go back soon!"

"Better than expected!
We had eaten at Bella Notte once before and had a so-so meal---the food was very salty---so we came with low expectations. This time we were pleasantly surprised. There were 5 of us. We all enjoyed everything we ordered, which included the grilled octopus/calamari appetizer, a salad for the table, pasta, chicken and fish entrees and expressos. We expected the place to be noisy since we were there on a busy Saturday night and that proved to be the case. Conversation was impossible."

"This restaurant is far more casual than the pictures online led me to believe. A number of people were dressed in jeans and Hawks gear no doubt on their way to the UC following their meal.
The service was not very good. Our server did not relay any specials to us. He never checked on us to see how our meal was going. My wife had to ask to have her water glass filled. When my wife ordered two half portions (which was far too much food for one person, but more on that) he didn't comment that it would be too much. I am usually a very generous tipper. On an $80 bill I tipped $5.
The food was average at best. Go with the half order. A full order is far too much food."

"I wish I had found this place years ago. The food was fabulous, the service attentive, the wine list great, and the atmosphere classy but unpretenious. Honestly, it was some of the very best northern Italian food I have ever had and I've had lots! Everything we had was prepared perfectly. I can't find one thing to quibble with. It was also packed the night we were there but our waiter was still attentive and the food served in a timely manner without rushing us either. You can valet the car or there is easy parking on Grand if its not snowing. And did I mention that, except for the steaks, the cost is more than reasonable for an upscale restaurant?"

"When we arrived we were greeted and seated quickly. We were at a table in the corner in the front of the restaurant. It is very dark in the restaurant...our server let us borrow a small pocket sized flashlight to read the menu. The food was very good. Warm Italian bread was delivered to our table for dipping in olive oil...we had an amazing appetizer not on the menu but was suggested by the waiter. Prosciutto and roasted red pepper on a bed of arugula that was sprinkle with balsamic vinegar...very good. No need to order a salad as the serving size of the appetizer was large. Order 1/2 sizes of the main course..portion sizes are large. Nice staff, quiet early on until a large crowd came later after a gallery had let out next door."
