"I've been to Nana's Uptown before and enjoyed both the food and service, so decided to take my family there during their visit to Charlotte for Mother's Day. It was a pleasant surprise that they added a nice brunch menu for the occasion, but I was pretty turned off at the fact that they raised the prices of their lunch/dinner selections. Appetizers were $12 each and entrees started at $29 (even for fried chicken ). It also didn't leave a great impression with other first-time visitors sitting near my table. As for service, we only saw our server when she took our order, brought our food, & brought the check. It wasn't crowded when we arrived at noon yet our food still took over 30 minutes, all without our server so much as checking on us."

"I am rating Nana's Good overall. The food was excellent and the portion sizes were great. The ambience was outstanding; very nice place for a date night, book club meeting, or hanging out listening to good music after hours. This was my fourth visit and my first disappointment with the service. It was apparent they were not ready for the crowd. The service was very slow. It took an hour to get our food after we found a waiter to serve us. The waiter turned out to be great. He tried really hard to ensure we were taken care of. I know this was a unique experience and I am not holding it against Nana's. Based on past experiences, it really is a neighborhood gem. I will return."

"We arrive & music is blasting & some guy is yelling. I guess this was MD "entertainment". We couldn't talk & I'm looking around & no one else is talking because it's so loud.
SERVICE: First waitress is rude. I ask about the chicken & waffles because everyone raved about them. She says they're not on the MD menu, but they're a favorite. I asked for other recos. She's never tried the brunch food because it's busy. New waitress comes. She's rude. 1 hr goes by. No one is getting their food or talking.
THE FOOD: Catfish was good. Grits were slimy. Eggs were ok. Biscuits were stone cold. We ask for warm ones. Waitress returns 20 min later. She won't bring the check. I had to wave her down to bring it. The worst MD brunch in memory. Never again."

"This resturant is definitely a step up from the other location. Although my server was good the rest of the staff lacked professionalism by walking back and forth texting on their cell phones and playing around as they entered or exited the kitchen just to give a few examples.
My God-sister and I ordered the Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles and my fiancee had the Belgan Chicken and Waffle. The chicken was seasoned to perfection; the waffle however lacked flavor. It was almost as if they just added red food coloring to the waffle and called it red velvet.
Other than that I would recommend the resturant to others but not on a sunday"

"I came to celebrate my cousins birthday with a group of six of us. It was the first time for all of us and we really had a blast. The food was great and our server was Michelle and she was wonderful and very attentative. The host team was great and they even had the band sing Happy Birthday to my cousin and embarassed her to death. ( she can't stand being in the forefront lol) We would definitely be back. "Friendly staff, but not completely competent (yet). Went with group of 7. They forgot a drink order & needed to come back and ask again (no big deal). The calamari was really overcooked (other appetizer fine). Salads were brought out AFTER the entrees (large salads, had to have boxed). Catfish was great & there was a lot of it. Collard greens also good. Red beans & rice lacked flavor. Others who ordered non-fried fish enjoyed their meals. HOWEVER, one colleague ordered fried fish plate & it was inedible. Fried porkchop and meatloaf also overcooked & not very good. They graciously removed the fried fish from bill but nonetheless a bad experience. We'll give it another try but someone needs to fix the frying and timing of salads."

"Went to Nana's Uptown before an event downtown on 3/16. There was a huge group that took up 2 tables huge that was very loud You could not carry on a decent conversation with speaking loudly. They should have been in a separate room, but there was another event going on so they were out with all other diners. The servers are all good. It was weird that when my friend requested garlic mashed potatoes that they were out of them for the day. How can you be out of mashed potatoes? In addition, there was no peach cobbler-was also listed on the menu. The staff was nice, but the side dishes were not spiced well (potato salad, macaroni and cheese, green beans) so were just very bland. It was not a place for a repeat visit."

"We are new to the greater Charloote area and wanted a special place to celebrate my wife's birthday. Lunch crowd was light, so we assumed we would have food to table in less time than it actually took. Service was good and servants knowledgable, but not quite 4-star. Food temperature was good, restaurant was clean and bright, but tables to very close together, so lacks the intimacy of some other restaurants."

"I would have to say my restaurant experience at Nana's was horrible. First I fell due to the slippery floor. Our service was horrible. to pay us any attention. I ordered the pork chops and they were over cooked. and it was stil and it was still bloody. We had our server take it back and then he dropped it due to the plate being hot. Not only was it the server fault that he dropped it he still charge this for it."

"This is a very nice spot. We will dine here again. The staff is 100% on point. Very professional, in fact, you would think you were dining in a 5 star location by how you are treated. The food is spectacular, I haven't had ribs that good since being home. The only downside was that there was a large party who were being a little extra noisy (birthday) but no doubt that will not be the norm. Our only other issue is that we didn't go here sooner, this will become a spot on our rotation. If you want excellent food, pitch perfect service and not be charged an arm and a leg, this is a must dine."

"We had reservations for 8:30pm but we didn't get our table until around 9pm. Once we were seated, a waiter never came to out table to greet us. However, the waiters did wait other tables around us. About about 15mins, we left. Horrible experience!! Can possibly see myself ever dinning there again!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BARTENDERS!!"

"This was my first visit to Nana's. My guest and I had a 6:30 p.m. reservation. We were seated around 6:45 p.m. It went downhill after we were seated and we placed our orders. It took 45 minutes for an order of (calamari, a lettuce wedge, and a PO Boy sandwich) to be delivered to our table. The calamari was not tasty and the lettuce wedge only came with a small tiny cup of blue cheese dressing. My guest did not enjoy the PO BOY sandwich.
After we finished our dinner, our waitress delivered our check, it took and additional 30 minutes for the payment to be picked up. *Service is everything when dining out*....the service here was the deciding factor for me....I will not be returning!"
