Museum Tavern
Museum Tavern is a classic American styled tavern. We offer traditional fare with a focus on fresh local ingredients. Our ode to the great American bar is fully stocked with house-made, classic, and oak aged cocktails, as well as a lengthy list of single malt whiskeys. We are located at 208 Bloor St. W., on the 2nd floor, directly across from the Royal Ontario Museum and the Royal Conservatory of Music. Elevators may be accessed in the lobby of our building.

"This was our first time having Wendesday night girls night at Museum Tavern, and it couldn't have been better!
The steak frites was spectacular! We couldn't decide what part was better... the steak or the amazing fries!!
The drinks are very interesting, a great change from a simple champagne or vodka soda kind of place! The wine list has a lot of choices with 6oz, 9oz, half litre or bottles, and some really great VQA's to choose from too!
Great ambiance in the restaurant! Very attentive staff who really know their stuff!

"I've been to Museum Tavern several times over the past few months and am really impressed! The menu is simple and tasty, especially the appetizers which are really fun to share. Thehighlight for me, however, is the drink menu. Museum's take on an old fashioned is smooth and refreshing and one manhattan is alyour takes to shake the day off and slide into a warm, cozy, happy place:) Have recommended it to friends and will definitely be back again!"

"The front of house could use a discussion on seating arrangements - they currently fill one part of the restuarant at lunch, then another - so early and late diners both feel hemmed in with people on the bench side or back side. If they staggered diners in teh two area, it would still seem lively and yet more relaxed for lunch."

"We chose the Museum Tavern for its proximity to Koerner Hall. We were dining early in order to make a 7::30 performance. Oysters were great. We had the fish of the day which was served on a bed of arugula and was quite good except that the fillet portion was a bit small for the price. We would have appreciated some other vegetables to round out the dish. With only the arugula to accompany the smallish fish portion we were left a bit unfulfilled. No bread was offered to the table. We did find that the food delivery was a bit long. We expected that 2 hours would be ample time to have a 3 course meal but did not have time to have dessert because we had to run to our concert."

"This was our first time at Museum Tavern and definitely won't be our last. The atmosphere was very lively and the staff were all friendly. The food was excellent, they even have a variety of dishes for vegetarians or vegans. Everyone in our party was extremely pleased with their meal."

"Museum Tavern is, no surprise, located across from the Royal Ontario Museum is exactly the what this strip needed. Though, I'll miss the thrifty Pho Hung (becoming a condo, no surprise) - the addition of pretention-free good cooking is a welcome change to the Gabby and McDs and Subway you can get along that row and don't want to go into Yorkville.
Great ambiance, and definitely better than average "pub" fare. A good standby for the area."

"Not too pleased that 4 appetizers and 1 main was not available considering it was an already small menu. A very loud customer with a potty mouth was sitting behind us.....he was quite inappropriate but no one from staff did anything to quiet him. Food was tasty but lacked in presentation. Was disappointed that we were not properly checked in so append Table was not ware we had honoured our reservation. Will not bother to go back, lots of excellent competition in same area."

"Outstanding food, excellent service, cool ambience. Only downside is the noise level. For not such a large restaurant, the noise decibel sounded like triple the number of people in the restaurant. One tiny issue was the delcious ceviche was served on a warm/hot plate - easy fix. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates tasty, creative takes on your favorite foods."

"We'll be back. A beautiful young woman next to us had a piercing and very loud voice. It was difficult to hear my two companions. I did not ask to be seated elsewhere, as we had already had drinks where we were, and ordered.
My Menninite chicken was not very moist; I did enjoy the meal however. I didn't expect a brilliant dish. It was good. The potatoes and greens were delicious. We drank beer for supper that night.
The balcony looks tempting. Is it only Saturday night you don't take reservations? We had tried once for Saturday. We DID have Friday night reservations. There were three of us. WE HAD A GOOD EVENING. The first time we've been there. Thanks for this opportunity."

"I found the menu selections rather dull, the preparations unimaginative. (By 7:30 on a Thursday night they were also sold out of quite a few things on the menu--that seems rather early!) The lentils with my arctic char were quite overcooked, as was the fish itself.
The cocktail selections is the only reason to return."

"First time here. Wait staff , ours in particular was very attentative and provided great service. A little to noisey for my liking, but considering who we were sandwiched between quite normal. I found the frites far too salty! My tuna was not done as well as I would have liked , but was still delicious. Overall I would return, but asked to sit elsewhwere.Great place!!"

"I've been to the Museum Tavern a couple times and have enjoyed both visits. The only negative comment would be the waiter did not provide my dining companion with the cost of her class of wine. It wasn't until we saw the bill that we noticed it cost $24. Given the cost of this glass of Chardonnay was quite pricey, it would have been nice to make an informed decision around the price prior to assuming she would not like to reconsider her choice."

"We have just moved into this neighbourhood. I had heard about the restuarant from a food crtitic review in the newspaper and it was also recommended to us by a Real Estate Agent. Our sons enjoy an Old Fashion and they make one of the best. It is fantastic. Think Bistro style. The food is really good and the service is friendly and attentive. "My third time there this month - outstanding! With special note that the staff, from front-of-house to waiters to kitchen (said hi on the way to the ladies room) are all extremely professional and friendly. In my experience, this speaks to a management that cares about its employees and treats them with respect. Just a hunch...but it means a lot to me, especially because we could choose to go to many fine restaurants in this big city, but always feel like going to Museum Tavern on a night out!"

"We went there mostly because we had heard of the Bemelmans memorabilia hoping it would have the same vibe. Unfortunately not. However, what it is is a good addition to the hood. For the price point I think they need to improve. My Atlantic Char was a wee bit dry, so were the homemade buns of the sliders and the Ahi Tuna. the Chop Suey was gloppy, All of our party of four voiced their disappointment with the food but the fries were a hit. I'd stop in for a drink and an app or two at the bar but not sure I'd invest in another meal."

"Looking for a quaint and cool restaurant in Yorkville with amazing service then look no further than Museum Tavern. Using local and fresh ingredients prepared into some of the most delicious offerings in the Yorkville neighbourhood then look no further. I've tried both of their burgers (tuna and beef) on separate occasions and they're amazing. The appetizer and menu selection is robust appealing to both meat lovers and vegetarians. The drink selection offers a variety of draft beers, bottle beers, wine by the glass and creative cocktails. My only regret..I'm always too full to enjoy the tasty desserts so save room."

"The food was incredible. The blue cheese and bacon chicken wings were life-changing and all the deviled pig wing was one of the most amazing pieces of meat that I have ever consumed. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous (think 1920's Paris) and the staff were fantastic. Can't wait to eat here again."

"If you're going to attempt a pub classic such as fish and chips (google image search it), then you should stick to the tied, tested and winning formula, and serve a nice beer battered (quota respectful) ocean fish and actual chips, NOT limpid pre-salted waif-life potato structures forced into incarceration in a tankard and flavourless farmed mini fish (the waitress couldn't tell me what species it was). She was very nice, mind. This menu should say GHOST FISH AND POTATO PRISONERS. My associate had what looked like a bad tofu sandwich. Don't put tofu in a sandwich. There's too much beige in it."
