"This was our first time at this local restaurant. We loved the fact that the food was fresh and had great flavor. The appetizers were delicious (calamari, crab cake, 4 kinds of fresh sausage). The salad and entrees that we had were all very good. Scallops A+, Halibut A+, Roasted chicken A+, Pork plate A+. Desserts were delicious - especially the blueberry crisp! I would highly recommend!"

"Having seen this restaurant mentioned in various reviews - my husband and i decided to try it one Saturday night. Boy were we disappointed. Plastic flowers should have clued me and then hearing a server being reprimanded also did not make the place inviting. The salad accompanying my turkey burger was so limp with dressing it was inedible. Looking forward to dessert - our server never even offered us the dessert menu and just brought us the check. This place is huge - with an undertrained staff and mediocre food and in an out of the way location- I do not expect it to survive very long. Truly disappointing."

"The Lakehouse continues to get more consistent with it's food prep and service. Servers still have to be prodded for specials but they try. Fish preparations are done well but everything seems a bit too pricey for the area. Entrees are probably $5-6 higher than necessary. More desserts need to be offered and it would be nice to get a bread service before dinner."

"Service was poor, meat not cooked as requested, very small portions for the cost. Had to ask several times for bread and water refills. Food was good, but high priced. Manager was wonderful and went out of his way to make it up to us. We would give it one more try to see if we would have a better dining experience."

"We loved that it had a variety of rooms from which to choose. The menu was extensive but not everything was as good as it sounded on paper although almost everything we had was very good. The Virginia Rockfish had an unexpected, sweet component to it. The braised pork belly was delicious. The lamb sausage flatbread was also delicious. The mussels appetizer was big enough to be a small entree, especially following an appetizer. We will definitely go back to try more menu options before making our final verdict. The brunch menu looked interesting."

"The restaurant is very nice in decor and appearance, however the overall experience was very disappointing.
Upon entering the restaurant itself, one was immediately greeted with a strong fish odor. In spite of this, one member of our party ordered Rockfish off the menu. Guess what...It had a very strong fishy taste. The rest of our party played it safe and went with burgers and were served grease soaked burgers and soggy fries. Absolutely horrible.
WHAT A SHAME. The ownners obviously spent a lot of money to create a beautiful establishment but the food experience was very very bad."

"WE had a very long wait for the main course. The bill was adjusted for this. Food was ordinary with small portions served on very large plates. Quite noisy and did not have the ambiance to justify fairly high prices. Did not seem to know what kind of restaurant it was - a typical ordinary chain restaurant like Olive Garden or a high priced quality restaurant, run by a chef."

"Lunch at the Bungalow Lakehouse was simply good. The restaurant has a good blend of atmospheres: a club style wood-paneled dining room, a comfortable booth area with windows that face the street, a wide open bar with pool tables, a glassed-in cigar bar, and a wide wrap around back porch and deck overlooking a small lake - something for whatever mood you are in. We had hoped to sit outside, but it was too cool out so we opted for the booth area.
The service was prompt with just the right amount of attention. The food selection was good with both standard fare: chicken, fish, steak, burgers, sandwiches and some dishes with some twists and flair.
Our group had: cauliflower curry soup, walnut encrusted salmon, turkey burger and a hambu"

"Not really impressed with selection on menu. Prices were a little on high side for what was offered. We had roasted chicken and rockfish. Both were just okay. Service was a bit slow and staff seemed disorganized. Bars seemed to be doing well and may consider coming in for drinks in the future."

"The food and beer at the Lakehouse are very good. The wine list needs a little tweaking. The service in the sit down dining room has been poor on the 2 occasions we dined there. Very slow and not as attentive as they should be. Service in the bar areas seems to be better."

"The Lakehouse has it all, just choose the room you want to suit the atmosphere you are looking for. We sat in a front room for a lovely Easter brunch. There was a VERY large party in the room when we sat and feared we would not get the service we were hoping for... but not only did they handle the party (from what I saw) well, they also gave our small party excellent service. But the TV bar just calls for you to come have fun with dart boards, an open deck that overlooks a pond, TV's everywhere and more. There is a room that looked perfect for a romantic evening, a small conversational bar and a cigar bar. Then, as if that was not enough, there are lovely facilities downstairs for your reception, family reunion, etc. Nicely done!"

"Monday was a quite night at the Bungalow but the staff was focused and attentive to our party of six. The wine selection is simple but does cover the basics. With our bland foodie daughter along for the celebration, the waiter selected a good wine to balance her desire for the sweeter wine, and mine for a bolder favor wine. Each course arrived well timed with the conclusion of the previous. The entrees were well seasons, not relying on salt or heat to cover any mistakes. I had the trout which was moist, flavorful, but still allowed the mild favor of the fish to come through. Our waiter was serious, but relaxed, adding to our celebration. All in all, we will be returning again."

"Nice competition for Sweet Water Tavern across the street. I had the walnut encrusted salmon and it was among the best salmon dishes I have ever had. The place is a little dark which could be nice for romance, but I went with my parents and my wife and kids and it could have been a little brighter for our group. We also had the calamari with fried green tomatoes and they were delicious."

"Second time here. Service was very slow. We were there one hour before we saw any food, not even a dry piece of bread. My husband enjoyed his pork chop but I was not excited about my rockfish. The fish was good but the menu descriptions of green beans, potatoes, crab meat and fennel were deceiving in that these items were tiny diced and mixed together with the salt cod sauce. Also we had a reservation and were seated at a table between two large parties with children, one of whom had her electronic device playing a game. We asked to move to a booth next to our table. We were informed it might be reserved but they found us another booth. That "reserved" booth was never used the entire time we were there. Not going to return soon."

"Enjoyed an amazing dinner experience this past Saturday night. My wife and I were joined by 3 couples and all of us thought the dinner was excellent. Service surpassed all of our expectations. With teh multiple rooms the Bungalow Lakehouse has you can find a vibe which is just right for you. We dined in the main dining room - Thanks to the owner Cheryl we had a table front and center.
Server was always present but never annoying. Filled wine glasses without being asked - very attentive and very knowledgeable. Short ribs were simply the best. Paired with grits and collard greens. Very imaginative and nice cotrast in tastes. Steak, chicken were as good. Loved the cigar bar!
We all walked away telling ourrselves we would be back soon!"

"The food at the Lakehouse is getting better with time. The Hamburger is really good, although it is so juicy that it is hard to eat it without a knife and fork, The rockfish is delicious, although it still seems to be served lukewarm, rather than hot. It almost seems like it is warmed in a microwave rather than cooked to order. That is a regular occurrence here and serving temperatures of most of the "fancier" meals seem to fall into this area. The beer selection is great, although pricey and the wine selection is a bit weak. All in all though, a great neighborhood addition."

"They've spent of ton of money on the facility now they need to invest some money into a top chef. For what they're charging, I expected a lot better. It's an interesting menu but the food was not good. Braised short ribs were tough- they should almost melt in your mouth. Trout was uninspiring- served skin side up.
Service was poor. But to his credit, he did tell us to avoid the special- seafood sausage. We had to ask what the special was.
Its a shame that with such a nice facility that the food and the service wasnt up to the same level"

"Bungalow Lakehouse is a little different. It has several sections. starting with a quiet dining room with a bit of a fancy menu, one quiet adult type bar and a noisy, vibrant sports type bar with a pub grub menu. The dining room has an interesting menu. The prices are a little high for Sterling but not unreasonable. The decor is nice and the crowd subdued. I had the rockfish entree and it was very good, albeit a bit of a small portion for the price. A companion tried the pastrami sandwich and pronounced it very interesting. It was served with a topping of egg salad, which seemed odd but seemed to taste fine. His only complaint was that the pastrami was closer to corned beef, lacking the spiciness of NY pastrami."

"Our first experience was o.k. The restaurant is clean and nice in appearance. Our waiter was not very knowledgeable about the meals, He did not really seem to care to be there. During the course of our meal we were interrupted at least 5 different times to ask us if everything was going ok - there were at least 3 managers that interrupted us to ask if everything was going ok. It was clear there was not alot of communication between all the staff as this was edging on rude and obnoxious. The food was good but not anything to get excited over. Pricey for quantities given. A good 1 time experience. No plans to return."

"The food was good, but we waited a long time for it to come out. My 8-year old was really upset (and very hungry) to wait an hour for his food when he was told that his pizza would be out as soon as it was ready. The server offered no explanation - except that the kitchen was busy - but it was very strange because the dining room wasn't even half full!! The restaurant has been open for 4 months, so one would think that this type of problem would have already been worked out."

"The renovation from Joe's Crab Shack to the Bungalow Lakehouse is amazing. A totally new interior and exterior. We enjoyed the olive tapenade, wild mushroom foie-gras, calamari, braised beef short ribs, rockfish, and lots of wine. Price is OK and I expect this new gem will provide competition for other local gems like Sweetwater Tavern, Hooked and Clydes in Ashburn."

"I was excited about eating here because I had heard the scallops were delicious. When we arrived for our 6:30 reservation, we waited 10 minutes for a hostess to ever show up to seat us. No one was at the front desk. Once seated, on what I'd call the "fish camp" side, it took another 10 minutes to be approached by a waiter who acted as if we were an afterthought. His question, "has anyone helped you yet?" We decided to go ahead and order, thinking we may not get another chance. I had the French Onion Soup. Taste was good, but there was almost no broth. All onions. Ordered scallops to be told they were "out." Changed to roasted chicken which was just okay. Food was delivered quickly, but refills on drinks were slow to come."

"Outstanding place. My only concern was that I asked the waiter what he thought about the wine that was recommended on the menu to go along with the meal I ordered and he responded he was underage so he couldn't tell me whether it really was a good wine or if he recommended another. No real issue, though, since the menu's recommended wine turned out to be very good."

"This is a great restaurant that we recently found. It's cozy, they have several different rooms that would appeal to everyone, the food's great and it's a fun place to go. We had the crabcake sandwich on Saturday which was great -- lots of crab and little filler. We've also had dinner there recently and the filet mignon is tender and has great flavor. We'll definitely be going back there again. We may try the sports bar the next time we go."
