"I had such a nice meal at Byrsa Bistro with friends a few weeks back, that I decided to take my husband there for our anniversary. What a perfect choice! The fig flatbread and scallops were terrific and my husband really enjoyed his steamed mussels and paella. (I had the duck on my previous visit and enjoyed that thoroughly as well.)
The service could not have been better; my husband travels extensively and he commented that the service was the "best ever". We will be back for sure and definitely recommend to friends. I am just hoping the place doesn't get so popular that we have trouble getting a table!!! We ran into acquaintances at the restaurant who said it was their third visit in recent months!"

"The food was spectacular. The lamb was near perfection and the paella was truly scrumptious. The restaurant decor is cozy and romantic with a touch of rustic charm. A great addition to kennett square! The wait staff is attentive but young. They could benefit from a tad more training. For example, we were not finished with our appetizer but the server was insistent that she needed to clear away the plates because our entrees were ready! We kindly said, no. We wanted to finish our appetizer...."

"This little Western Mediterranean BYOB is right in the heart of Kennett Square. Four of us dined on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant was not busy - but perhaps that was because it was mid-week? Service was attentive. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their appetiizers, entrees, and we shared deserts.
A nice and unexpected touch on the part of the chef - he sent out a salad that was being added to the menu the next week for each of us to try after our appetizers and asked for our opinion. Everyone liked the combination of flavors and textures.
We'll definately put Byrsa Bistro on our list of restaurants to return to."

"We enjoyed the fig flatbread although the bread itself did not seem to be homemade. The mushroom soup was very good. There did not seem to be much difference in the size of the bowl vs the cup, but there's only a $2 difference. My husband enjoyed his beet salad which was large and had a nice light dressing. My son and husband both had the salmon which they felt was only ok. I had the bronzino, which was very good and had been dressed with a light amount of olive oil and lemon which is better than too much olive oil as in some other restaurants. Service erred on the over attentive side as we were being continually asked by three different people if everything was ok. The owner made the rounds, greeted us and the other tables, a nice touch."

"In preparation for a trip to Spain we thought that the BYSTRA would be fun to visit....to get a sampling of Mediterranean food.
We were not disappointed! Every dish was outstanding! Flatbread with fig and Gorgonzola was amazing as well as the paella and the cassoulet. Service was very good and because its a small space the feeling is quite intimate and friendly.
Definitely will be returning and recommending this gem,"

"BYOB with no corkage fee. Have been twice and the food was very good each time. Staff has been completely replaced since our first visit, and service was better. Each meal in our group of 6 was spot on. Free parking in the nearby deck."

"Upon arrival, we were promptly seated and warmly welcomed. Our server was helpful, attentive and eager to please. We were served some delicious bread with a melange of veggies, and when that disappeared, more was immediately served. The restaurant has a warm and cozy feel to it, attractive, warm and inviting, the lighting subdued, but not dark, the tables solid and antique wood, all in all not one of the very glitzy modern settings too many eateries strive for today. I had the 5 mushroom soup which was on a par with the marvelous Tuscan mushroom soups, earthy, flavorful and totally delightful. My main dish, the paella was loaded with fresh sea food, unusually flavored and totally satisfactory. Will go there again when in the area."

"We made a 5pm reservation for Mother's Day dinner with grandparents, parents, and grandchildren. We were a little concerned that the meals were too 'grownup' for our picky young eaters but the host was extremely accommodating, making a pizza with chicken for one and a chicken breast for the other. All 4 adults raved about their meals."

"Had another great meal at Byrsa Bistro...this time a lunch. Stuck with our usual mushroom soup and weren't disappointed. In Kennett Square, the mushroom capitol of the world, Byrsa Bistro has the corner on mushroom soup. The others are all bland by comparison. The fig flatbread is another satisfying winner."

"My family and I came here for Mother's Day brunch. The servers were attentive and the food was exquisite, especially in the little details. The side salads were dresses perfectly, the potatoes were prepared to perfection, and all of our main dishes we fresh and delicious. I hear dinner takes it to a whole other level. We'll have to go back to Kennett just to try it out. Highly recommended."

"After reading several reviews we were expecting great things. The owner and wait staff were very accommodating and the ambiance (other than a VERY loud table of 6 right next to us) is very nice, but some of the food was very disappointing. We had the large appetizer with a variety of foods on it and it was very good, but I had the duck
and it was tough and tasteless. The beet salad was very good, but my husbands "greens" salad was bland with no dressing.

"Although the food was good, it was quite expensive. I don't expect to pay $26.00 for three scallops. Or $9.00 for half a pear. Don't care how gourmet you claim to be. When you leave hungry from a restaurant and your wallet is empty, not going to get me to come back."

"Great menu at this "western Mediterranean and gourmet" bistro. Food and service were both very good, and the restaurant has a charming ambience. There seems to be a lot of French influence in the foods, and they are very flavorful. Lamb chops, short ribs, and scallops were all delicious. My branzino was a little bland -- seemed to be broiled or baked without much if any seasoning -- but the fish was fresh and mild. The sides helped add spice and flavor to my plate. I love being able to get some interesting food combinations here in Chester County, and am anxious to try some of the other items on the menu. We'll be back to this neighborhood gem!"

"We joined two friends for dinner a Byrsa Bistro on a Friday night. None of us had been there before. We all enjoyed the food, which was well prepared, fresh, and not run-of-the-mill. The prices were a bit high, but we felt it was worth it. The staff let us stay long after we were done without trying to get us to leave, which we appreciated."

"Excellent! reservation for 6 at 6:30pm Sat evening, we were seated right away. Our waitress was great,along with the atmosphere. The owner stopped by twice and made us all feel welcome. We will dine here again."

"I'm always looking for a good Mediterranean restaurant and wow, I loved this one. The food was wonderful!! My husband and I shared the sampler - the best warm dolmades I've ever had, heavenly baba ganoush and light and creamy hummus. The mushroom soup is to die for!! Grilled Salmon and Chicken Tagine entrees were delicious. Lovely presentation, fabulous vegetables. Fig crepe and baklava were perfect. The service was excellent, attentive and personable. And no cork fee! I can't wait to go back and try many other dishes on the menu. Thank you Byrsa!"

"A great gem in Kennett Sq! We had the Mixed Grilled Vegetables and Spinach, Potatotes and Meguez Sausage for appetizers - outstanding!
We also had Chicken Tagine with Prunes and Preserved Meyer Lemons, and Paella for entrees - also great. Tables are small in a popular BYOB restaurant. Service was attentive and friendly. Owner was welcoming and checked in with us during our meal. Glad we made reservations and can't wait to go back and try more!"

"This BYOB has an excellent menu and a good waitstaff. The night our party of four dined there, our entrees were a bit slow to come out, but they were excellent when they did. The only drawback, and this is a biggie in my view, is the noise level in the back of the restaurant. Request a table up front when you make your reservation. The owner has made an attempt to ameliorate the noise with some strategically placed curtains, but the acoustics of the back of the restaurant still need attention.
We enjoyed the grilled calamari and the special salad with calamari. The paella was among the best I have had. We'll be back...but only with a table reserved up front."

"So enjoyed our evening at Byrsa. The menu was creative, delicious, and so fresh. They served the freshest summer vegetables in February, don't know how they did it. The owner was extremely accommodating... one member of our party mentioned that she wanted her sauce on the mild side...not too spicy, he offered to make it to her liking. There were delicious pairings of tastes, amazing sauces that enhanced muscles and calamari. I am still dreaming of the palmagranite seed salad with just the perfect dressing. The paella, that is a speciality dish had a amazing assortment of seafood, poultry, sausage and wonderfully seasoned rice. We will go back again soon. The desserts were also fabulous."

"Food was excellent. Although disappointed in bread basket - cotton centered mediocre Italian bread doesn't belong in a good restaurant. Service was the only disappointing part of our evening. Our waiter seemed like he was moving in molasses, forgot about us for extended periods of time. The scallops and salmon dishes were excellent, the lamb shank was good, the salads were excellent the dessert parfait was delicious. The atmosphere is nice, however the lights over the table are a bit bright and were shining directly in our eyes - it would be nicer to shade the bulb in some way."
